And so, attempt to hold onto the beauty of the memories you've lost, cherish them like precious gems in the recesses of your heart.

You are confined to a cell, and you've been there for centuries. The walls of this prison are the only constant you know, a steady reminder of everything you don't. What you do know is that you were -are-considered a monster, a terror of unimaginable power, and the world trembled in fear at your very name: Belva. But why? What heinous deeds did you commit to warrant such a punishment? And why can't you remember them?

No one will tell you, and most of your memories are lost to the mists of time. But amidst the complexity and confusion of your past, glimpses of fond memories flicker in your mind, filling you with hope and yearning for what might have been. Some nights you're haunted, or blessed, by vague recollections that you can't trust, wondering if they're memories or nothing more than fever dreams.

The past is a shadow that never fades, a constant companion on the journey of life. It clings to you like a heavy cloak, reminding you of the choices you've made and the things you've lost.

As you strive to shape your future, the burden of your past will always be present, weighing you down like an anchor, even as you try to chart a new course for your future. Can you find the strength to confront the ghosts of yesterday and set yourself free?

Synopsis

In TWOY, you take on the role of Belva, a powerful demon god who has been trapped for centuries, with no memory of why. As you'll get released from prison and confined in exile to the celestial city of Divumia, you'll meet a wide cast of characters -including potential love interests and acquaintances from your past- and make decisions that will determine your future and your journey within the city. Will you be driven by the desire for redemption, the longing to return to what once was, or even the thirst for truth and the memories that come with it? Belva, you: As Belva, you are a mystery even to yourself. Your past is shrouded in secrecy, locked away in a part of your mind that refuses to yield its secrets. You have glimpses of memories that flicker in and out of your consciousness like fireflies in the night, but they are disjointed, incomplete.

[RO] The Loyal Hand, Nita (M/F): Nita has been with you since you were little. You’ve seen each other in your worst and most embarrassing moments, but you’re still only acquaintances. 

[RO] The Stranger From Your Past, Dorian/Delilah (M/F): Some of your memories/dreams include them. You know you have some kind of past together, but you’ve no idea who this person really is. 

[RO] The Human, Kiello/Keta (M/F): A human who lives in the city of Divumia and surprisingly controls a big part of the city. You may need their help, but can you really trust them? Could your past actions, or your current attitude towards humanity hinder your relationship, or will one of you manage to change the other?

[RO] The Watcher, Samu/Selena (M/F): You’ve heard whispers from fellow prisoners about watchers. You don't know this yet, but you'll have your own after your release from prison and consequent exile in Divumia. Will you be able to get behind their stoic barrier and discover the warm and caring person within? Or will their enigmatic nature keep you at bay, forever wondering what lies beneath their watchful gaze? [intro post here]

Time seemed to slow down as your muscles coiled, every fiber of your being honed in on that one moment. As the ball reached its apex, you launched yourself into the air, a burst of controlled power. Your arm swung back, and with a thunderous crack, your hand connected with the ball. You could almost hear the collective intake of breath from the crowd. The ball rocketed downward, a streak of white lightning aimed unerringly for the opposing court. The ball hit the floor with a triumphant thud, a resounding echo of victory. In that fleeting instant, you felt invincible. And you were.

Is there a better match than you and volleyball?

You, arguably the most promising spiker of your generation, led your highschool team to victory by winning against your ex-bestfriend slash rival, Nikita.

You couldn't believe you won a volleyball scholarship for the university of your dreams; and maybe you were right not to. An anonymous source convinced the university that you partook in doping and steroid use, which led them to drop you.

With no options left due to the allegations, you decided to accept a scholarship to a minor university with an unknown and lacking volleyball club, the Boarwood Titans. What's worse is that you are now forced to become a battery with your childhood rival, Nikita being the setter and you the spiker.

Can you work together with your rival to lead your team to the victor? Or will hate prevail? And will you find out who really spread the rumors against you?

Nikita Raymond [RO, F/M/NB]: Once your training buddy and now your rival, you wonder if the infamous "Tiger" is the one behind the allegations.There is no place for love between you two. They hate you as much as you hate them; but you'll have to to put that aside if you want to win. Can you?

Klaus/Klara Padel [RO, F/M/NB]: A stern and strict figure in your team, they're especially wary of you ever since you took their spot as a spiker. They've since made it their personal goal to make your stay at the university a living hell. They want to get their spot back, and they've got the motivation. Part of them hopes you'll be able to impress them and show them you deserve their spot, but until then, you'll have to suffer.

Jeremiah/Jerilynn Blake [RO, FtM/MtF]: The team's sweetheart, they're loved by everybody, and for a good reason. Always sporting a smile on their face and snacks in their hand, they quickly become one of your closest friends at Boarwood University.

