Weather Magic - Storm Casting

Okay, so today I offered to take some photos and film bits of me performing some weather magic. If you don’t know anything about weather related magic or storm casting you might want to go read the post I made earlier first.

Storm Casting

Storm casting is essentially the art of creating storms. While there are many different methods to create storms and bring rain, the method I use is to fill a jug with water and while sitting outside (or facing a window) pour the water into a wash basin I inherited from my mother (see below). 

Now you can either dip the tip of your pointer finger into the water and slowly make five clockwise circles in the water or if you have a pendant necklace, this can be used instead.

As you are making the circles call the wind to bring in a storm by blowing (or whistling a continuous low note - the sound of wind over the mouth of a glass bottle) over the water in the basin.

So yeah, that’s how I do weather magic.

Witch Tips: Lavender

*if you are allergic to lavender, read my post on substitutes*

~ What is Lavender?

   Lavender is a part of the mint family, native to the Mediterranean region, and parts of Africa and India. This purple herb carries a very fragrant scent.

~ Planting and Harvesting your Lavender

   Plant your Lavender in a warm, sunny spot that is shielded from harsh winds. Lavender can take heat and occasional drought. Make sure it’s planted in a pot that is at least 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball and has a hole for drainage. Water when the soil feels dry, and try your best to not get the leaves wet.  

   Harvest your lavender plant when the buds are just beginning to open. Cut them into long stems and bundle them up and hang them upside down to dry. *To learn more about drying out herbs, read my post here* 

~ Magickal Uses of Lavender

   Lavender can be used in spells for protection, enhancing psychic abilities, encouraging love and fertility, and to promote peace. Burn it in a bundle to invite spirits or promote dreams.

~ Healing Uses of Lavender

   Lavender’s fragrance is very relaxing and peaceful, which makes it an amazing herb for individuals dealing with depression and/or anxiety. Put a washcloth with lavender oil on it in your pillowcase before bed. This will promote restful sleep.

~ Culinary Uses of Lavender

   If you ever make a dessert to use in a spell for love or fertility, sprinkle a little bit of edible lavender on top.

   You can use lavender extract to make delicacies!

   Lavender sugar; put lavender in a jar with sugar in a shaded place for about a month. Enjoy!

Practical Magic things

Have you ever touched someone and instantly known the state of their mind? Unintentionally converged with their energy and had your head filled all of a sudden with their racing thoughts and skewed view of reality?

Have you ever brushed shoulders with another and known unequivocally and without reason that they were feeling lost and confused? Or rushed to help someone in pain and suddenly your head is throbbing, and your limbs are heavy, and your eyes burn… but you know that none of that pain belongs to you?

Have you ever awoken just before three AM for no apparent reason only to realize that your forgetful grandparent was walking out the door just because they thought it was a good idea at the time? And realized that if you didnt wake up, no one would have known to stop them? Or have you awoken at midnight with the strange knowledge that an earthquake was about to hit and rushed to wake up your parents so that you could all run for cover?

Have you ever listened to the dream a friend told you about and realized you were dream-sharing? Or have you dreamed of things that came to pass? Of future lovers, or the passing of a treasured companion?

Have you known the company of ghosts without feelings of fear? Do they seem to gravitate to your presence? Do you see their ethereal forms sometimes from the corner of your eye? Just passing through…

Have you ever touched an object, or entered a room and known without knowing that it was special in some way? Or dangerous?

There are some in this world who are exquisitely aware and deeply sensitive to the tremors unseen… to the strange and subtle cords of magick that runs across the universe and through the soul.
