Whumpril2026 Day 1: Beg

"No no no no."

"Shit, no-PLEASE"

Robert was begging. Begging. As he approached the limp form sprawled inelegantly on the warehouse floor. Metal creaked and groaned around him as shelving units settled. The heat previously applied to them causing their foundations to be unsteady.

Robert has just finished finally freeing himself from the chair he was once bound to. Shaking hands slipping from the rope, not bothering to "relocate" his thumb. His pleas continued to slip unconsciously from his lips.

He had been begging for the past hour

Begging as the unassuming villain of the week revealed an unconscious Flambae to a bound Robert.

Begging as said villain held a gun to his love's limp head.

Begging as Flambae woke up too early, and the villain decided to change tactics- turning the gun on Robert in hopes of subduing Flambae.

Begging as Flambae-Chad, went supernova with rage as he registered the threat aimed at Robert- surpassing his temperature limit that he had always refused to acknowledge

He begged Chad not to burn himself out, not to jump in front of the bullet.

Chad was unnervingly still. Robert had never seen him this still.

He continued to beg.

His pleas went unanswered.

Robert gets kidnapped along with some civvies. Raises a hand like “hey I work at SDN and Im very valuable to them you should let me talk to the heroes Im sure I can get you an escape as long as you don’t harm anybody.”

Sounds good, he looks unassuming enough and if he had powers he would have used them by now.

Robert gets on the mic, hears any Z Team member, and cues up the water works as he ‘negotiates’ on the line. “Just— snf— just do as they say, we— we can’t let them—sob— hurt anyone.” Hangs up and just has a big shit eating grin.

Everyone around him is like “wtf” until Z Team busts through and immediately takes down the kidnappers with murderous efficiency and like “ARE YOU OKAY??”