Bree [RO, F/M/NB]: Your best-friend and setter in your old team. They quit volleyball but still enrolled at Boarwood to be with you. A constant in your life since you were little, you'll find that Nikita's presence will create tension between you two. What's really going on between them?

Andrea [RO, F/M/NB]: Despite being the Boarwood Titans' most dedicated supporter, their stoic and hot-and-cold behaviour confuses you. They take an interest in you, only to ignore you for days. What's really up with this myserious med student?

Angelina/Angelo [RO, F/M/NB]: Your charming ex. Things get messy when you find out your least favourite ex is at Boarwood, and they seem dedicated to not making you forget the past you had, and not in a positive way. Oh boy, spotting them at one of your games might cause either the win of the century or your life's biggest blunder.

The Chosen One is a text-based fantasy epic story where, as it often happens, you are the one chosen by the Prophecy, destined to fight in the Last War under the King. Unlike your average tale, though, you most certainly know to be the Chosen One and you have spent all your life waiting for your King’s call.

You will NOT be the victim of events out of your control, nor you’ll be an unwilling participant. You are not an orphan, and your family will not be slaughtered in order for you to unravel your true purpose in this world.

Oh, no. Absolutely not.

Instead, you are prepared and in control. You are powerful, more powerful than any other being that ever walked through this land, and you are ready to fulfil your destiny.

When the story begins, you are in the North, waiting. And when the call finally, finally, happens, you have to set off for the South with your Mentor, as specified in the prophecy. The Last Journey has begun.

Every interaction counts, remember that. But remember also that you are the Chosen One: you can do what you want, you have the power to forge whatever future you want for the Regions and for yourself.

LOVE INTEREST

RASCIA | The Forgotten One Healer (gender selectable M/NB/F): the colour of their skin, as well as the arcane language that litters it, marks them as kaehan, a native of the very kingdom you are prophesised to fight against. But destiny works in strange ways and maybe, after all, they were the one you needed all along. You will have to travel far before you meet them, though, and you will have to fight and to lose more that you ever thought you could shed. Because before you rise, you have to fall.

Rascia is a tall (1.79 m/5'11") person, with wavy waist length sapphire hair, a coral complexion and bright sea blue eyes. Their lean body is almost totally covered by religious silver tattoos, now rendered useless by their condition. As a result of their loss of faith, Rascia is completely colorblind.

OTHER CHARACTERS

The Mentor: they, as you, are part of the Prophecy, chosen to accompany you in the Last Journey. Your bond is… strained. You only want to be looked at with some sort of pride but all you seem to find in their eyes lately is doubt.

ASHEN | The Hero: you’ll soon meet them. Remember this, though: keep your jealousy at bay before it starts consuming you.

The King: not much to say to that. They are the king of the land, you never obviously met them and their true intentions remain unknown.

As the oldest out of the group, Harlowe is the de facto leader of the nephilim, a role that he doesn't take lightly. While he may be cold at first, Harlowe is loyal and severely protective of his loved ones.

Regardless of his soft exterior, Eden is more than capable of defending himself and others, which is why Harlowe has chosen him as his second-hand.

Venom, as thick and toxic as every word and action you have ever exchanged from the very first time you met - doomed to bring you down. Maybe the poison you suffered long ago is still lingering in your veins, a slow death for both of you.

RO#3: The sovereign

Amara Dougal - she/her, 1,81m (5.9ft) - 31yo, straight or gay, race: t.b.a.

You were never meant to be more than a tool for them - an interchangeable toy to kill boredom, play a little game of strength, willpower and dominance. Then you managed to surprise them. Was that your plan all along?

RO#4: The mage

Jia - she/her, 1,65m (5.49ft); he/him, 1,79m (5.87ft); they/them, 1,73m (5.67ft) - 21yo, demi, race: t.b.a.

You stumbled into their life, being the first light in a long while. They are grateful for the new perspectives you bring into their life, even though you turn their whole world upside down. Still, they decided to never let you go again.

RO#5: The mercenary

Havu Guillame - she/her, 1,73m (5.67ft); he/him 1,87m (6.13ft) - 26yo, pan, race: Sertynan

A rusty knife, straight between their shoulder blades sounded like a much more enjoyable scenario than having to spend time with you. Not because you are exceptionally annoying, which you can be, but because bearing anybody else’s burden is nothing more than a waste of time to them.

RO#6: The knight

Daria Baran - she/her, 1,97m (6.46ft) Darius Baran - he/him, 2,03m (6.66ft) - 38yo, straight, race: human

Their oath is the reason why they are stuck with you. If it were possible, they would‘ve avoided it as a whole, but it seems carrying your ass around, reminding you of your manners, duties and cleaning the mess you leave behind you, is their painful responsibility now.

