“Thank you” he replied, then nodded at her suggestion. “Yes. Let’s drink to a better night” he smiled at her, lifting his beer. “Possibly a more eventful one as well” he chuckled, tipping his beer to his lips. “I’ve been sitting here for almost an hour and haven’t found anything worth keeping my attention- yet” he explained.

She had chuckled at him. “To a better night! Whatever that means.” Emma had shrugged. “More eventful in what sense?” She had asked him curiously. She had been intrigued by this guy but she hadn’t been able to read him. “What are you looking for to keep your attention?”

Summer looked over her shoulder in the general direction of the taxi cabs that were lined in an orderly fashion, ready to escort everybody home. She could easily be good, get into one and end up in her bed. But the voice whispered in her head telling her to stay out, so she turned back to the girl and nodded. “I could do with another drink. But this place is closing. We could go to Liquid, if that’s still a thing here?”

Emma had not wanted to go home yet. She had just started drinking and it hadn’t been like she had a reason to go. Emma had looked at her, shrugging. “That’s what I wanted to hear! Let’s get more.” She had agreed. “It is and it’s not far. Let’s go and start our private party.”

It was obvious she’d been drunk and Tyler was usually not one to get into arguments but he’d make an exception in this case, if needed. “I hate to break it to you but you’re not even okay to walk, let alone drive. Please give me the keys. I’ll drive you home in my car and we can get yours tomorrow.” He offered, hoping she’d accept.

Emma had glared at him. She had hated to be told what to do and she hadn’t felt that drunk. “I’m fine. I can drive. I live close and only had a few drinks. “ She had told him. “Do you really think I’ll go in a car with a stranger? I’m not stupid.” Emma had spat at him. “No. I’m going in my car by myself. I don’t need you. You can just go home now.”

Summer was past the point of being drunk. In her foggy head, she told herself that it was to celebrate New Years- who wouldn’t be drunk? But deep inside, she knew it was to mask the loneliness she felt. All she wanted to do was go home and climb into bed, and she was making her way out of the venue when she collided with someone. She was unsteady on drunken feet, but managed to keep herself upright. “Oh! No, it’s fine, you’re fine,” she gave the girl a lazy smile. “He wouldn’t be the only one rushing to get home,” she chuckled. 

Emma had thought the event had been the best excuse to get drunk. But she hadn't wanted to really celebrate and had gotten here soon before it had to close. It hadn't called anyones attention because everyone had been drunk. She had bumped into the girl and had rubbed her arm. "But he could be more careful." Emma had said. "Are you going home already or do you want another drink?"

Ty looked over at her, offering her a slight smile as he couldn’t help but ask. “Are you okay?” She looked a little bit out of it and drunk to him and while he usually didn’t mind anyone else’s business, there was no way he’d just stand there and watch her drive in her current state. “Hey, hold on a second. Do you really think it’d be a good idea to drive now?” He asked her cautiously, raising one of his brows at her as he waited for her reaction.

Emma had rolled her eyes because she had been tired of that question. "I'm fine!" She had told him and she had really believed it was true. Emma had gotten her keys and had been walking to the parking area where she had left her car. "Why not? I'm okay. I can drive and it's not far." She had sighed.

Emma had only gotten to the event right before it had ended to get drunk fast. She hadn't been dressed for it and had just went to the bar where she had ordered one shot after the next. She had taken as many as she could until the security had told her the party had been over and it had been time to go home. She had tried to walk outside and had been pushed by someone. "I'm sorry. It looks like that guy had been in a rush to get out." She had said more to herself.

Brendon was a little bit off to the side of the part on his cell phone, trying to cover up the noise as best he could as he talked into the phone. “No- mom, I’m not-…. I’m not at a party” he clearly lied. “The noise in the background? Oh- that’s umm….” he looked around, noticing someone standing near him now. “That’s the tv, Verity’s watching a movie- but I have to go mom, I’ll call you later, but I gotta go.. I love you too, bye” he said before quickly hanging up and looking over at the person who had heard his conversation. “Sorry you had to hear my call, I didn’t think anyone was around” he said, embarrassed.

It had been late when Emma had gotten to the party. She hadn't felt like celebrating but she had been here to get really drunk really fast. They had offered free drinks and she had taken shots until she had felt like there hadn't been anymore space for more. She had walked outside and had tried to walk to the exit. "Don't worry. I didn't listen." Emma had told the guy.

It was already way past midnight as Ty arrived at his dorm. He took off his shoes when he felt his phone chime in his pocket and checked the messages. A friend asked him to pick them up at the event since they cabs seemed to have been very busy, which made sense. Without hesitation, he slipped his shoes back on and made his way back to get them. Once back at the location, he looked around, trying to find them. “What kind of a friend would I be if I didn’t come back?”

Emma had arrived to the party shortly before it had been over. She had just wanted to get drunk fast and hadn't dressed up or anything. She had still rarely left the house except for college or to get something quickly. Emma had looked at the guy and had shrugged. "I don't know." She had told him and had taken her keys without caring she had been too drunk to drive.

Leyla has taken a seat by the bar and looked around if she could see someone she had met before. She has been hoping to meet someone familiar or make new friends. It has been a good opportunity for her to socialize again and she didn’t need to worry about exams. Leyla has walked to the bar and asked the person seated there. “What drink is it?” She has asked and looked at the drink they had. “Is it good?” 

Emma had not wanted to go to the event. She hadn't dressed for it either and had just sneaked out at home to get drinks. They had been free and she had needed something. Emma had just wanted to get drunk fast and go back home. She had gotten to the bar and had ordered a lot of shots. "Tequila." Emma had answered. "It's strong. That's all I care about." She had told her.

