PLEASE WATCH IT AND TELL ME IF IT’S NOT ALL TOO FAMILIAR!
I'm in some deep s#!% !
submitted by me :D myhut on /r/exmormon
I was born Mormon, saw my father go through callings in the church like mission president and area 70. Served a full time mission in 2009/11 came back an even more TBM and then it all started. Hopefully i "woke up from the matrix" and saw the [Mormon] church for what it really was/is and started my journey out of the church that is completing 5 years in June!
The thing is that is has been harder than I expected to make the transition, starting with actually coming out clean to everyone about it!
I'm about to get married to an lds women that I love (she is not in the same journey as me) but she is not a full TBM and is becoming more opened about some subjects that will give me some space to introduce her to the things i know.
I'm starting to freak out a little thinking about how things are going to be. I'm willing to bet in this marriage because above all i love the woman I'm getting married to.
And even worse telling my parents about it will almost mean I'm dead to them. Family relationship will never be the same.
Any advices/experiences are more than welcome!!!
What do you do when a TBM brings up past spiritual experiences you've had?
submitted by everysinglebear on /r/exmormon
My mom has brought up the times in my past where I "felt the spirit" and bore my testimony about it. Specifically, once when I was in fifth or sixth grade I couldn't find my flute and was going to be late for school, but I decided to say a prayer, and I found it in the next place I looked. I described it to my mom at the time as "a puppy on a leash pulling me towards where my flute was."
I know at the time I was incredibly stressed and unable to think clearly, and in the quiet moment of saying the prayer and clearing my mind afterward, I was calm enough to find it.
But how do you guys respond when people bring up experiences like that? Past things that happened that made you proclaim they were miracles?
Edit: I've been mentally checked out for two and a half years, my shelf broke a year ago, and I had my name removed in November 2015.
This is one crazy subject I could spend hours talking about.
Just reflect on the idea that in the Mormon church every time the "spiritual experience" works is a true and life changing experience, a testimony, credited only to the HG.
But EVERY TIME a "spiritual experience" fails it's YOUR FAULT!
Doesn't seem very fair coming from a loving, just and merciful [mormon] God!
In the end what the [mormon] church does is exactly what others do... Appeal to emotional episodes as if they were supernatural and holy.
In the beginning of my path out of the church that was really harsh for me at first but with time you can undeniably see that this is done OVER and OVER again throughout the years! And that's how not only the Mormon church but all the churches I know do things to get more followers [$].
Baptism of children
submitted by LadySherlock on /r/exmormon
Now that I'm almost completely out of the church, things that didn't bother me before have started irritating me. Mostly, the ritual baptism of young children. My nephew turns 8 next year. He has a significant learning disability, and I just don't think he'll understand what is happening to him, but my sister will still insist on him being baptized because she's hardcore TBM and that's just what they do to kids. I'm having a hard time being ok with this. Can any of you offer either some advise or impart some wisdom on how to eventually address this issue with her. She'll want be to be there and I just don't know if I can.
Ps I'm about to go back to work, so I'll respond to comments in a few hours.
I feel your concern but have you ever stop to think about ALL the things the church does to children. I know it will sound really, really bad when I say it but it's because it is in fact really, really bad: brain wash. Think about singing OVER and OVER again "I hope they call me on a mission" or how they already share their "testimony" while a teacher or a parents whisper in their ears "I know that the church is true and that Joseph was a prophet". There is soooo much more and you probably know it but now with all of this in mind I think I can say with some property that (1) it's not really an issue with you sister and (2) there will be so much to worry besides baptism. I understand this is a special case where your nephew doesn't really have full understanding of what's going on and I don't really feel like the most appropriate person to give advise specifically about this subject but I can tell you that if your sister is a TBM I fear that there's almost nothing you can say that would really make a difference (assuming of course she is similar to others TBM). If you choose to speak up anyways choose your words wisely and be cautious as anything you say could mean your relationship with your sister won't be the same anymore (if is not compromised already). Hope it helps a little!
Are We A Lost Generation?
submitted by Slamb73 on /r/exmormon
I have a feeling that the church considers my generation and older lost generations.
Or maybe its just the correlated to internet generation as a lost generation. They realize that we do have an issue with the difference between the history and how they chose to taught it to us. Based on hearing the Big 15 talk about it now and Ballards CES Instructor talk I feel like they acknowledge they screwed up with me and are now focused on inoculating the younger generations.
Am I off base?
I don't mean to be the "opposition" but aren't the things they are doing just more proof that the Mormon church is not what it claims? Because they hid all of it before now they have to whitewash and we all get it... But the ultimate problem is that that were things to hide in the first place... And not just anything, things that entirely disproves the church is as true as they say! Again not trying to be the bad guy here but in the end does it really matter that they [the church] think we are a "lost" generation? Isn't that what they do to try to keep members from looking further into things? I could be wrong... But as a current member struggling to transition out is pretty clear to me.

LETTER TO A CES DIRECTOR
In case you haven’t heard yet there is this awesome guy called Jeremy Runnells ( [email protected] ) that compiled almost all the major problems with the Mormon religion in one piece of PDF document called “Letter to a CES Director).
It is simply incredible and in future posts we will be discussing many of the points shown in it. Watch the trailer above and make sure to visit Jeremy’s website

THE HUUUT !
Hello everyone! You can call me Vheissu and this is My Hut!!! I will write a post later on about my self and my story because now i just want to tell you what goes on inside MyHut. I was born a Mormon and the Mormon church was all i really knew (at least in terms of religions and that esoteric area) until about 5 years ago and since then sooooo much has happened and changed. I found a lot of information about the Mormon church most members don't even dream about, aaand when some of them learn they either pretend they don't for their testimony's sake oooor they change their life's! That's what i want to do but it's not that easy and that's where MyHut comes in!!!!
