ZENITSU HEADCANONS █ post-canon.
after the battle from the infinity fortress, zenitsu sustained many severe injuries, one of them being skin cracks on his cheeks. despite being tended too rather quickly, they left scars in the shape of lightning streaks. the rest of wounds he managed to make a full recovery from. the scars, however, serve as a reminder of his failures and negligence.
with permission, he buried his grandfather’s ashes behind tanjirou’s house. it takes a lot of time for him to talk about what happened in detail. but he does eventually open up to tanjirou, nezuko and inosuke about his old life, from grueling start to finish.
without a proper body to bury, zenitsu searched the battle grounds weeks later and found the magatama bead from kaigaku’s old necklace and held onto it. truthfully, he’s still on the fence whether he should bury it beside gramps or not. he still harbors anger towards kaigaku’s unforgivable actions, his treason above all else, but doesn’t have the heart to just toss aside, either. he’s the only one left to remember him.
( in the future, along with writing his autobiography - along with the fabled tale of the demon slayers - zenitsu ends up storing the old necklace in his box of belongings, leaving the fate of the necklace in the hands of his future descendants. )
for the rest of his lifetime, zenitsu spends it living with tanjirou and the others. he ended up inheriting his grandfather’s property, to which he eventually turns into a dojo to teach young children and people alike the breath of thunder style. to fit with the changing times, he adjusts it for self-defense only, as the demons eventually become extinct in their world. a thing of urban legend.
( open to interpretation, never forced onto other nezuko’s canons ) him and nezuko develop a friendship beforehand, later entering a romantic relationship. they date for a few years, then, after begging relentlessly for the elder brother’s approval, the two eventually get married in their early twenties. together, they have many children, form a happy family, and spend the rest of their days together happily.
