Important missing part:
Zac (middle man here) admitting the evolution part flew over his head so he just did such a good job acting out the drawing that Lily still picks up on it.
Tonight on Game Changer:
The world's most insane game of telephone featuring six comedians, three artists, and a PA with the temperament of a shaking chihuahua being held at gunpoint
I have so much on my mind and no way of expressing it
Previous parts of this comic here HHAHAHA: 1 - 2 - 3 (this one)
Basically part 3 of the "grace avatar-ed himself into an eridian body and meets humans again after hundreds of years" HAHAHAHAH
poor dr grace has one (1) oh gee golly i wonder who it is JK HAHHAAHHAHA
my other PHM art here
Part 2 to this 💫
See you soon with more (angst? fluff? who knows what to expect next?)
Karaoke night gone wrong? (Part 2 here)
First time chucking a brick, kinda nervous haha.
The idea I had in mind was more complex but this is the best I can give y'all right now
Rocky is a cutthroat bitch, statement.
I think there's a great chance the existence of mirrors/reflective surfaces silently fucks Rocky up.
Like, Grace is in the bathroom, shaving, the curtain pulled to the side and suddenly he stops and says "stop touching my stuff". Rocky, frozen, somewhere behind him, can't fathom how Grace sensed that. He was so quiet. The razor is so loud. Grace's still facing away from him. What the fuck.
Grace repairing some panel or other and asks for a tool. Without even turning around, he says "no, not that one, the one to its left". Rocky's like are you shitting me. I know for a fact your hearing is ass. You can only see in one direction and I'm not in it!! What?!
Tbh, I think everyone getting very attached to Tall Adrian™️ kinda makes them miss the potential of the canon reality that Eridians average at 50cm tall.
Grace is living on a planet of toddler sized rocks with twice his strength. If at ANY point he forgets to look where he’s going he is Going Trip Over An Ambassador. Unstoppable force vs. immovable object except Grace is very much stoppable.
Eridians either get used to talking to his shins, craning on their tippy toes to get a good look at his face, or begin forcing him to sit criss-cross applesauce for literally any important meeting. Picture him joining the Erid equivalent of a UN press conference and having to curl up his awkward water body and hug his knees for the whole thing.
He can conceivably be picked up by an alien the size of a hard helmet against his will. He’s surrounded by space roombas with perfect memories and attention spans shorter than his San Francisco classroom who can’t believe he’s incapable of solving complex math in three seconds. He has step stools around his house for them to climb so he can feel like he’s “looking them in the eye” even though Eridians think that’s stupid since they lack both eyes and directional perception.
His students are probably all palm sized. Once he starts teaching he’s fighting cuteness aggression all day every day. They could all break his fingers with hands the size of a button. That knowledge does not stop his cuteness aggression. THIS IS GRACE’S REALITY.
“Grace! Why Eridian drawing on your words of encouragement, question?”
I’d never shown Rocky the cards and drawings that were sent with me before. “Eridian drawing?” I look at the symbol he’s pointing his texture gun at. “What do you mean?”
“Is simple way to draw Eridian. Like simple human next to it.” The simple human in question is a stick figure. And — rotationally symmetric, five equal limbs — yeah, I can see it. The Eridian stick figure equivalent. “Not possible for humans to know we meet,” Rocky says.
“They didn’t,” I say. “On Earth, that’s how we draw a star.”

"-Rocky is strangely adamant about the fact that he'll always be there, in the end. He might take a while, he might be slower, but he'll get to me at the end of the day. I assume that this is due to him loosing his crew, and having an intense alien mixed case of separation anxiety and PTSD. It will be noted, however, that while the author does have 'doctor' in his title it's not that kind of doctor, and he does not have any ability to diagnose."

Shark week.
I noticed things about the filming and epic shots and stuff, so I looked into it and this year they are debuting a lot of new tech. They're using more remote observation vehicles (ROVs) to watch sharks without humans being around, and the underwater cameras made a big leap for this year. So yeah, a lot of footage this year looks different because there's been a big tech upgrade this year specifically.
However.
Ive been trained to be skeptical and cautious over the last few years about ai bullshit, and while Discovery's Shark Week is mostly about science, it's still a show made by a major channel and I know it's possible... and while I haven't seen anything saying they have used ai for footage this year, I do see a lot of Tumblr accusations (mostly in the prehistoric episode that just dropped). Yeah, I dont trust Tumblr accusations at face value, but it is a concern. I was weary, clearly others are too... :/
I found one source that says they use ai for analysis and tracking of sharks, which is what ai should be used for. The analysis, the filtering of large amounts of data, the pattern recognition. It still needs to be supervised by a human, but when you get on the scale of data analysis for the entire ocean and tracking the creatures inside (or the millions of data points from each of the trillions of stars) then yeah, analytical ai is reasonable.
But did they use ai in the speculative animation? Has anyone seen anything saying they've used generative ai and not just normal janky animation? It feels smoother than normal, more mimicking of realistic shots than previous animation, but a big point is they have upgraded tech for this year. Could it mean they switched animation tactics or are we sure they've used ai?
I was first concerned in the Orca episode actually. In some of those shots of Orcas tearing into sharks, of the fights, they looked real but the fact the footage exists at all, from such visually satisfying angles, is suspicious :/ they SAY they are getting unique footage from new ROV tech but... but I'm just suspicious...
Jax would fumble her in every universe
i made a post like this before but I can't find it now. so. I'll just redo it.
What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?
It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.
My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂
I remember walking down the street and seeing a sign protesting George W. Bush’s war on Iraq, so I think that.
I don't know about a news story, but my first "political" memory was something about the torture memos
Im not sure if I actually remember anything from 911 hitting the news, or if it's a retroactive memory my brain created because it assumed what I was doing. If it's real, it'd just be the adults talking about it definitely not (no chance) of stuff on TV.
The first I know for certain? The last Spave Shuttle flight. My family didn't watch any news other than the weather and I didn't watch anything on my own except our vhs collection, but I /do/ very much remember going outside to try and see the trail of the last Shuttle flight (there was no way I'd see it from the Midwest) and deeply wishing I wasn't learning about this cool thing as it ends. I was so mad there wouldn't be any more.
