We’re only a week away from our “Hell, Yes!” Party for Members! Join as a Member today to celebrate and see our current exhibitions before they close. This year’s soiree is inspired by Ugo Rondinone’s iconic “Hell, Yes!” sign, which adorned our façade when we opened our new building in 2007. Photo: Wade Zimmerman
I worked with Studio Ghibli and Mondo to create new, official posters for two of my favourite films, Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle.
These Japanese editions will be available exclusively at comic con. English versions will be available online at a later date.
Once again, a big thank you to the folks at Ghibli and Mondo for giving me the chance to do this.

Film Crush: Faye Wong in Chungking Express
/Jane: The great thing about watching a film a day, is that I can always look forward to having that one unique moment that every good movie brings. Sometimes it’s a wow, sometimes a laugh or smile, but there’s always some genuine moment that comes across and I thought I’d start sharing more of them on here instead of just tweeting about them: I finally upgraded my old copy of Wong Kar Wai’s Chungking Express to the Criterion Collection’s version, and got to relive this great film all over again. I feel that WKW might be the best artists EVER at effectively capturing and expressing emotion. It’s not just his style or stories that provoke feeling, it’s that his characters always embody a unique emotion to themselves. Most of the time in WKW’s films that emotion is a sense of melancholy regret, but his great use of pop star Faye Wong is pure infatuation. The character of Faye in Chungking Express as the voyeur girlfriend to Officer 663, (Tony Leung) is warm and curious, a little sappy but not cliche at all. When I said that she embodies infatuation I don’t just mean that she is lovesick with the officer but that she only displays those characteristics: curiosity, fear, embarrassment, longing, naivety, and compassion. I think most will remember Wong as the sad girl from 2046, but in my mind she’s never been better than in this film and I would put Chungking Express itself as WKW’s second best film (In The Mood for Love being an absolute masterpiece) and one of the greatest films of the 90?s.

Happy New Year (does it feel like 2011?)
A few albums I'm looking forward to this winter. A brand new lilting, silky-smooth ’70s disco-funk-tinged jam from Toro y Moi, taken from his forthcoming Underneath the Pine LP, out February 22, 2011, on Carpark. James Blake’s self-titled debut full-length is out February 7 on A&M / Atlas. /Check out the list on Pitchfork.

Mouse Path (virtual movement.)
I've been using this 242kb app for a while now. It's called MousePath. Clear and simple, eh? The "lines" show the movement of your mouse and the "circles" should where you mouse has stopped. That big black circle was when I left work last night and came back this morning. Oops. Cool effect though. You can download it here.
