I'm gonna get laughed at and sneered at but I give zero fucks because this needs to be said. I don't know what this person's situation is. It's entirely possible that they're making a mountain out of a mole hill for attention. But I worked at a professional haunted house for six seasons. The costume you created for Halloween was actually very important when it came to social standing. I'm not talking about the outfit we wore as actors--the haunt(that was how we referred to the haunted house) provided that. I'm talking about your personal costume that you wore to the after-party on Halloween. A lot of thought and effort had to go into it if you wanted people to think you were cool. Sure, it could be argued that you shouldn't care about looking cool, but fitting into a group is something that matters to a lot of people, especially when they're young like I was. So the costume mattered. I'm not saying that it does at every haunted house, but it was the case for mine. And ADHD could ABSOLUTELY make that difficult. Time blindness, executive dysfunction, disorganization--that all created roadblocks. I remember one Halloween I went with a simple sexy costume, and a guy said he didn't think I was the kind of person who would "Use Halloween as an excuse to dress like a slut."

Make fun of me, and other people with ADHD if you want. But it's a challenging condition. It's easier for some people than others, and whether you have access to medication and therapy has a significant impact on your ability to manage it. It's easy to laugh at an illness you don't understand, or that you're better at dealing with than others. I'm sure there are people with ADHD who are able to cope with it or don't like to see people complain about it reading this right now, and I can almost see them composing a defensive or superior reply. But that doesn't change the fact that ADHD is incredibly difficult for some of us(especially if it's comorbid with other illnesses), and laughing at that is ableist bullshit. Do better.

Nobody is reposting a joke of this nature if they don’t have ADHD. The reason that the second screenshot went around was because it is relatable. I’m not an idiot, stop preaching to me about my own condition. I know.

You’re not wrong, but nobody is reposting a joke of this nature if they don’t have ADHD—and if they did reblog it in an ableist way, I would just take it down. The reason that the second screenshot went around was because it is relatable to our struggles, and because it’s a good snapshot of how ableists view neurodivergence.

I’m not an idiot, please do not preach to me about my own condition in my replies. I’m well aware of the fact that both of these things could actually be difficult. I really don’t like having to type all this shit over a joke.

people seemingly make out dissociative amnesia out to be like what you'd experience passing out and staying asleep for 9 solid hours but in my experience it's far more like one of those nights where you're really struggling to sleep.

you wake up a few times halfway through the night you wander off to the bathroom before making it back and quickly falling back asleep. you hear some words and you think they're your partner but you might be imagining it. there's a loud banging noise but god knows where it's coming from. someone asks you about classes tomorrow but you don't remember if they really did or if you just imagined it. you go to the bathroom again only to realize once you're there that you never got up out of bed.

you wake up a few hours later and get on with your day. well aware of the time that passed but you're really not sure which bits were dreams or not, and if you don't think about it actively it'll probably fade from your memory before you realize. doesn't mean you don't remember some things or didn't notice the time pass, it's just really really messy

would anyone (maaaaybe perhaps any other systems..) with minecraft java edition like to join one of our favorite survival minecraft servers to play with us? :3 it’s very tight-knit, almost entirely vanilla besides kits and crates—diamond economy, etc.. the most inclusive and friendly community i’ve ever found. most of the best perks come from voting which you can do 8 times a day!!!

we’ve played for years so we have a rank and will spoil you, it’s such a comfort server

but ya i have so many items.. if anyone wants to dm us and chat for a little, we can play together and i can share my materials with you + build a base with you!
