Sometimes I think about the fact that prior to that first Minecraft Monday outside of Hypixel's skyblock/bedwars community Technoblade was basically unknown, and when he JOINED Minecraft Monday the first time he was favored to win but basically no other contestant had any idea who he was...
....except Skeppy.
Skeppy, who had also played on Hypixel. And like leaving aside the real world implications let's slide into a fictional universe where you're entering this tournament, there's gonna be a lot of fights and a lot of famous names are there and cool, you're one of them. You're Skeppy. People know you, people love you.
And then you see another name on the list and it makes your blood run absolutely ice cold.
Somehow. Some way.
Technoblade has been entered.
And everyone around you in like the big waiting room has no idea. You're the only one who knows. You hear a few people mention his name and they're like 'eh whatever' but you know what's coming. He's broken containment. He's come down from the sky and not one of these fools are ready do you warn them? Do you say anything at all? It's better if your opponents are caught off guard, sure, but there's gotta be limits! There's common decency to consider!
But time is running out and you can't decide and then he's there, just. Casually making his way to the entry arch like everyone else. No one's giving him space. No one cares.
He catches your eye.
You remember falling. For hours.
He smiles at you and doesn't say a word.
Then he's through the archway and gone and all you can say to your partner is, "Avoid Technoblade. Trust me."
Because you don't stop natural disasters. You just get the hell out of the way.
Maybe all the things you thought made you you aren’t really…you. Barbie (2023) / Fight Club (1999)
He affects 5G towers like metal does a microwave
He walks into Chernobyl and parts the radiation like Moses did the Red Sea
Fuck you
worst post ive ever seen anywhere ever
Got an interesting take on eldritch horror for all you writers out there. It's a bit of a roundabout schlep to reach the actual idea, but writers tend to be readers so I hold you'll stick with me til we get there.
So, consider a 2D creature. Little flat dude, living on the ground. No concept of "up" or "down." He's 2D, he just doesn't parse the concepts and can't perceive them anyways.
He sees you. What he actually sees is just the 2D cross section of you where you intersect with his 2D world, which is probably your footprints. So, as far as he can tell, you are a pair of footprints that are.... apparently one being? He doesn't get how it works exactly, but it's not too far out there, so he just kind of accepts that, yes, humans are The Two That Are One. Spooky. They always seem to use the singular to refer to the pair of themselves, and only differentiate between themselves as Left or Right. But other paired instances of The Two That Are One are, in fact, separate entities. So they're only in sets of two, unless accompanied by a companion called "Cane," which they are sometimes, or even a pair of companions called "Crutches." When Crutches are present, sometimes one of The Two That Are One will be missing entirely. It's a little confusing.
But wait, what now? They disappear and reappear in sequence, teleporting in turns. He never sees them just move like a 2D being, always the stop-start teleporting. Apparently this strange power is called "walking," and its accomplished by The Two That Are One moving through an unseen dimension called "Up," through a process called "lifting" themselves and re-entering the real world farther away in the direction they wanted to go. He can accept the idea of unseen dimensions, and he vaguely gets the idea that one of The Two That Are One must remain anchored in the real world to prevent something called "falling," which is some kind of uncontrolled movement through the unperceivable dimension of "Down." Which is the same dimension as "Up," but...... backwards? Reversed? He's not really clear, but "Falling Down" is presumably bad, so The Two That Are One keep one of themselves here in the real world to prevent it.
Except if they do something called "jumping." Which consists of gathering up their power to hurl themselves through the Up dimension together to reappear together somewhere else in the real world. He isn't sure why they Walk instead of Jump, since it seems better to take both of The Two That Are One together at the same time, but okay.
Okay, what the hell, they can Walk through impenetrable barriers like the great wall of Sidewalk Chalk? How do they go through that? What? They went "Over?" The hell is "Over?" Like 'around' but through the unseen dimension of Up? But they couldn't Walk through the barrier of Wall. Why could they go "Over" Sidewalk Chalk but not Wall?
And they can't go between the four small obstacles of Refrigerator Feet. The area between them is safe from The Two That Are One, for the four Refrigerator Feet are connected to each other in the strange and eldritch dimension of Up. The barriers are too powerful to be moved by The Two That Are One, and it (they?) cannot enter the real world where it is blocked by such powerful forces.
Got all that?
Okay, now consider a 4 dimensional elder god and how we 3D entities would perceive them.
peeling those sour rainbow gummy strips into long thin strings and putting them into cheap energy drink to create something im calling battery acid spaghetti will update once ive finished it
dont do this
I really hope its not too bad bc i actually love both components.
it forms a dry skin at the top made of the sour pellets. not a great start.
tastes really good actually. i also feel like i am about to explode.
do not do this.
