vox and val being each other's weaknesses is just so dear to me....

we've already seen that vox tries to hide the fact that he does love val a lot, saying they're just 'partners in business' but then he cannot keep his eyes from the moth when he turns around. he cares a lot about him, gets concerned about his wellbeing and obviously likes him, even if he tries to convince him otherwise because of what he has been taught since he was a child and because loving someone in a deeper way feels like a weakness.

but it seems to me that very few people realise that vox is also val's weakness. yes, we all know how val looks at vox (predatory gaze lol) but he's also very self conscious of his actual feelings towards vox. like, yes, he's used to sleeping with men but one thing is meaningless sex while other completely different is actually fall in love with one, which is what vox has done to him. the time he spends drawing vox and how he doesn't want him to see it, how he looks at him when he's not thinking about fucking him senseless, that soft gaze they shared sometimes and HOW THEY BLUSH WHEN THEY'RE TOGETHER. that's his weakness, knowing that vox can have him in so many different ways that's not only sexual ones.

i feel that they both struggle a lot with their romantic feelings, it's not easy to fall in love with someone and less when you have internalised homophobia and while being in hell. that's why I love so much how obvious it's (and how oblivious both of them are) that they do care about eachother a lot and their greatest weakness is not losing their influence and power, but losing eachother's trust and themselves.
