Ngl it is so fitting that the show written by two men takes every opportunity to set up a good female relationship dynamic and then diminish it to nothing by the end

Nancy and Barb? Nothing about them after season 2

El and Max? Amazing chemistry in S3 just to have them seperated in S4, and then get basically zero scenes together in S5

Nancy and Robin? More great chemistry that they do nothing with.

Robin and Vickie? Make them a romantic couple but have them break up by the end.

Every major female character in this show is almost entirely defined by their relationship to male characters. Even the lesbian character exists to be Steve's friend and nothing more.

I mean I was also there with everyone too. I thought the mise en scene actually mattered in this show and there were too many details that couldn't be written off. But I always had a layer of skepticism because if there's one thing straight people in hollywood will do it's grift the lgbtq community for profit.

I think there's a lesson here, to put more support into art that is made by queer people because ultimately that's who is actually fighting for lgbtq representation on screen 99% of the time.
