Another World II Kate, Dark!Kate, and Phoebe Benson (legaliity)

There were only a few people left at the 12th that night. The majority of people were out due to an event in Times Square requiring anyone available. Kate's squad had only been spared due to a murder an hour prior.

Since they were waiting on results right now, Kate didn't have anything to do. So, naturally, she ordered Chinese.

Seeing the blonde wasn't exactly that big of a shock; generally speaking in the 12th, where Kate went, Phoebe was bound to be there as well. That was some of Kate's doing; she had requested it to Gates when Phoebe first started working here, after all. There had always been something about Phoebe that made Kate want to mother her, and that was just one instance where that feeling came to light.

"Hey, Pheebs." Kate says, seeing the woman walk back over from the break room. "I got you Chinese, if you're hungry."

I'm thinking that the normal!Kate and Phoebe are working in the office and Phoebe is like "oh what does this thing do" and Kate's like "PHOEBE NO" and Phoebe's like "PHOEBE YES" and it turns out to be a vortex manipulator and Pheebs ends up in NYC on the streets near a body or something that the other Kate is investigating and the normal!Kate ends up like halfway across the state, hence why it takes a while for her to find Phoebe.

This isn't the Kate that you know.

When this Senator Bracken realized that Kate was getting close to uncovering the mystery of Johanna Beckett's murder, he didn't try to kill her. Instead, Bracken simply took the girl under his wing and spoiled her with gifts, money, everything she could think of. This version of Bracken understood how powerful and talented this woman was and simply brought her into the scheme before she could dismantle it.

Kate didn't know Bracken was behind her mother's murder; after a while of being spoiled, she didn't care. Within a year, Kate was a corrupted cop and - basically - working for Bracken.

Castle is aware of this and thinks that Kate's obsession with her mother's murder drove her to this point. He thinks he can get her back.

The truth is that - much like how we've seen Kate's dark side rear its ugly head a few times in the show - the darkness was always seductive to Kate. There have been times where she wanted to go bad, to drop everything and become the thing she detests because working for the good side of the law doesn't bring about change, only hurdles. In this universe, she's taken that ideology to heart.

Because of her decisions, Kate is corrupted. For the right price, she'll close your case and pin it on someone else. Esposito and Ryan don't realize how far down the rabbit hole she is yet, though they have their suspicions. Gates is well aware of what's happened to her top detective but can't do anything to stop it. It's a never ending cycle that no one can save Katherine from.

In some instances, Kate joins Annabelle on her adventures, but that's usually reserved for every once in a while. Kate still has a job to do, after all. 

For purposes of this RP blog, "Katherine" is the corrupted cop (whom this passage is about) and "Kate" is the normal, Castle-canon homicide detective from the show.

Annabelle has been travelling so much that she doesn't remember her childhood. Her family was never a thing.

She is currently on her third life; in the first (FC: Angie Harmon), she fell in love with a man named Erickson Dyson and helped him raise a child named Johanna Grace Bering-Wells, a lycan/Moirai hybrid. Things were great and she was sane... until she realized that Erick was abusing Johanna physically. This resulted in her trying to leave with Johanna, but ended with her being killed.

In her second life (FC: Joanne Kelly), Annabelle found out where Johanna was and started to train her, so that she may never fall into Erick's hands again. This resulted in her engaging in highly controversial torture methods to try to get Johanna as emotionless as Annabelle herself had now become. She was killed by a powerful vampire by the name of Gerri Dandridge.

In her third life (FC: Jaime Murray), Annabelle had transformed into looking like Johanna's adopted mother and was now fully engulfed in insanity. She considers herself past the point of no return and doesn't want to be saved from the darkness she had developed within herself. Her companion - actually Johanna's biological mother - came along with her when she decided to follow Johanna to make her life a living hell.

Lately, though, Annabelle has realized that there is more to life than trying to capture Johanna. For now, she's simply wandering around time and space (and even universes at this point; she took the technology from a now-extinct race) in an attempt to find some sort of meaning.

Annabelle is an absolute thrill seeker and loves a good chase or hunt. She also has no morality whatsoever and is up to do basically anything.

Astarte smiled despite herself, finally a human who knew to give her the proper respect. “My blessings to you,” she answered with a smile, extending a hand to cup the woman’s cheek in benediction, the thought surfacing that this one would make an excellent host.

Smiling and sweeping by Katherine in a swirl of silk and pheromones, Astarte languidly seated herself, crossing a bare leg daintily as she waited, subtly watching the human to see the effect she’d had on her.

Kate leans into the touch, smiling gratefully. Then she simply waited for Astarte to move past her before taking her place on the other side of the table.

Unfortunately for Astarte, Annabelle was well aware of Goa'uld's influences and had Katherine inoculated well beforehand. Still, Katherine smiled charmingly, sitting down in the chair next to the empty one across the room.

The Time Lady Annabelle came into the room then, sitting in the chair next to Kate's. She smiled a bit, nodding at the woman before her. "Astarte, correct? I've dealt with your kind a few times... lovely party guests." It's unclear if she's being sarcastic or not. "My name is Annabelle. I'm a Time Lady. Tell me: why has a powerful woman like yourself come here?" 

The TARDIS hummed a bit when Annabelle questioned the alien. Katherine just watched calmly from the sidelines.
