Finally living up to the book binding part of my descriptor, we have a binding of brushstrokesApocalyptic's An Umbrella Term (please go read it it's heartwarming - and on Ao3). This is both the first book I ever bound and the first fan fic I ever read, so I'm glad I got to rebind it.

I wanted to get across the whole memory deal the voidfish likes to fish up, hence the translucent film over the front.

Now featuring all seven birds along the edges (though you can't see them all here).

Finally drew up an old OC of mine. They were meant to feature in a DnD campaign but the players got distracted and never made it to that far. Behold, the space god. Mostly made of (you guessed it) space and draped in clothes which they refuse to style to match the rest of the pantheon. And yes, both arms are shoved into one armhole of the hoodie, it's hard to find four armed ones.

I've been toying with the idea of some sprites for a Greek gods game concept for a while, and while the main character's design is pretty set, the other gods' designs are still in the sketch phase.

So here we have the first designs for Hestia, Athena and Hera. Hera still has a few changes to make to her design, but Athena is basically done.

Thinking about the girls again! Never really nailed down Gideon's design but Nona's really helped with Harrow's.

I do think Harrow should get to wear some fancy bone adorned dresses, just for fun.

Testing out some markers! Devo, Amber and Zoox were such great characters, so it was nigh on time to flesh out their designs (or coral out, I suppose).

Still have to finish off the Zoox sketch, his armour is fun to design.

I'd planned on making an entire deck of characters once upon a time, but never ended up finishing the whole thing. The sketch for Fisher was the only final draft I ended up liking enough to colour.

Given my most recent decent into madness (read; my first ongoing listen through of ars Paradoxica) I think it's time to write about something I was delighted to hear them talk about on the show.

Tense specific aphasia.

But before we get into that, let's answer a slightly more general question: what actually is aphasia?

Well, it's a disorder usually caused by a stroke ( or excessive time travel in this case) that damages the language area of the brain. This can result in difficulty understanding and/or producing words.

Specifically, tense specific aphasia is meant to be representative of a kind of agrammatic aphasia. In other words, a disorder where you can't get the grammar in your sentences quite right. This 'agrammatism' can be a symptom of Broca's aphasia, a common form of aphasia where you understand what's going on around you but you can't produce the appropriate language in response. Think of it like having trouble finding those words - like they're on the tip of your tongue all the time and you just can't reach them.

Verbs can be a particularly challenging area within an agrammatic subtype, especially non infinitive verbs. Or in terms that most of us don't have to look up on Wikipedia, words that have a tense attached to them: travelled/travelling, called/calling etc. As opposed to their infinitive counterparts (travel, call) which do not.

While the symptoms Donovan or Sally displays are a bit different from your typical aphasia, it's great to see such a neurologically complex and under represented disorder portrayed. I love that it has been so carefully linked as an outcome to messing with time. Mess with the timeline and the recoil will mess with your ability to describe what has-will be-is happening around you!
