The brunet cautiously made his way closer to Pitch and before he knew it the mans hand was on his shoulder and they were falling. Hiccup hated that feeling. It made his stomach lurch and his heart almost stop. It terrified him because the first time it happened Jack was taken away from him. And now he was so close he could keep an eye on him. But all that could be changed in a netter of seconds. Though his legs were wobbly when they landed he kept himself up and from falling, straightening himself when he was sure they were on solid ground with no chance of falling again. Pitch motioned for him to begin and hiccup nodded silently to him before turning his attention to the frightened dragons. Each step he took was small, cautious, and deliberate. Though this wasn’t the best place for them it was better than anything else. “Easy now.” He spoke softly as he approached the first dragon, eyes lowered slightly as to not make eye contact. “I know.. You’re scared.. But I’m not going to hurt you. I’m going to help you…” Every time the dragon thrashed or began to freak out hiccup would slow to a stop letting him calm before repeating the process talking to them as he did so. He was finally able to get in close enough, offering his hand out to the creature, and it nuzzling his hand back. Hiccup let out a sigh of relief under his breath. “Good… See you’re okay…” He said, bringing his other hand now to scratch the dragons head.

Jack watched in awe as Hiccup was able to tame the dragons.  They bent and bowed to his will, moved where he wanted them to, and perhaps most importantly they were no longer acting threatening.  Their once previous spread wings were folded up by their sides and their claws were no longer digging into the ground.  Jack blinked in disbelief before a broad smile covered his face. Hiccup was amazing!  He was small and weak looking and couldn’t hold up in a fight, but he was actually amazing!

Jack looked to Pitch and saw a pleased expression on his kings face.  Jack’s smile widened.  His king was pleased too!  Hiccup was actually the best!  He could please Pitch and could be a friend to Jack!  What more could Jack ask for?  

“Wow Hiccup!” Jack chirped, “That was amazing!”

“It was sufficient,” Pitch added, “You both will come with me.”

“Huh?  Where to, my king?”  Jack asked as Pitch began to stride towards Hiccup.

“The battleground,” Pitch answered, “with this boy we can surely win the ground and more dragons.  Perhaps even some that will help with our mission, my boy.”

“Yes, My king,” Jack answered admiration on his face but hesitance shined in his eyes.  

Was this right?

Hiccup kept most of his attention on the Dragons at first, talking softly to them, petting them and keeping them calm but he did turn when Jack spoke, praising him and sounding so much like the Jack he knew, the Jack he loved. He managed a smile just briefly before Pitch walked towards him. He wiped the smile from his face instantly. He stiffened as Pitch spoke. Battlefield? No.. There was no way he could be out there. He’d be crushed or killed or something! And dragons and weapons? Not a good combination and almost an impossible situation to be able to calm down a dragon in. Fear and uncertainty was painted all over Hiccups face as he looked to Jack who looked quiet hesitant himself. But he could a grudge, not with Pitch.
