I think in the same way there's a 90/10 rule with horror and comedy (horror works best when it's 90% horror and 10% comedy and vice versa) there's a 90/10 rule for some relationships in fiction that's like. Wholesome and fucked up. A good friendship is at its most compelling when it's also 10% a bit fucked up. Consider making an OC just for the event, or challenge yourself and create one based on a random character generator! It could be a great exercise in creativity!
• My OC doesn’t have a significant other, can I still participate?

• If you don’t own OCkiss, why are you organizing it?
I had been organizing this event three years in a row over at my artblog @artofmisi and people kept asking me, and they say three time’s the charm, so I went for it as a way of having things organized in one blog, and so people who want to participate in my version of this event can have an updated and controlled place to stay informed. Also, I just love OCkiss :P
• Has OCkiss been organized by other people?
Absolutely, and I take no credit for their idea nor their work! As far as I’m aware of, @/becausedragonage is the first one who did it on this post in 2016 with #ockiss16, and then @/slavetothemocha followed with #ockiss17 the following year on this post. From 2018 until this day, I have organized it every year. I’m not aware of other people organizing it, but if you do, please let me know and I will add them to this list!
• Is OCkiss exclusive to Tumblr?
You can participate and post on your preferred social media, however, OCkiss will only be sharing entries here on Tumblr. There are two reasons for it: 1) I really want to help reblog culture on this site, and promote creators by sharing their work and 2) I simply don’t have time to check every social network!
• Why is it in February / will it always be in February?
Why: because I want to fill St. Capitalism-dressed-as-Love week with genuine enthusiasm and love towards original characters and their creators. So yes, this version of the event on this blog will always be organized for whatever week Valentine’s falls on that year.
This sounds fun! Last year, I wrote very short kiss snippets, mostly for new OCs, which I really enjoyed. Perhaps I will do something for this event with my existing OCs this time.
Let me know if you have any requests for a prompt + existing OC. It can be a named OC like Hugo or an unnamed one like the lady obsessed with cheese. If I've written about the character before, they're fair game. No guarantees, but I'll try!

reminder that ppl saying they don't want to be reality checked is okay and does not instantly mean they're "faking" or "anti-recovery"! for some ppl reality checking helps, and for some ppl it only makes things worse or only helps if it's done by a professional. respect ppl's boundaries! if you don't agree with it then just block the person or don't interact. going out of your way to mess with someone isn't cool at all!
In my experience, reality checking when the person isn't helped by it causes the person to fall deeper into the delusion, as the delusion could evolve to have a reason other people don't believe them (i.e, that other people simply don't have the same awareness, that they are special/more powerful for being able to believe it, that they are chosen by some higher force to know 'the truth', ect)
As a kid, I was severely delusional, and when people would try to convince me that my delusions were wrong, my mind would make excuses for why the person thought that.

the way that people will simultaneously insist that using identity-specific language (especially when it's aro or ace) is always out of character and jarring and He Wouldn't Fucking Say That and chronically online and cringe etc etc etc and if a book has this in it then well smh those twitter writers this is so Carrd Identity Politics Brain Rot BUT ALSO no character can ever actually be aro or ace coded, no implication of disinterest in romance or sex will ever be enough to establish any kind of canonical aromanticism or asexuality and saying so is actually shitty and bad for xyz reason, you can't actually say this character IS aro or ace, they never said it, it's not canon you can't expect other people to respect or engage with your headcanons you don't own this character.
(and also like, why are we still talking about representation? don't you get that fiction is about more than this. it's about stories. representation is such a flattened concept. people are more than identities, why do you have to label everything anyway. stop asking for lists of identities tell me what you want to read about lol, don't tell me what identities are in the book tell me the GENRE, 'representation' is such a cringe thing to focus on it's such a tumblrina buzzword.)
can you perhaps predict where this might end up? let's all ponder what the outcome of this might be for aro and ace people and aro and ace creatives/audiences.
This is why I don't care if it sounds jarring for my fantasy stories to use aspect terminology. Because if I wasn't outright with it ppl WILL debate it.
