one of my earliest memories is trying to play star trek with some random kid and him telling me that i couldn't play because i was a girl and that there was a reason they said "where no MAN has gone before" and then me owning his punk ass by listing all the female officers i could think of, starting to throw hands, and yelling at him as my dad dragged me away: "it's where no ONE has gone before, stupid!!"

i wonder if my dad remembers that. i wonder if that misogynist little asshole remembers me. i hope he does.

*and yeah i know she isn't actually lesbian but i feel like the way she is perceived probably made some people feel represented and she sure as hell made me feel empowered as a kid