He gave her a smile, “No need to thank me” he said with a small shake of his head, adjusting himself to look at her again as she asked his name. “Destin” he introduced. “Emma, It’s a pleasure to meet you” he smiled slowly, “I do hope your night gets better.” he said. “Hopefully this is the start of it getting better.”

The guy had seemed very nice and also humble and Emma had tried to look convincing when she had smiled back at him. "Destin. Nice name." She had noticed. " It's nice to meet you too." She had told him and had held out her hand. "I hope so but it's looking good right now." She had chuckled and had lifted her glass. "Should we drink to a better night?"

"I haven't asked you to." She had whispered. Emma had known he had been through worse and it had been the reason she hadn't mentioned her own problems. She had just not been sure what to say to him. Emma had nodded and her tears had started to run down again when he had taken the blanket. "okay." she had said because he had made it clear he hadn't wanted to be close to her or spend time with her. Emma had understood that and hadn't wanted to be selfish. She had just accepted it. Emma had brushed her tears away again when he had asked her to move on. "I'll try." She had sobbed and had tried to not look at him.

Adam just turned around to leave the place when he stopped in his tracks at the sound of the familiar voice. It had been a while since he saw Emma and he felt a little guitly for not reaching out to her, considering everything she’d been through lately. But he didn’t want to impose and figured she already had enough on her plate as it was. “Emma! Hey, it’s good to see you. Are you okay? I mean all things considered?” He tried to sound as casual as possible but truth be told, Adam had no idea what to say. “I guess it’s going to be pizza for me today. Are you in? “

Emma hadn't wanted to see anyone in the last weeks. She had just been locked in Ethans room and had only left for college sometimes when their dad had made her. She hadn't expected anyone to reach out to her and the only person who had was Oliver. Emma had been glad for it because she hadn't wanted anyone to see her like this. She had nodded at him but she hadn't been okay. "I am. How have you been?" Emma had asked to distract from herself. "Sounds good. Can we get it for take out?"

 Enzo smirked back at her, “That is good to know.” He responded, returning the wink as he motioned towards the door to exit. The walk back to his place was not long from where they had originally been. He unlocked the door to his flat once they arrived, allowing for her to enter first. “Would you like anything to drink?” He offered, letting his eyes wander over her ever so slightly, “Or would you like to get right down to business?” He had asked taking a slight step closer to her. 

She had been fascinated by him for some weird reason. It had seemed like he had done this many times. Emma hadn't and she had been glad he had led the way. She had followed him to his apartment and had looked at him, smiling. "A drink sounds nice." Emma had agreed and had stepped inside. "Nice apartment." She had told him. "I wish I had my own". Emma had admitted when he had stepped closer. "Are you always this eager?" She had grinned and had pulled him closer.

 Oliver chuckled in response to her words, “Oh I am trying really hard right now.” He had joked back with her, leaning over to nudge her side ever so slightly. Oliver was a little taken aback by what happened next, when her lips locked with his and for some strange reason he didn’t pull away. Not immediately, anyway. Instead he found himself kissing her back as he cupped her face gently with his hand to keep her closer to him. 

She had liked having him close but she hasn't been able to feel anything. It had been as if Emma had been numb for a long while. She had forced a small smile when he had nudged her. "Keep trying. You're doing good." Emma had said and had let her hand stroke his face. When her lips had locked with his, Emma had started to deepen the kiss and had held him close. Her arms had been wrapped around his neck and she had wanted more. She had pulled on his shirt to take it off but she hadn't broken the kiss yet.

Adam didn’t mind the hype about Christmas, even though he didn’t celebrate the holidays himself. He actually went to the local market every year just to see what’s new and catch up with people. However, checking in a couple of times was more than enough for him and since he’d already been at the market the day it opened, he figured, he could do with some normal food again. He was just about to get some take out at his favorite Chinese restaurant, when he noticed the closed sign. Sighing to himself, he turned around only to meet a pair of eyes. “Looks like I’m not the only one who’s going to need a plan b. “ He chuckled at the other person.

Emma had still not been going out a lot. She had even skipped many classes as of late. Today she had made an exception to get chinese food for her dad because he had asked her to. Emma had gotten to the restaurant and had seen Adam at the door. “Shit! What now?” She had asked him when they had found out it had been closed.

He chuckled a bit at her question, “Uh,” his lips turned down, shaking his head a bit “Neither honestly.” he admitted, taking another pull of his beer. “I dunno, you seem like you could use some good news is all. Figured a drink or two would start your night off right” he gave her a small smile. He waved the bartender over, “Whatever she’s getting, I’ll pay for” he instructed before turning himself back to the television and bringing the bottle back to his lips.

She had just looked at him and had been surprised about his response. “Okay.” Emma had shrugged. “That’s a good idea. It sounds like the best way to start.” She had agreed with him even if she had thought there hadn’t been any good enough news to make her feel better. Emma had ordered a Gin and had smiled at the nice guy. “Thank you! That’s really nice of you!” She had told him. “I should probably ask for your name first before I accept a drink from you.” She had laughed. “I’m Emma.”

Oliver chuckled a little again when she said he was sweet. He didn’t find anything about himself sweet as he always thought there were room for improvements, “I try.” He therefore simply responded instead, not thinking this was the right time to be objecting to such a thing. He had smiled when her lips has touched his cheek, only to let his eyes flicker ever so slightly between her eyes and lips when he noticed her coming closer to his face, not sure what she was doing or wanted from him. 

She had meant it and had smiled at him a little. “You don’t have to try hard.” Emma had teased him and had noticed his eyes had flickered to her lips. It had been the sign she had needed to make a move. Emma had kissed his cheek again and had closed her eyes before she had pressed her lips on his. She had moved her hand to his neck and had pulled him closer. It had been something she had wanted to do for some time and she had just wanted to forget about the pain she had been feeling.
