The End. 10:30am - Wake up in the lower east side and load up the van. 11am - Head over to the Delancey area and park. Walked to get some delicious bagels. 11:30am - Found an indoor meat market and got a tasty coffee and looked around. 12pm - Bought one pickle from Pickle Guys. 12:15pm - Walked down to the water under the Williamsburg bridge. 1pm - Met up with Drew after he got off work. 1:30pm - Drove to Philly 4:30pm - Got to town and went straight to Barcade and played arcade games for a while. 7pm - Headed to the house we were playing and and loaded in. 8pm - Walked a handful of blocks and found a Jimmy Johns for a lightning fast mediocre sandwich. 8:30pm - Back to the house and watched the first two bands. 10pm - Performed our last show of the tour. 11pm - Hit the road to DC to stay the night. 3am - Arrived and fell asleep.
NYC day off. 12:30pm - Woke up in NJ. 1pm - Went to the Milburn Diner for breakfast. 2pm - Starbucks 3pm - Headed back into the lower east side. 4pm - Walked about 30 blocks uptown to Eataly (a delicious indoor Italian market). We accidently found an Italian Alps inspired pop up restaurant on the roof because the 1st floor bathroom was shut down. 6pm - Walked another 10 blocks to the Empire State Building and had a beer in their basement brew pub. 7pm - Walked back a few blocks to The Museum of Sex. Our friend Trey is a graphic designer and got us on the list for an opening party for their newest art exhibit, 70’s underground discotheques. There was an open bar and doughnut holes to eat. 9pm - Too hungry, so we left. Drew took us to a falafal place and we all got delicious platters. 9:30pm - $1 slice of pizza because. 10pm - Quick stop at Burp Castle (a bar with no music and you have to be quiet. You will be shushed if you are over a whisper). 11pm - Got back to the apt and we passed out watching Black Mirror. Yep, 11pm we went to sleep on our night off in NYC.
10:30am - Woke up in the lower east side. 11am - Walked to Sonny and Anne's for bagels and coffee. 11:30am - Took the F train to the bottom of Central Park. Walked about half the distance up. 12:30pm - Found the MET and walked around. Saw some amazing Pollack, Picasso, Monet, etc. It's a huge museum. 2pm - Walked to Wok 88 and had delicious Chinese for lunch. 3pm - Took a train back down to Times Square. Went to the fanciest Starbucks and got coffee to re-energize. 3:30pm - Walked to Rockefeller Plaza and the Nintendo Store. 4pm - Trained back to the apt for a quick rest. 5pm - Drove over to the venue. Bummed around for pizza, arcade games, and frozen margaritas. 7pm - Loaded into the basement of Cake Shop. 8:30pm - Watched Pine play their first show ever (Our lovely friend Trey Tyler's band). 10pm - Played our set to one of the most energetic and attentive NY audiences to date. Also live streamed it to our facebook. 11pm - Loaded out. 11:10pm - Drew tells me that Jones is freaking out inside because Maeby from Arrested Development is inside the bar... She arrived right after the show... 11:30pm - Finished packing and headed inside to find her, Kyle Mooney from SNL, Nick Kroll, and Michael Showalter all hanging out. Once again... right after our show... We try playing it cool, but we ask for a few quick pics. 12am - $1 slices. 12:15am - Drove to Lucy's (an old bar that is only staffed by Lucy. She has to be in her mid 70's and occasionally you'll arrive to just a note on the door of the bar saying she's gone to Poland). We played a lot of pool. 3:30am - Drove back to NJ and passed out.
NYC day two. 1pm - Woke up and made another cream cheese English muffin. 2pm - Starbucks. Gas Station (you're not allowed to pump your own gas in NJ. There's an attendant for that. Fun fact) 3:30pm - Found parking directly in front of our venue. 3:40pm - Our 1st $1 slices of pizza this tour. 3:45pm - Walked through a tiny art gallery that was mainly a few mannequins. 4pm - Saw Piano's had $4 frozen margaritas for happy hour. Jones treated us. 4:30pm - Walked around the block to Mr. Purple (a rooftop bar in Hotel Indigo). Snapped a few pictures and relaxed. 5:30pm - Got back to the venue and loaded in. 6pm - Actually had 45 min to set up and sound check. 7pm - Played what was most likely the best set of the tour. 8pm - Loaded up and chatted with those that attended. 9pm - Jones and I got more $1 pizza then went and met Drew and his cousins for a drink down the street. 10pm - Walked a little ways and got some late night perogies. 11pm - Walked back to the van and headed to the apt we're staying at. 12am - Hungout on the roof. Accidently saw a wiener through an open window. 1am - Sleep.
