Rhys smirks into his drink as Podric effectively knocks over his chair in his excitement to see him. He turns to face his old friend as Pod walks over and places a hand on his shoulder, “Three months or something of the like,” he smiles, “I’ve been good. Picking up more matches to ref, which means picking up a little more money to spend here,” he shrugs, “What exotic locale are you coming back from this time around, mate?”
It’s been too long since Rhys has seen a friendly face, too long since he’s seen someone who knows him - almost inside and out. Pod was there for him at Hogwarts, at every match for Ravenclaw. He was there when Rhys was spending most of his time in and out of the hospital with his Da, and, inevitably, was there during the fall.
"Oh fuck it," he mutters, and pulls Pdrick into a hug - there’s not enough people in Rhys’ life he feels the need to be close to, but Pdorick’s one of them.
There were many things that had changed since their days at Hogwarts, sitting together in the Common Room, with Podric reading yet another book on Wandlore, and Rhys listening to the Wireless to hear any news on the Quidditch Front, and since then so much had changed. The two friends had gone in different directions in their lives and lost touch as their lives rushed forward, but there was one thing which didn't change, there was one thing which stayed the same throughout all the heartbreak that had been witnessed throughout their lives, an that was the smile of Podric's old friend. It still had the same emotions tied to it with Podric, it could still light up the most darkest rooms and it could still make Podric weak at the knees, the same affect that it had on him in his Seventh year. This was always kept a secret from Rhys and over time it was covered by more secrets, either the secrets of many of his customers, or of his own. It wasn't until that very moment that Podric remembered his feelings towards the dark haired wizard. "At least it is keeping you busy. Being isolted from people is one of the worse things to experience" he replied with a small smile perched on his lips.
"Asia, or to be more specific, the rainforest. They have some of the most beautiful dragon Heartstrings I've seen. It's a shame Grandfather never witnessed it." As he finished speaking, he couldn't help but let out a small sigh of contentment as he thought back to his journey. As he was pulled into a hug, Podric couldn't help but frown. It had been a while since another's arms had been wrapped around him, far too long in fact, but the frown soon disappeared and his arms wrapped around Rhys' shoulders and before he knew it, a wide smile had crept upon his lips "It's really good to see you old friend"
