— Henri Barbusse, from The Inferno (Boni and Liveright, 1918)
“It is strange how close the past is, even when you imagine it to be so far away. Strange how it can just jump out of a sentence and hit you. Strange how every object or word can house a ghost.”
— Matt Haig, How to Stop Time
“Just because we mess up doesn’t mean all the lessons we learned are undone. Healing can be imperfect.”
— Jonathan Van Ness, Over The Top (via anditslove)
i’m always tired but never of you
爱不是谁够努力 就值得被珍惜
Nothing haunts us like the things we don’t say
If it makes you happy it doesn’t have to make sense to others
I’m a paradox. I want to be happy, but I think of things that make me sad. I’m lazy, yet ambitious. I don’t generally like myself, but i also love who i am. I sat I don’t care, but I really do. I crave attention, but reject it when it come my way. I’m a conflicted contradiction. If I can’t figure myself out, there’s no way anyone else has either.
You still think about it every day. You think about it less and less every day, but it’s still every day. What about 3 years ago though? What did you think about every day back then, because it wasn’t this, was it? And whatever it was, you probably don’t still think about it every day, do you? You might not even remember what it was that you couldn’t stop thinking about 3 years ago today. But that’s the point. Things that take up our entire life today, things that destroy us and feel like the literal end of the world, will mean nothing one day. We might not even remember them.
“In your life, you meet people. Some you never think about again. Some, you wonder what happened to them. There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you. And then there are some you wish you never had to think about ever again. But you do.”
— C.S. Lewis, The Wonder Years (via amargedom)
you must teach your heart to accept what cannot be changed.
