Chise frowned and knelt down, petting Ruth to try and calm him down. She sighed, shaking her head. 

“Sorry puppy, he’s being a bit of a bully-“

She faltered mid sentence, seeming to just be staring at Ruth. Although, people who were… Familiar with familiars knew that she and him were talking to each other. Eventually, she did look up at smile at Link

“…? So your name is Link?“

He couldn’t keep his tail from wagging when she asked him that.

“Yes it is! I’m sorry I wasn’t able to introduce myself earlier!” he grinned happily, “I’m glad I was right in that you two were able to speak to each other!”

He tilted his head a little, he may be right about that but Ruth didn’t look like he was a Twili though he supposed it didn’t hurt to ask, “Um... Pardon my asking but what exactly are you Ruth? You don’t look like a Twili but that’s the only thing I can think of that would enable you to come out of her shadow.”

Granted... Ruth still was glaring at him, so he wasn’t sure if he’d actually get an answer from the other canine.

“Alright, my home’s this way!“

She turned to start to walk home, excited to bring home such an adorable pupper. She’ll find a soft bed for him, and make sure he’s comfy, but of course, someone else was already jealous and in her shadow, and… Popped out of her shadow to glare at the newcomer. 

“H-Hey, Ruth-!“

Did a dog just come out of her shadow? This situation seemed a bit too familiar for him... it didn’t help that the dog was glaring daggers at him either.

His fur instinctively stood on end, though he wasn’t glaring back just yet after all other than glare, he hadn’t attacked him. Yet anyway. “Um... Hello?” he greeted awkwardly before blinking at the name Ruth. So this was Ruth? Maybe he can tell the girl that his name was Link then...

Hopefully he would be willing to listen.

“Well... It’s nice to meet you Ruth. My name is Link.”

Time hadn’t expected this, he was sitting on the other side of the tree in wolf form when he heard the other. He looked up, peeking around the three when he saw Twi kneeling by his grave. He listened for a moment before walking up silently, pressing his nose to Twi. “…. Hello..” The wolf glanced down at his paws, kinda worried about how the other would react. @thewolfishhero

Twilight had returned to Castle Town after traveling around Hyrule for the last couple of weeks. He greeted Telma at her bar and Agitha in her house, giving the two some gifts he’d acquired in his travels before heading towards Hyrule Castle. The guards let him in without any complaint as he expected and he made a beeline for the ever familiar grave he always visited.

He kneeled down in front of it, placing down the flowers he’d always bring, “Hello.” it was a simple greeting. He didn’t feel comfortable calling him the Shade or Hero’s Shade after regaining his little amount of knowledge of his past incarnation as the Hero of Time. Calling him ‘Link’ just felt strange as well, so he normally opted to not say anything other than hello before explaining what he’d been doing since the last time he’d visit.

Before he could though, he felt a wet nose touching his leg and he couldn’t help jolting in surprise when he saw who it was. The ever familiar golden wolf was there in front of him! Something seemed different about him though, he could tell it was the old Hero, there was no other wolf with fur as gold as his and yet something was different and he couldn’t put his finger on it.

He could only stare in confusion, no words came to mind. Really what were you supposed to say when you come face to face with your mentor who raised you to become a hero since you were a child and you hadn’t seen them in over 3 years?

Mipha had been trying to focus solely on her breathing, knowing if she could get that in check, the pain would be manageable. She had always had her healing magic to fall back on, meaning there was only one other time she felt so HELPLESS– and just that mere MEMORY was bringing her breath to grow slightly more ragged with fear. 

She was ALIVE. She was SAFE. She needed to not think about such a time again. Link’s companion had prevented them from striking her down. Still, that memory was so STRONG within her that her power of reasoning seemed gone and shudders would roll through her. The only thing that pulled her back to reality was the sudden feeling of the wolf pulling her onto his back. Trembling arms slowly wrapped around him, helping to ground her to reality once more. 

Face was soon buried into the wolf’s UNIQUE fur as he brought them both away from the scene. Once more she focused on breathing, trying to get rid of the chills and shivers that terrible memory brought to her. It was still far too FRESH and new to her. She needed to focus on getting her healing jump started once more, DESPITE the exhaustion she was feeling. 

As they arrived at the campsite, her grip loosened. The next few minutes were a blur as she tried to focus solely on her breathing and allow those pains to sink PAST her conscious mind. However, eyes were jolted open at the sudden FAMILIAR voice. It reminded her on one she swore she’d heard WHISPERS of around Link. Golden gaze focused SOLELY on him for a moment, taking a moment to realize just WHAT this was. Words momentarily ELUDED her as she tried to piece together how this man before her and the wolf from before could POSSIBLY be one in the same. Finally, after a moment of silence, she spoke again– though only one word could come out between her pain and confusion.

“ …How? ”

Twilight couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled out of his throat, before quickly covering his mouth, “Well it’s a bit of a long story, if you’d like I can tell it later.” he picked up the supplies he’d grabbed, “But for now, I would rather focus on making sure this is properly bandaged up.”

He took his hat off and filled it with some rice he’d gotten as an offering from a villager who seemed to think he was the reincarnation of a God. While he was planning on returning it, he supposed it came in handy now. He tied it off then soaked it before placing it on a rock over his campfire, using his little knowledge on fire magic to start it and let it warm up.

Turning back to the princess, he carefully moved the tail on her head so he could see the gash better and started work on cleaning the wound, trying to be as gentle as possible. Once it was cleaned and he felt his hat was warm enough, he placed the makeshift compress onto her wound, “I hope it’s not too warm for you Princess Mipha.”

“This is just to make sure there’s no infection. You’ll have to stay on your stomach for the next 30 minutes but after that I’ll wrap some gauze around it then bandage it up.” he said as he rummaged through his bag, “Once you feel good enough to walk, I don’t mind escorting you back to Zora’s Domain. In the meantime though...”

He pulled out a couple different fish, “While we’re here, I don’t mind making something for us to eat. Do you have a preference of which fish I use?”
