A sudden question that popped into my head but now I'm curious....
Fanfiction writers for the Predator Fandom, what was your reason to start writing Yautja fics? Like what motivated you mainly?
Me, I guess it was kinda of a spark out of nowhere for me. I had my OCs, I already loved Cat and Wild as a couple and then one day, I thought 'What would it be like if they were a Yautja X Human couple?'. Combine also the lack of gay ships with Yautja and how fast I got hyperfixated on Yautja, I got big motivation to just basically do the work myself and make exactly what I was seeking for. Sometimes, you really do just gotta do it.
When I first got into yatuja/ their lore, I hadn't entered the tumblr space for it, so I never really though fanfiction for it was a possible thing (even though I had written stuff for other fan spaces before).
Once I saw it existed and really got into it, the big push for writing my own fan fiction came from there not being a lot of stuff that fit what I really craved.
While there was and still are some great fics, there wasn't (and still aren't) many works that have queer yautjas, fat/plus-size MCs (for both x reader and OC), and especially not both. While this is a common issue in at least 90% of the fandom's I've been in, the Yautja fanspace is much more friendly and open to original characters and OC x OC works, making me more comfortable trying to actually write to fill this gap.
I hope this answers your question!
I genuinely believe that yautjas that take on human partners are not prepared to be as "out-freaked" by their human partner as they are.
I cannot tell y'all how much joy I get seeing oc or x reader yautja fics that note the nudity difference in humans and yautja. Its a smaller cultural thing but I love it so much.
My favorite is when the yautja starts undressing or is naked in a situation where being so is normal to them and the human is there like :0 and they aren't sure whether they should be flustered, horny, or both.
Iâm tired of seeing lean, mean deadly yautja queens. This NOT hating on the slender graceful deadly Yautja females! I just personally love the idea of a female Yautja that is beautiful and an absolute f*cking unit.
So I decided to make Cwtch into that very Yautja female! Cwtch is my self insert so I guess you could say she would be a Yautja sona now. LOL! I need to make her gear complete with skull mask and her signature hammer.
I loosely based her on Predator KOK Jotun/ Upgrade Predator and a mix of Ceratopsians species (Triceratops/Diabloceratops/Pachyrhinosaurus)
Sheâs beauty, sheâs graceâŚ..sheâll body slam you through a wall with her face.
Tell me why in my notes for Ak'han I wrote "BUTCH LESBIAN" in all caps and underlined it.
I mean I'm right but-
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you plan to read the Alien novels (Sea of Sorrows, River of Pain, etc), be prepared for the most cishet man writing you will ever fucking see.
No, I don't wanna hear about your self insert fucking or wanting to fuck Ripley. No I don't want to hear you describe another woman or how this attractive woman is sooo into your main male MC.
I hope the xenomorphs eat them. That is the only joy I gain from these damn novels.
Sometimes writing your yautja fic is about figuring out the emotional vulnerabilities of your characters and how those would keep them from forming a relationship in the beginning.
Other times, its figuring out the logistics of how a yautja would perform oral.
Both are important.
Me: Oh yay, a new predator fic :D! I don't see any tags that would upset me, so I should be able to read this fin-

Niluar Headcanons
General
- She is one of the few non-elder yautja of her clan who have hunted and killed a Xenomorph Queen (it was done with 2 other yautja). - While she, around 350 years old, is and has been of mating age for many seasons, she has not taken a mating partner nor bore any children, much to the distaste of some clan members. She has coupled with two other yautja women before, but is no longer in either relationship. - She has always found herself at home in the cold, dark waters of Duturn, preferring to hunt its waterborne or amphibian creatures to keep her there longer. Much of the jewelry she wears is made either from their teeth, most colorful scales, or other treasures she finds beneath the waves. Her most treasured pelt is from a Leopard Seal.
I wanted to make a post about a topic thatâs often overlooked in the fandom: sexism in Yautja culture. Over time, Iâve come across a few examples in the expanded universe that subtly, and sometimes not so subtly, hint at cultural sexism. Iâd like to share a few notable instances from the books If It Bleeds, Rift War, and, arguably the richest sources of female Yautja lore, Eyes of the Demon and Ultimate Prey. These last two, in particular, offer valuable insight into the lives and struggles of female Yautja. While the signs may be subtle, the sexist undertones are definitely there.
Before diving in, I want to be clear, I fully acknowledge that Yautja culture, in theory, treats the genders equally. Males arenât considered superior to females, nor are the females superior to the males. But just because thatâs the rule on paper doesnât mean it always plays out that way in practice. Thatâs the core issue I want to highlight.
