Idk why but playing the "Is This Seat Taken" demo really inspired me to add a lot more small animations and polish to TPIK where I can. That whole game is just really snappy and tactile and feels good to play........... Even if its a completely different genre I aspire to that clicky feel (○｀ 3′○)

I did it, I made a bunch of little journal entries and am now 90% of the way through decorating the pages.

Only to flip back through them all at once and feel like I have So Little Pages ._.

Do you all like character profiles that you can browse/read through in story heavy games? Should I make little character pages or profiles that you can learn random trivia or background info explicitly from-- like a journal almost? o-o 👉👈

New UPDATE for TPIK's Demo available!

Bug fixes, UI changes, and minor features added-- Available both on ITCH.IO and Steam

Hey everyone, I know it's been a long-ish time since my initial upload. I added some additional features and bug fixes since and finally got around to polishing them. These include:

A button to hide the UI so you can see the key art in its entirety

Better back and skip functionality

A new textbox background

New font for buttons and other UI

Minor bug fixes that, due to the long timespan, I cannot recall :(

If you have any issues due to or despite the update, please please please let me know and I will add them to my "To-Be-Fixed" list. I am still working on getting this project to its full release.

SPEAKING OF full release:

Multiple endings have been chosen and scripted (3 total so far)

All but one scene (that I am aware of/have planned) still requires scripting

Much of the music has been drafted-- though it will still need to be refined and reviewed

Demo's UI update was part of polishing for the full release

I have had my hands full with many other projects as well as burnout since the release of this demo, if I'm quite honest, so it has been slow going. However I am looking forward to turning my attention back to TPIK more frequently and invite you to experience all that there is currently, until I can show you more. The demo contains over 80+ illustrations of hand drawn key art, point & click environments, and an original soundtrack. Solo developed over 5 months, this is the first game I have ever released.

DEV-LOG 2 (3/14/2025)

It didn't end up finished in October 2024 like I was jamming to shoot for but the demo is nearly complete now!

When I realized I wouldn't be able to finish it in the month timespan and nearly burnt out I took a step back and took a break over the holidays. Worked on it here and there, making the game functional across different screen resolutions and taking notes from play-testers on the story and features.

Currently there are only ~24 illustrations left to be painted, all of which are still sketched out. The only big thing that needs to still be implemented is the gore-censorship-- which hasn't been started since I haven't drawn any of the CG's that contain gore yet. In the meantime I've been retouching a lot of the original paintings just cleaning some stuff up since I'm no longer rushing towards a closely impending deadline. Also by doing so many paintings my art skills have improved marginally so I'm trying to minimize the mistakes I made before.

The main roadblock I've been running into has been getting word about the game out and generating wishlists. Obviously I'm not an established online presence. But because the game contains adult content I haven't been able to talk about it anywhere I've found yet and get the word out just by telling people it exists. Close friends have helped tremendously by spreading the news, but I'm realizing I might not be able to get TPIK discovered with just legwork unfortunately. So with that I'm trying to see what my best options are for running some small ads once the demo is actually uploaded and hope that it drives some interest.

A lot of the future of the game depends on if I can rally support or not. I'd really like to look into translating it into more than one language, expanding the overall story a bit more, and maybe (maybe) look into voice acting if it does really really well. Almost everything has been laid out and planned so there's easy steps for me to work through to actually Make. The. Game. But depending on my motivation and if anyone cares in general I might have to make cuts so I can move on to another project if this flops.

I don't want to be a bummer about it though. I really do see a bright future for TPIK and want to make the blueprints for what I've laid out a reality. I think there's a really fun spot for this visual novel in people's hearts-- I just need to find a way to get there.

DEV-LOG 1 (Posted to TPIK Discord 10/23/2024)

First dev-log update for TPIK!! I've been working on putting this demo together and planning it since late September so this will be my first public project and FASTEST turnaround project I've worked on. I am hoping to get the demo done by the 31st of October but we will see-- it really shouldn't take me much longer than that if I stick to my schedule.

Currently there's over 65+ illustrations, all of which are currently sketched out at the least with 5 interactable environments to explore throughout the demo. All of the backgrounds are watercolor too which I think is neat

There's also 18 songs on the soundtrack so far, all made from scratch but hopefully appropriate for the sections they play in… I've only had the game playtested so far by 2 people, waiting on the 3rd so that I can discuss the pacing/content/and sound design (if you're interested in seeing anything early just let me know ^_^) The trailer is also almost done, just waiting on finishing a few more pieces of key art to add in before it gets released, which is cool imo B)

Other than illustrating though there isn't much left that needs to be done. I just need to implement the gore censorship toggle (which might get delayed depending on how long everything takes me) and finish the save/load system that I'm about halfway done with and then it will just be a matter of plugging in all the art to their appropriate placeholder spots. Yayayayayay!

Hardest thing about this project is going to be marketing and getting the word out for sure, so if you know anyone who likes classic horror movies or visual novels consider sharing this game with them so they can enjoy it! I'm trying my best to spread the word as more content gets done but can use any help I can get!!