Contra Spem Spiro is a 18+ sci-fi, dystopian romance interactive fiction that follows the MC as you fight to survive an alien invasion and the repercussions of trying to live in a doomed society. This story is intended for mature audiences and will contain scenes of violence/gore, sexual themes, drug use, discussions of mental health, and explicit language. The game is a work in progress and is currently being written.

Your story starts off like any other. 

Your life was normal, until it wasn’t. Two years after the invasion ravaged the Earth, you’re struggling to find purpose. The lonely life of struggle and survival is not for you. You’d promised yourself that if there was ever a zombie apocalypse, or if climate change caused the planet to move towards uninhabitable, you’d end it. That was then. That was when hypotheticals existed. This is reality, and instead of dying, you lived against all odds and continue to do so. 

Why? You don’t know. You wake up fortunate to be alive. Everything between the sunrise and sunset is white noise. Insignificant.

Now, your normal shifts again. Now, you’re making a month’s long journey with a group of strangers, their faces unfamiliar except for the exhaustion in their eyes.

They have a plan, and you’re along for the ride. After all, still water is an infested one. You learned that the hard way.

This is not a story of heroes and villains, or of good triumphing over evil. This is a story of people: the kinds worth living for, and the kinds you wish were dead. This story, your story, is one of survival.

Customize your MC! Play as male, female, or nonbinary. You can determine their appearance and personality, updating it (voluntarily and, uh, involuntarily) as the story progresses. Are they charming or intimidating? Do they use their fists to solve problems, or their keen mind and deductive reasoning? Can they talk their way out of trouble, or do they avoid it in the first place? 

Become an asset to your group. The perfect team has balance. Choose your MC’s strengths and weaknesses; develop them as you see fit. Make decisions that change the lives of your found family, or sit on the sidelines and watch chaos unfold. Do you believe in fate, or will you change your future by force?

Engage in romance, or keep it purely platonic between 5 love interests, with one poly option available. Looking for quick hookups? We have two of those. And yes, you can romance an alien. I don’t judge.

Survive. Easier said than done.

The Strong, Soft-Spoken Leader (F/M)

Ayana is 5′11. Adriel is 6′3.

Age: 29

Before the invasion, A pursued a career in medicine at the expense of leaving their family, members of the Navajo tribe. Compassionate, intelligent, tactical, and ambitious, you have no doubt that A is a natural born leader who would have thrived as a physician. Despite their warm, welcoming demeanor, A is reluctant to pursue close relationships for fear of it interfering with their sense of responsibility to the group. Help A relieve their burden by taking on a share of the authority, or encourage them to throw caution to the wind every once in a while.

The Go-With-The-Flow Girl/Boy Next Door (F/M)

Cecelia is 5′4. Chase is 5′10.

Age: 20

Always up for a laugh, C isn’t interested in the doom and gloom. Their adulthood barely began before the invasion happened, meaning they’re still clinging to what were supposed to be the “best years of my life.” That doesn’t mean they lack competence. C is damn good with technology, (and stick and poke tattoos!), able to rig up electricity seemingly from their back pocket. They take their friendships seriously, and will be the first to defend you when trouble comes knocking. Oh, and did I mention they used to work in a bakery? “Fuck, I miss baked bread.”

*C is demisexual, so although MC can flirt with them from the beginning, it takes a high friendship for them to reciprocate any romantic/sexual feelings.

♡ Veronica Moiarty/Vincent Moiarty

The Insomniatic Anti-Hero (F/M)

Veronica is 5′9. Vincent is 6′0.

Age: 25

Even if V wanted to tell you about themselves, they couldn’t. Having been attacked by an alien those short years ago, they woke up with no memory and a nasty scar on their arm. Others marveled at how they were able to survive such an injury, but V would say that death felt like the better option. Jaded, vengeful, and hot-headed, V isn’t known for their kind words or sensitivity. In fact, who needs enemies when V is there with a scathing comment and a proverbial shove into the mud? You want to hate them, you should hate them. Of course, you don’t.

“What about this conversation makes you think I want to talk to you?”

*Because of V’s canon romantic interest in Z, if you romance V only, they will slowly shift their romantic affection from Z to MC in a realistic manner. The two will always be close friends, but when romancing V alone, MC will eventually become the sole source of their interest.

“Sorry, there just isn’t enough space to feel comfortable,” Fadiya complained as she tried to find a position that let her rest comfortably on the single bed you two were laying on.

You couldn’t help but chuckle at her plight, “Why are you laying so far away from me? I don’t smell that bad.” you teased playfully, “Or are you nervous?”

A faint smile played at the corners of your lips, knowing all too well the effect your teasing banter had on Fadiya. It was as if a delicate enchantment was woven into your words, evoking a blush upon her cheeks. Sometimes, flowers would pop up in her hair when she felt too flustered.
