This was such a lovely, charming little piece! I really enjoyed Hiro and Taka’s back and forth; with them having an inherent disconnect from their very different personalities but sharing such a endearing bonding moment! Plus it was so sweet seeing Taka warming up to his estranged mother with Takaaki essentially wiping the slate clean, rather than nuture the past hurt, in light of seeing them both together again. :-D I very definitely did enjoy!

Driver schedules are just lists of stations, instructions and times, so if you’ve been driving verrrrry similar shifts day in day out, a slight variation can easily trip you up. This is on top of the fact that there are multiple different stations and platforms that you might start from so a misreading might mean the difference of several MILES. Mobile phones have to be off during a shift (and that’s assuming you have signal) so phoning a missing staff member rarely gets you any results so unless you’re psychic and know exactly which one of the many different stations/platforms they might be at… you’re up a creek without a paddle.

HOWEVER, there is a contingency plan of sorts!

There are ‘standby’ shifts, where a driver just waits in the depot so that a cancellation can be avoided by having that driver step in instead during cases of sickness, lateness, disruption, and yes, if a driver is just standing at the wrong station like a berk.

transmasc opinions on jkr are extremely valuable actually, specifically transmascs from the UK. her "save the poor lost autistic girls!!!" bullshit is targeting transmascs specifically. transmascs are literally the intended targets of the laws she is working to get put in place, laws that will and already have killed transmascs. boost UK transmascs voices and stop telling them they aren't the ones being impacted by this shit.

She's literally caused such bulllshit for transmascs here in terms of transition. First, her money donations and fearmongering led to puberty blockers being stopped for 2 years for trans kids (after a court case involving a transmasc minor, who argued they had Gillick competence. JK and others campaigned against this case, which if it went in favour of transphobes- would have removed Gillick competence for *everyone*. Gillick competence is the reasoning vital to young teens who are pregnant and may seek an abortion etc.).

It was because of the pandemic mainly, but in 2020 we lost all of the transmasc bottom surgeons in the UK. They were drafted to help covid. When it came time to finding replacements, JK and terf groups kicked up such a fuss and culture war about "young (afab) teens 'mutilating' themselves" that the process was unnecessarily lengthened and so many trans men were left in limbo with half finished neophalluses in multi-stage phalloplasty.

JK Rowling uses her voice to attack us ans further a culture war that seeks to prevent transmascs from transitioning at all. Its scary times and I wish more people took transmascs in general seriously. And UK trans people seriously.

Here's my opinion: if you wouldn't feel comfortable giving money to a charity that would use it to petition the government to allow conversion therapy, then stop fucking buying Harry Potter shit.

Because that's what your money goes towards. I cannot be any more blunt or clear here - money that goes into her pocket goes back out into the pockets of people who have and continue to try and make the conversion ban therapy not apply to transgender people. Her money and influence is what makes this country so bad for trans people, bad enough there are organisations who will help trans people emigrate away for their own safety.

She also thinks every one of her fans agrees with her 100%, so you are sending the message to one of the most financially and socially affluent and influential people in the country that it's OK to abuse and kill a vulnerable minority.

So do not pass go. Do not collect £200. Do not continue to promote Harry Potter. Do not buy Harry Potter Merch. Do not encourage other fans. Enjoy it in private if you must, but for fucks sake just stop. Enabling. Her.

Ooooh, this is a fun concept! I have no clue as to what the funniest outcomes would be though, because there is just so much potential with this.

The narrow window before management cuts back the spring blooms is one of my favourite times. But if I had to fight pokémon hiding in the tall grass to get to my train, I'd be significantly less pleased.

On a different note, here's a more light-hearted separate sketchy scenario that didn't really fit with the previous lot;

Apparently Elesa loves bad puns and that's hilarious to me.

Yes, for real, my day job is driving passenger trains. Choo Choo, Stop, Go, Open Doors, "Please move down inside the train" The whole shebang. It's a pretty good gig but scores high on the 'monotony' chart; same routes, same trains, 9 hours on the bounce, but yeah I do enjoy it :)

If you're ever interested in the rail, no matter what country you're in, there will be rail forums run by enthusiasts who'll have all the info you could possibly want. 👍

Pokemon Legends: Arceus fic this time because this game has taken control of my life at the moment with a whole lot of found-family shenanigans featuring time-travel, Uncle Ingo, his favourite unofficial niece Akari, a very confused Emmet who just wants to find his brother, and a whole lot of inconveniences. So Taka gets his tonsils removed by the SHSL Surgeon (some random upperclassman) and as such can't talk for a few days. Mondo makes it his business to walk behind him (or carry him) through the corridors, yelling at people for him, disciplining, etc. and Taka's wavering between annoyed and impressed and worried and grateful.

I cannot see this man enjoying being manhandled or carried through the hallways and would absolutely let someone know one way or another if they tried, so I think Mondo would have the common sense to let him walk on his own two feet aksnjanckljank

As for Mondo yelling and disciplining others? Taka's mainly grateful for him trying, but he's also making a mental note of how many times he's sworn and is calculating how much detention he's getting as a result.

The blind AU has potential! Imagine Taka asking Mondo to 'be his eyes' on the regular and Mondo launching enthusiastically into a detailed description of whatever, and grabbing Taka's hands to press them against whatever so he can feel it and Taka just going along with it eagerly

It really does have a lot of potential, you're right! I've seen a few bits of content for blind AUs here and there but not much, but what I have seen has been really wholesome! I can't for the life of me remember what the fic was called, but I read one where Taka went through the proper steps of helping to guide a blind/visually impaired person with Mondo, and the entire thing just felt so genuine I couldn't help but smile.

I'm going to be completely honest; I don't really go here. I haven't played Black & White or its sequel so I was ignorant of these two until Pokémon Legends Arceus came out and propelled them right to the forefront of my dash, and I ain't gonna lie, I fell a little in love with these two.

Now. I might not have played their games. But I do drive a train and I couldn't help myself. I started sketching Ingo and Emmet in situations I've seen or been in as warmups and it just. . .mutated into this mini comic, which I thought I might share. Maybe I'll pick up my old saves

I love getting small headcanons like this, whether it's from a friend or just someone on the internet. Most of the time, it's just really fun light-hearted stuff! I remember talking about our favourite hall monitor with some friends a couple years back and the conversation ended up turning to how much the man would kill it if he sang death metal for stress relief, because he's loud anyway and we all thought his voice would fit and screaming into a mic always sounded like it would relieve a lot of stress. I still think about that conversation at least once a month.

The problem is Makoto adores them, they're so cute and fuzzy! He scoops them up and looks up even further than usual to where Byakuya is standing on the table and assures him that he's taking the mouse out, just a second, Kyoko can you open the door for me?