⸝
đ Rift War
In one chapter, a male Yautja named ArâWen reflects on his training days, when he was paired with a female named Mei-Jadhi Kaail by the elders. The goal was for them to learn to fight as a team. ArâWen notes that Mei-Jadhi was briefly bullied during training, and while itâs never explicitly stated, itâs easy to speculate that her gender played a role, especially since she was the only female among a group of unblooded males. Thankfully, she shuts down the bullying quickly by proving herself in combat. What really stood out to me, though, was how threatened the males became once she started outperforming them. ArâWen even questions himself at one point, saying
âWas she trying to act too much like a male?â
That line hit. It reflects something we see all the time in real life. How often are confident women labeled as âtoo aggressiveâ or told theyâre âacting like a manâ simply for standing their ground.
⸝
đ If It Bleeds â Rematch
This short story follows a Yautja couple: Nakande (male) and Vagouti (female). Thereâs a lot of misinformation floating around about Vagouti. People often say she led the hunt or that she was larger than Nakande, but in truth, she was described as smaller and not the leader. Like⌠did we even read the same book? O_O? Anyway, what I want to focus on is the arrogance and slight hints of sexism, Nakande displays. Throughout the hunt, Vagouti repeatedly advises caution. She warns him not to underestimate the older humans theyâre tracking. But Nakande brushes her off. He even assigns her to handle the woman, assuming it would be the easier kill, while he takes on the man.
Of course, his arrogance gets him killed later on. In his final moments, Nakande admits he shouldâve listened to her, that he underestimated both her and their targets. Itâs a sufficient moment, and it really made me reflect. How often do we see men ignore their partnersâ warnings, only to regret it later? Whether itâs ego, pride, or social conditioning, itâs a dynamic that feels very real.
⸝
đ Eyes of the Demon â Bitter Hunt
In this story, a female Yautja named Akâkili, along with her hunting hound, Xave, tracks three Bad Bloods. Tragically, one of them turns out to be her own son, Dakdwade. After she takes down two of them, sheâs left facing her son. Before the battle, they exchange a few words. One line from Akâkili struck me deeply
âMy mate wonât even look at me because of what youâve done.â
It made me wonder whether in Yautja society, are mothers blamed for how their sons turn out? Does the father place all the responsibility on the mother? Itâs a subtle line, but it hints at a possible cultural bias that holds females accountable for their sonâs failures, something weâve seen reflected in many human societies.
đ Eyes of the Demon â Cannon Fodder
In the same book, in a different chapter titled Cannon Fodder, thereâs a very subtle line, while not overtly sexist, still raises eyebrows. Itâs something no human would realistically say if the Yautja in question were male.
A female Yautja named Laâvindi is taken down and nearly captured by humans. During this scene, a human male says to her
"You be a good girl and come with me so we can learn all about you."
Now, imagine if the roles were reversed and the Yautja was male. No sane human, especially in the middle of a deadly encounter and after watching a teammate die, would be saying something like âgood boyâ in that situation. The use of âgood girlâ here feels oddly specific and unnecessarily gendered, and it subtly reinforces stereotypes even if unintentional.
⸝
đ Ultimate Prey â Another Mother
This short story doesnât beat around the bush. The sexism here is blatant.
Yehâkull, the female Yautja protagonist, expresses her frustration with being sheltered and limited to soft missions. Sheâs desperate to be treated as an equal, to participate in real hunts like her male counterparts. But the clan elders refuse to allow it.
Eventually, sheâs had enough. She disobeys her orders and sets out on her own mission, going as far as to hunt a Xenomorph queen.
And spoiler, yes, she kills the queen and is finally blooded. Only then is she freed from being labeled a Lou-dte kalei.
Let that sink in, Yehâkull had to kill a literal Xenomorph Queen just to be acknowledged as worthy. Not for glory, not for honor, but simply to be blooded, just to be freed from the degrading label of Lou-dte kalei. In Yautja culture, that term roughly translates to breeder, a word used to degrade and devalue females.
⸝
đ Alien vs. Predator â Hunterâs Planet
Even in this older novel, where the females are portrayed as larger and stronger in this particular series, they still experience sexism, albeit often behind their backs instead.
Itâs been quite a while since I last read these books, and unfortunately, I donât have a screenshot to back this up. I can only try to summarize what stuck with me.
Thereâs a scene where a group of males mock another male, implying he âreeks of a femaleâ, essentially using femininity as an insult to question his masculinity. Itâs a subtle but telling example of how the female gender is used as a punchline.
