I’m good. I’m helpful wherever I can be and I’m happy with that. I mean, if I was elected or they needed me somewhere I’d step up but [She shrugged.] I’m content.

What do you guys do if a Centurion... well... passes away? You’re a badass and you’ve been here a while, wouldn’t you get that torch?

Mmm... No. Something happened during that quest in Rome. Nico came back partially out of the closet. I’d love to take credit for that, but I don’t think that was me.

[Sofia shrugs.] Every cohort has great members. And getting into the first just means your letter of recommendation was better. Skill is definitely a factor but I think it comes down to stuff like dedication a lot, too.

When you retire you stay in New Rome or you take your chances out in the world. I’ll probably stay here. But before retirement there are a couple of roles you can be promoted or voted into that are higher than legionnaire. Centurion, Senator, Praetor.

Do you want to be any of those things?

Well, my understanding is you’re the best cohort, although I can’t figure out how that can be true and still have Jason in the supposedly worst cohort. Not to mention Hazel and Frank.

So you’re halfway to retirement. If you don’t get hurt during training, what’s next for you? Do you get promoted the better you get, do they increase the difficulty for you?