Unanimous consensus: Do not do this
Other people: Hold on I’m about to do this
I keep seeing this post going around so, for folks who want to know why not, here's a chemist's hypothesis:
-Human saliva has an average pH of ~6.7 (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3800408/), which is pretty neutral.
-Monster energy has a pH of ~2.7 (https://patientconnect365.com/DentalHealthTopics/Article/Energy_Drinks_and_Your_Teeth_Should_You_Worry), which is quite acidic but not dangerous, except to your tooth enamel if consumed in large quantities.
-Rainbow sour belts contain malic acid (a common food additive as a potent acidifier and sour-flavor agent), citric acid (another common sour flavoring in pretty much everything) as well as ascorbic acid (aka vitamin C, used here mainly as a preservative). (https://candypros.com/products/sour-belts-bulk-rainbow)
-All of these acids when added to water would normally release their protons (H+ ions), thereby making the water solution more acidic. However, a chemical constant of these acids called the acid dissociation constant (pKa for short) indicates the pH of a solution at which acids are most likely to keep or release their protons. The pKa's* of these acids are higher (3.4, 3.1, and 4.2 for malic, citric, and ascorbic acids respectively) than the pH of the solution (2.7), which essentially means that the acids can't release their protons and all that acidic potential is trapped in the solid formulation of the candy.
-There's also some evidence that sugar decreases the solubility of acids in water solutions (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3411471/ only sorbic acid is discussed here but it's relatively structurally similar to the acids in discussion). The undoubtedly high sugar content of both the Monster and the candy therefore may contribute to the accounts of the sour crystals bubbling/floating on top of the solution instead of dissolving.
-Malic acid in particular is notorious for causing mouth irritation when eaten in high quantities.
-Thus, I can imagine that upon consuming the battery acid spaghetti, not only is the mix itself quite potently sweet/sour, but also the solid malic acid coming into direct contact with your mouth quickly becomes painful, and as the solution mixes with your (pH neutral) saliva the trapped acidity of the malic/citric/ascorbic acids is dumped into your mouth and esophagus, creating a sensation that I can only imagine is similar to consuming actual battery acid (pH = 0.8).
(*Each of these acids actually has multiple pKa's corresponding to number of protons they're able to donate, but really only the lowest pKa is useful here since once that one dissociates then all of the other ones are already dissociated too.)
You see, if he retires, the depression will catch him.
Here's the teaser trailer for The Boy and the Heron!
I don’t think it’s depression. I think it’s that he has a career and a vision that keeps him going lol.
I hope everyone finds a job like that honestly. Work you enjoy and find meaningful and that you keep coming back to. They say that once you retire, your health declines faster actually.
No shade to people who work to live of course and plan to retire! But having a fulfilling life and career you can keep coming back to is a real treasure that you should hold onto when you can.
Look, I'm not gonna seriously arm chair diagnose world renowed animation directors over here. But some of the documentary footage of Miyazaki (especially in 10 years with Hayao Miyazaki and the Kingdom of Dreams and Madness) shows him...really struggling at times, especially between projects. He's described himself as "manic depressive" in interviews as well. He smokes a lot, has a difficult relationship with his family, and generally seems to have an intensely cynical view of life.
Which seems wild, given how gentle and hopeful his movies tend to be. But I think that's kind of the point for him. He uses his films to find comfort and joy in a world that he knows can be painful and difficult. Making hopeful and joyful films is a calling and a distraction, it's aspirational.
It's why we get memes like this-
He's also exactly the embodiment of this-
is this something

this video is genuinely incredible - the framing, the sunset, the single street light, the sound of traffic and cicadas in the background, the video of the sign capture imperfectly by (presumably) a phone camera. it’s a work of art and a perfect encapsulation of 21st century america
sashisu week on twitter day 1 - shoko’s birthday
japanese school year begins in april, and i assume jujutsu tech follows the same timeline. shoko’s birthday would come first out of the three so it would be the first birthday sashisu would celebrate…!
prequel to the cutscene
I WAS FUCKING RIGHT he is NOTTTT BEATING THE OTTO ALLEGATIONS.
A video to truly capture my pain of farming for these two at the same time
Very brave of me to make a set of illustrations that's 90% hands
Anyway. This is about my personal theories/headcanons about the vision requirements
EDIT: I made a post elaborating on my theories/headcanons! Check it out if you wanna know a bit more :D
the people of teyvat saying phrases like "oh thank *insert archon*" while in the presence of said archon is one of my favorite things ever
read a fic where kaveh said "thank the dendro archon, he's gone" while nahida was in the room and she's just like "you're welcome :)"
this needs to be used more often
