Male writers writing female characters:
“Cassandra woke up to the rays of the sun streaming through the slats on her blinds, cascading over her naked chest. She stretched, her breasts lifting with her arms as she greeted the sun. She rolled out of bed and put on a shirt, her nipples prominently showing through the thin fabric. She breasted boobily to the stairs, and titted downwards.”
‘ She breasted boobily to the stairs, and titted downwards’ is the greatest fucking sentence I have ever read.
THE ORIGINAL??
(smh) Never thought I’d see it in the wild. Yet here it is. :)
always gotta reblog the ‘breasted boobily’ post

It’s funny that calling a ‘boy’ a girl is the ultimate insult until someone is trans. Almost like it’s just about punishing queerness and deviation from the patriarchy.
depression is really one of the most obnoxious things to deal with. really difficult to articulate that you’ve been struggling to do the dishes because you’re too busy trying not to kill yourself without it coming off like a manipulative excuse. almost easier to just be like “I’m an unrepentant nasty slob and I love living like this.” than admitting you are not a functioning human being and have no idea what to do to make it better.
I’m not ok
I’m not
I can’t do this
I can’t keep doing this
Fuck
I can’t
Can’t stop thinking about ending it
No more pretending
No more Autism making my life hell
No more being blamed for everything
It’s so hard to resist
I just want it to stop
I don’t want to die
I struggle to see another way
I’m sitting in my truck
Looking at my CCW
Thinking about how nice it would be
But I’m a fucking coward
A chickenshit
Tried so many times and always ALWAYS FUCKIGN FAIL
Can’t even kill myself right
I don’t want to die
I don’t want to be buried as Him
I don’t want to be buried in His clothes
I just can’t
Can’t handle it anymore
Can’t keep being yelled at because I try to help and ppl think I’m trying to make them look bad
Can’t keep getting screamed at for raising my voice when I didnt
Fuck
What would happen if I took all of my HRT meds at once? Every pill. All the injection juice. I wish I wasn’t a coward so I could try it out
Just once
Maybe I’d finally get to rest

It’s hot, it’s steamy, it’s got (concerningly - for me at least, who is generally not a monsterfucker…though…maybe I am now?) sexy spiders. In the Court of the Nameless Queen is the lastest of @natalieironside‘s books, and is very, *very* good. Ironside is a fantastic writer (if you haven’t already read her book The Last Girl Scout, absolutely go do so; her worldbuilding is gorgeous), and this is just the latest example of her meaningful and enjoyable writing. I could easily go on about the smutty, smutty (smutty smutty smutty) scenes which are way too hot to have been reading in a dermatology clinic when I’m meant to writing down what’s happening (who can focus on how many actinic keratoses the doc is treating with liquid nitrogen when the Nameless Queen is doing *that* to Freydis? Not me, that’s who). But Ironside goes beyond the (smutty smutty) sex scenes to create a world that I, for one, am fascinated with. Honestly, I’m hoping to see more out of this world from her!
Also it’s very very hot. Like. So hot. Too hot. Help
DON'T ASK YOURSELF "AM I A GOOD PERSON?" ASK YOURSELF "IS WHAT I AM DOING GOOD?" OR EVEN! "WHAT'S A GOOD THING I CAN DO RIGHT NOW?"
DON'T WORRY ABOUT JUDGING AND SORTING YOURSELF! JUST MAKE YOUR BEST CHOICES!!
Ok but pls actually do this people. There is no such thing as a good person. Stop trying to be one and starting trying to do good instead
Magica Riot: Full Bloom is my new big emotional queer Portland magical girl novel, and the sequel to Magica Riot!
Claire Ryland has just about figured this whole magical girl band thing out. The people of Portland really love Magica Riot, so much that they’ve been asked to play a concert at the biggest venue in town! But when not one but two villains decide to make their presence known, Claire, Sara, Cass, Hana, and Nova have to figure out a new approach to their magic and their music...with some help from unexpected friends!
Read the next adventure in my queer magical girl universe! Ebook and print versions are available starting now, and the audiobook will be here soon!
Novels about Portland's hard-rocking queer magical girls, Magica Riot.
LOOK AT THESE TWO CUTIES! Everybody's favorite trans magical girl drummer Nova, and everybody's favorite agender enby hacker Hikari, from my "Magica Riot" novels! Hikari's showing Nova "videogame stuff" by demonstrating the claw grip on a PSP and showing off their 300 hours in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

The Last Girl Scout
by Natalie Ironside
Wow, I was blown away. I'll be honest I bought it, because it has trans representation. I don't care for the Zombie/Horror genre. Luckily, this was a book about people and their relationships, with an occasional bit of nod to genre or trope. Warning, this is not a light heated run the countryside. I had to stop reading a couple of times, because I didn't want anything to happen to the characters. There is no drama without loss. No success without risk, no redemption without sin and no forgiveness without love. I can't wait to read more. @natalieironside
That's the goodread's review.
The tumblr review: Holyshit, queer communists and anarchists fighting facists. Queer and trans love. And occasional node to those of you that have been here, if you watch for it. Someone that knows how to write, understands that you have to write from your heart and your lived experience. A grasp of the politics that is far more nuanced that will appear to most people. I had bought this for a while before reading it. Zombies are not my deal. I bought it to support the author, because I could at the time. (My life is a roller coaster, money or time, but not both). When I picked it up I didn't want to stop reading, except when I was afraid. Some tropes in media are so conditioned, I didn't want to continue. But I'm glad I did, because people can find redemption. The worlds of younger people than me (I'm 51), don't have to be the worlds created today both fiction and reality. I'm trying to be a little vague. But I really enjoyed the book, and looking forward to future writings, and hope to see great things from Natalie Ironside. Oh and ya'll should buy her book and read it. And if she see's this, maybe she'll plug her other works, including her new book.
Oh goodness, thank you so much <3 This is lovely.
And I have no shame so I think I will plug my other works

Hey listen everybody the Prairieland case is a real "all hands on deck" type of situation. They're gonna hang these folks out to dry and use that as further precedent for making protesters disappear. It's fucked. Like I can't stress how important it is to get as many eyes on this as possible. Tell everybody and their grandma.
Like I know some of us has got friends with media connections and some of us has got like ten hundred bazillion followers and all that type of stuff. Use it for somethin.

If convicted, people who showed up to a protest could face “decades of prison time,” the National Lawyers Guild says.
