Two years into the genocide, world leaders are changing their tone on Gaza. On Tuesday, after allowing Israel to default from its aid deal with the EU for a month with no consequence, Ursula von der Leyen wrote a heartfelt tweet saying the images of Gaza are unbearable and the famine must stop. Yesterday, two weeks after he made it law that everyone who shows support for Palestine Action should be imprisoned as a terrorist, Keir Starmer gambled palestinian statehood against Israel in exchange for aid trucks. After profitting off the sales of over 15 million weapons to Israel for the past two years, Macron now sails on the good will of being the first european leader to say he will recognize a Palestinian state.
Out of 63 palestinians summarily executed on Monday, 6 died of starvation, 2 of them were children. Yesterday, the BBC reported that 14 more have passed that way. 154 palestinians have died of starvation in total, out of which 89 are children. Half a million people in Gaza are starving. The legacy of these leaders will forever be the normalization and aiding of daily massacres and of the starvation of a population in such a systematic way not seen since the nazis. They can't claim they didn't know this would happen. In April 2024, after Israeli soldiers bombed a World Central Kitchen convoy, B'Tselem put out a statement saying Gaza had widely reached phase four of hunger. They just didn't care then.
Israel limits their defense to denying hunger. They say that the GHF is distributing aid and I think of the ten kids who were kidnapped and tortured for a month by IOF goons. They lie that the UN is barring trucks of aid from coming into Gaza and I think of the 900 people who were corralled into the "aid distribution points" and shot at by these cowards. It's pure redirection. There's not enough hasbara in the world to divert from the fact they are killing thousands of people in the most gruesome way possible mere miles away from their tourist attractions. A group of religious fundamentalists who dress themselves as victims.
We are very privileged that we have such a direct line to help the people of Gaza. We can be the difference between life and death for survivors of this genocide, years down the line. I ask you to please join me and, if you can, donate to a fundraiser today. I'll spotlight a few who have contacted me directly:
