1. Work on becoming an exceptional listener. There’s nothing more attractive, and appealing, than someone who listens intently to you.
2. Keep reading, and seek to develop a wide range of interests. That makes it easier to talk to you, and to exchange ideas with…
What does it mean to be mindful?
Being mindful does not necessarily have to involve setting aside hours upon hours of time to sit and reflect. It does not require any special equipment, location, prayers or mantras. Being mindful simply means taking some time, any amount that feels right to you, and truly living in the moment. Looking at your life. Reflecting on yourself.
Ask yourself, how am I genuinely feeling? Do I need anything at this current moment? How can I improve the lives’ of others as of right now?
Being mindful cannot be defined as a single thing, and there is no one definite way of doing it. Do it in a way that feels right to you. And that, my friend, is all that matters.
Note to self:
work fucking harder. suffer in silence and let your success do the talking
What’s Happening?
I wanted to write a quick post about this, it wasn’t planned but we need to cover it for a moment.
How have you been feeling lately? By “lately”, I mean for the past few days, weeks, even hours? Starting very recently, I’ve been feeling very tired. I come home from school feeling exhausted. I have little zeal to do things, whether they be things I like or things I have to do. I wake up in the morning angry and annoyed (more than usual). I’ve been very sensitive, so little things will trigger me to become very sad, or trigger anxiety. I haven’t been able to “handle” things; my emotions will become intense (due to the hypersensitivity I just mentioned), and then my thoughts will start to feel overwhelmed with everything and just want to give up. Not in a suicidal way, but I literally want to no longer exist.
Is that happening to you? It doesn’t have to be all of it, but just some of the symptoms?
I have three things to tell you. One, you are not alone. The entire Indigo School group chat has been randomly talking about these feelings, not in a speculative way, but just casually bringing it up in conversation. Two, this isn’t just a simple coincidence, there’s a reason this is happening. Three, I don’t know that reason.
Honestly, I don’t. Usually I would know it, because I’d be keeping up with what’s going on with Earth in regards to energy, astronomy, and astrology, but due to the lack of motivation/zeal I mentioned earlier, I haven’t done much research.
All I can give you are a few tips that I think should help us all.
Crystals, of course. There are lots of crystals for motivation, the first one I’m going to recommend is carnelian, since I use it for that purpose all the time. Citrine, ruby, apatite, and amethyst are good as well. For boosting your energy, green tourmaline, pink danburite, herkimer diamonds, and moldavite should work. For grounding yourself, use black crystals (hematite, jet, onyx, obsidian). I also recommend kyanite which is great for aligning the chakras, rose quartz which is for attracting/radiating love, and blue calcite which is good for calming anxiety.
Yoga is amazing for grounding yourself. It raises your energy and makes you feel centered and amazing. Try watching some yoga videos on Youtube or reading about specific yoga poses to help what you’re feeling.
Meditation always helps. You can do it in silence, or use binaural beats. Either way, afterward you’ll feel energized and grounded.
Reward yourself. Write a list of things you have to do today, things you want to accomplish. After you accomplish one, reward yourself. It can be with a snack, a nap, watching some of your favorite shows, etc. Don’t make your reward last too long. After you’re done, repeat until your to-do list is done. If your reward lasts longer than the time limit you gave yourself or you end up not accomplishing something, punish yourself. Eat something you don’t like, listen to a song you don’t like, whatever. (Please don’t, like, harm yourself or anything.)
Get some help. Anyone around you, family or friends, should be able to motivate you. Come up with creative ideas to get you back to where you need to be.
Remember, your mental and physical health comes before anything else. So, if you’re feeling that “I give up” emotion, take a break. It can be from school, work, or whatever you’re obligated to. Take some time to recenter things, because you have the right to do so.
If you have any ideas on why so many of us are feeling like this, don’t hesitate to let us know!

Hey everyone! Just a reminder that YES, you can eat healthy and YES you can be healthy eating a vegan diet but the vegan diet is NOT fool proof and people can become sick. I want to post this here so people on this site can know: a) it is very easy to be a healthy, thriving vegan b) you ARE NOT a failure if you use supplements c) every single person, vegan OR omnivore, need to supplement some aspect of their diet and supplementing does not VOID the benefits of a healthy, vegan diet!
“Vegans do need supplements or fortified foods, and admitting that a vegan diet is not automatically pure perfection is way better than getting sick. Here, then, are supplements (or fortified foods) that vegans need: All vegans: Vitamin B12. You can’t get enough by eating unwashed organic produce or mushrooms grown in B12-rich soil. The recommended dose is 25 to 100 micrograms per day or 1,000 micrograms 2-3 times per week. If you have not been taking B12 for a while, start out with taking 2,500 micrograms orally daily for several weeks. You can also get a B12 injection every month from a Naturopathic Doctor. Make sure to supplement with Methylcobalamin, orally or injected, and not Cyancobalamin. Or get a blood test to see where you are and whether you might need a more therapeutic dose.
Most vegans: Vitamin D. If you live where it’s sunny and warm all year and you spend time outdoors without sunscreen, you can make enough. The rest of us need a supplement or fortified foods (just like omnivores do) supplying at least 1,000 I.U.s of vitamin D a day. (Make sure your Vitamin D is sourced from Lichen)
Iodine. Omnivores get most of their iodine from dairy products, which pick up iodine from solutions used to clean cows and equipment on dairy farms. Vegans who regularly eat sea vegetables may get enough, but the content varies a lot as it does for sea salt and other “natural” salts. Miso, which some vegans prefer to use in place of salt—because it’s a whole food—is not usually a good source of iodine. The only reliable sources are iodized salt or a supplement providing around 90 micrograms per day. Iodine is a nutrient that SHOULD NOT be overlooked. It is needed for thyroid health and metabolism and is difficult to get if not eating sea vegetables or salt!
Some vegans: Calcium. We don’t know if vegans have lower needs, but the old “low protein diets reduce calcium needs” theory has taken some real hits in the past years. Based on current understanding–which is admittedly pretty poor–we vegans should strive for the RDA. Our ancestors didn’t drink milk and got all the calcium they needed from wild greens. And even though modern cultivated greens have less, we could get enough calcium just from these foods, too. But the recommendation to eat four or more cups of cooked greens per day makes veganism a hard sell. Without fortified foods, many vegans fall short on calcium. (So do most omnivores; the food industry doesn’t fortify orange juice or instant oatmeal with calcium as a favor to vegans. Those foods are marketed to omnivore women.)
Iron. Young women with heavy periods may have a tough time keeping up with iron needs, and again, this is not a problem that is specific to vegans. Rates of iron deficiency anemia are actually very high among pre-menopausal omnivore women. It can help to take a low dose supplement liquid or capsule (high doses can be hard on the stomach) with orange juice to boost absorption, or to include some fortified foods in the diet. There is some evidence that taking supplements of the amino acid L-lysine boosts absorption of supplemental iron. Possible supplement requirements: DHA: 200 to 300 mg several times a week. It may be a good idea, but we don’t know for sure. I take this amount almost daily and would recommend it in particular for anyone who is prone to depression.
Sound like a lot of supplements? Well, here is some perspective: Omnivores get their vitamin D from fortified foods (cow’s milk is not a natural source of this nutrient) and their iodine from accidental contamination of dairy foods. Many omnivores—women especially—depend on supplements to meet calcium and iron needs. And the Institute of Medicine recommends that everyone over the age of 50 should add vitamin B12 supplements or fortified foods to their diet since it becomes increasingly difficult to digest and absorb the vitamin B12 in animal foods with aging.
Vegans may need to work a little bit harder to meet nutrient needs, but that’s a small trade-off for making choices based on compassion and justice for animals!” See more at: http://www.theveganrd.com/2010/11/recommended-supplements-for-vegans.html#sthash.lOZfFFHK.dpuf
The start of a new school year is a chance to start with a new slate and to improve yourself. Here are 5 quick and easy steps to becoming a better you!
Wash every day. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the morning, after lunch, before bed. You can put your hair in a shower cap if your hair is still clean. If you haven’t washed yet today, go and take a refreshing shower. Feeling clean will make you feel happier and help you concentrate more on your work and less on greasy roots.
Drink a large glass of water every morning before you do anything else. Water will really help you wake up + it’s super healthy!
Dress for comfort AND confidence! I know how easy it is to shove your legs into some yoga pants and to put on an over sized sweater in the morning, but the key to feeling good about yourself is to dress for confidence. Put comfy underwear on, wear a pair of jeans that really fit you well and put on a pretty blouse or a top in your favourite colour.
Be as nice as possible to everyone, including yourself. I have found that complimenting people and seeing how happy they are afterwards really makes me feel a whole lot better than just thinking about how good that top suits her eyes. Go for it! Compliment yourself once a day and you’ll feel yourself gain confidence. Being a nice person is harder than being a mean person, but it’s so worth it guys.
Exercise, meet up with friends, colour in a picture, … Lots of studies have proven that exercise releases endorphins as well as being incredibly good for your body. Go for a run a few times a week and you’ll notice how good you feel after a few weeks! Meet up with some friends you haven’t seen for a while. Go grab a coffee and catch up or go and do something fun together! Colouring in pictures is a personal favourite of mine, and yes, I am aware of how childish that sounds. There are tons of adult colouring books out there nowadays that are more challenging than the kiddie ones. It calms you down much like how yoga does but just without the mat and breathing exercises.

** Exchange meals as needed when you are on the go. Feel free to add more if you are hungry/adjust portion sizes as needed! This is a baseline but everyone’s caloric range varies so make sure you are eating enough for you ! You can begin to make your own meal plans using this base! Pick a recipe for every meal (include leftovers), pick some snacks, a dessert, etc! It helps to choose recipes with common ingredients every week so you have a lower grocery bill!
**If you have an allergy or don’t like something, just replace it with another meal! This is just an idea, not what you have to eat if you vegan. Don’t let a nut allergy or aversion to vegetables stop you :)
Additionally, add in pre/post workout snacks as you need!