I hesitated to mention this without direct proof, which is why I put it for last. But if anyone has a screenshot of the scene Iâm referring to, Iâd really appreciate it if you could share it.
⸝
Thatâs pretty much all I wanted to say on the topic. While most examples are subtle, stories like Another Mother make it clear that sexism exists in the Yautja universe. Iâve always found this aspect of the lore fascinating, and Iâm honestly surprised it doesnât come up more often in the fandom. Thatâs why I wanted to make this post, to bring attention to something thatâs often ignored but worth exploring.
Disclaimer: Nothing I am saying here is against OP; It's against a lot of the predator story writers. I love OP for bringing this up with quotes cause it made me change how I think about yatuja culture a bit.
I honestly have a love hate relationship (mainly on the side of hate) with this idea, or rather with how it appears in the current fiction.
The hate mainly comes from that fact that this idea of sexism in yautja culture isn't actually one created cause its an interesting avenue, but one there because the male writers likely took human sexism which most of us have experienced and threw it onto Yautja women, with little regard to older lore or even trying to think outside the box for once in their lives.
Random Headcanon I just had:
Yautja like to prep up their nests when it's mating season. What they do is essentially gather anything ranging from pelts, leaves and pillows to create the comfiest hole in the ground you've ever seen. Some like to go the extra step and decorate the edges with their trophies to make it more appealing. This is mainly done out of a primordial instinct to want to provide for their mates and create an ideal, safe environment to consume their mating for hours on end.
This behavior is seen much more frequently with actually mated pairs rather than only 'one time' couplings during mating season. And it's not just males who do it, females might also occasionally take care of this aspect to drop the hint that they're ready for mating.
Does anyone else think Yatuja's rely more on a trade and bartering economy, meaning they don't really have a currency (at least the non Bad Blood ones).
You need some armor edits, new clothing, maybe even some specialized weapons? You give the local yautja skilled in that area prime usable or consumable parts of your latest kills or other materials that they would require.
I think this idea plays well into their hierarchy with newly blooded and young bloods having more barren ships/homes and basic supplies because they don't have the goods needed to trade at that level yet.
On the other hand, you have elders, enforcers, and other higher ranking yautja having more lavish supplies and decorated quarters. They have not only the skill to bring back materials worth trading but also the knowledge of what materials would go farther in what areas.
Reminder:
The term/abbreviation "afab" means Assigned Female at Birth, and being afab does not mean the person you are describing is a woman nor is it a shorter term for cis-woman.
You can be a man, woman, or nonbinary individual and be AFAB.
Please use this term correctly when tagging your stuff.
Help me name my Yautja!
As I am working through my outline for Circe and Ak'han's fic (15 chapters deep now), I decided to finally give a name to my other (younger) sapphic Yautja, but I'm not sure which one. The words in the parenthesis are meaning of the name to the left of it.
Which name sounds best?
Set'wei (Quick Death)
Kan'tekai (Honor's cry)
Niluar (Moon Born)
Vordha (Water Stalker)
Set-var (Deadly Hunt)

Her prowess as a Hunter and Fighter coupled with her size grants her a high status in the clan, her more combative nature lands her alone most of the time.
Her favorite pray are the many aquatic beasts that lay under the ice with her using their scales and bones to decorate her tresses and home.
If you have any suggestions or questions, please feel free to comment them. I built all these names off official yautja words, so they may look weird.

Summary: Breeding season was only a week away when you finally pop the question to Gawtin. At first, you thought she would be made or think it as weird, but when she accepts. You are more than happy to go around the tribe and see who is worthy enough for Gawtin. You pick out males who catch your artistic eye while your mate finds ones with the skills she likes.
Author Note: Good to see you're back cup anon! I loved writing this one! Honestly, I've never thought about this but it definitely would fit into the Yautja world if they're a same sex couple.
P.S. I'm sort of back! Kind of. Still working on typing up the stories I have written down in my notebook. I'm also getting some backups for my patreon so I have some ready to be posted.

There was no missing the thick scent of testosterone in the air that plugged your senses. All the males in the tribe were on edge. It was dangerous for you to roam around at time like this. So, for the time being until the hormones left the yautjas systems, you were stuck in your mateâs home. It was for your safety though. A hormonal, raging yautja male will think of you as a threat. This was a mutual agreement between you and your mate for you stay home.
Me: Wow, it's been a second since I've gotten into Yautja stuff. I don't know if I'll come back to it so-"
