As soon as I receive the "Sorry I missed you" reply, my automatic reply has already triggered in response. This sets off a chain of exponential email responses that soon become uncountable. Within an hour, the corporate servers are full and can do nothing but process these emails. Within 2 hours, every major Internet provider in the United States is overwhelmed by sending these emails back and forth.
By evening, the streets are drowning in "Please contact my supervisor with emergent needs" and "Looking forward to connecting when I return."