It's was a long day and I'm still half asleep this morning. So this one will be backwards. 3:30am - Finally fall asleep hard to a beautiful thunderstorm. 2:45am - Get back to Dark Sheryl's house to go to sleep. 2:30am - Pick up keys in NJ for the apt we'll be staying at in Manhattan the next few nights. 1:30am - Leave Brooklyn for NJ. 1am - Stopped by a 24hr deli and met this cat. He crawled into the chips so I bent down to take a picture. He immediately crawled into my lap and would not let me get up. So I snapped a ton of selfies and he finally crawled behind some Pringles. I bought Bacon Mac and Cheese chips and Pepperocini chips. They were great. 12:45 - Walked back to the van. Through an oddly quiet Brooklyn. 12am - Went to some random bar and split a pitcher of beer and discussed cover band ideas. 11:50am - Found a beautiful art deco type bar that shows some great movies on a projector. They had just closed... 11pm - Walked from the venue to an oddly clean bar for drinks with Sera from Toxic Moxie. I ordered a Bud Set (Budweiser and a whiskey shot), she misheard and brought me a Presidente Set (Jalapeno tequila and a Presedente beer). I was scared. But it turned out to be delicious. Jones bought us all fries. We think they just walked to Mc Donald's and brought them to us. 10pm - Loaded out of Gold Sounds asap. 9:30pm - Played a shorter set since bands got 30 min slots. A nice band called Passengers watched our set. The other two stood in the other room. We did not watch theirs. Why take a support slot with a touring act if you don't provide support? 8pm - Show starts. 6:30pm - Load in and set up a few things to get ready in the tiny closet sized greenroom. 6pm - Walk down the block to LA Burrito. $7 for a human baby sized spinach and veggie burrito. 5:30pm - Arrive at the venue to scope it out. 4pm - Went to Barcade in Brooklyn and played arcade games and drank delicious beers to kill some time. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out is the best arcade cab. 3pm - Leave NJ to make the hour long drive in. 2:30pm - Walk into town and pretend to be Ben to get a coffee discount. 1pm - Jones and I took a hike in the park across the street from where we're staying. We need to exercise more. 12:30pm - Made an English muffin with cream cheese. One wasn't enough, but I was saving myself for $1 pizza slices which you see we didn't get. 12pm - Wake up and take a very long much needed shower.
10:30am - Walmart wake up! 11am - I cooked egg and cheese English muffins in the parking lot for everyone. $6 for enough food to fill up 4 hungry men. 11:25am - Drew and I have an egg throwing contest into a ravine with the remaining two eggs we're too full to eat. Drew wins. 11:30am - Fill up with expensive gas (Thanks Pennsylvania...) and head to Allentown. 3pm - Arrive to The Alternative Gallery, one of our favorite places to play anywhere. Load in. 4pm - Record a video of us performing a cover song in the basement of the warehouse. 6pm - Perform a matinee show. 7pm - Hangout on the roof with all our favorite Allentown-ians. 7:30pm - Hit the road to Drew's family in NJ. 8pm - Standstill traffic for 45 min... 10pm - Arrive to Carole's house to a feast of mac and cheese, ravioli, broccoli, carrots, corn, salads, beer, wine, some weird stanky digestif drink, salads, ice cream and cake. 11:30pm - Drive over to Dark Sheryl's for our own beds to sleep in.
11am - Wake up in a Walmart lot 11:30am - Jones gets Subway. I got spaghetti chili from Skyline Chili. 12pm - Hit the road towards Pittsburgh. 5pm - Arrive in the city and attempt to ride the little old tram thing up the hill to over look the city. Too long of a line, so we drove up and took some photos. 6pm - Attempted to go to Primanti Bros for a sandwich. Too long of a line, so we went to Beer Hive and got sandwiches and beers. 7pm - Went to the casino. No free drinks. Jones won $80. 9pm - Decided against playing our Pittsburgh show due to multiple reasons. 12am - Arrived at a Walmart 2 hours closer to Allentown, PA. 1am - Finally fell asleep.
