OKAY now that iāve finally finished row i can unblock all my tags, catch up on posts, and talk about some Thoughts i haveĀ
spoilers and a lot of haphazard thoughts under the cut :DĀ

as much as it hurts, iāve gotta give it a 7/10. iām sorry. Ā the first half was just SO boring. i love shallan and adolin with all my might, but their whole arc was so boring i just literally did not care about it all for the whole book. Ā shallanās momentary turn into Formless was cool, and i did not see her first cryptic coming, but it was so short-lived! like damn girl iām glad youāre getting healing and shit but i was BORED.Ā
the second half of the book started to pick up. WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG. anyways. Ā the last 1/3rd of the book was so good, i didnāt want to put it down.Ā
VENLI. Ā MY BABY. I AM SO SORRY I EVER DIDNāT CARE ABOUT YOU. Ā this is another adolin situation where i went for a time literally not caring whether they lived or died by now iād die for them. Ā WHAT A GOOD CHARACTER. Ā WOW. Ā i love her. Ā i love her love her love her. Ā iām still not sold on the idea of her and kal being a thing (and low-key still wanna see leshwi and kal be an itemĀ š) but i absolutely love her. Ā sheās so interesting. FUCK i love her.Ā
did not see navani bonding the sibling coming. iām glad rlain got his bond but iām a little salty it wasnāt him, iām ngl. Ā i just want rlain to get his Moment in the Sun and it feels like brando kind of skipped over him a bit--Ā āhereās your spren weāre just going to pull out of the air lol byeā when i think him bonding the sibling would be so cool. but iām glad navani got her sibling and that littleĀ āyouāre not worthyāĀ āfuck u yes i amā bit was a really nice scene.Ā

taravangian taking odium was accidentally spoiled for me on pinterest rip so i wasnāt surprised but also ???? what an interesting touch. Ā AND WHAT WAS EVEN MORE INTERESTING WAS THAT ENDING CHAPTER. Ā WIT. Ā HOLY SHIT. HEāS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SMARTEST PERSON AND HEāS GETTING PLAYED LIKE A PUPPET. Ā LITERAL CHILLS READING THAT SCENE. (also him and jasnah sleeping together? yikes. anyways)
the invention of the anti-stormlight: YIKES. Ā LIKE. Ā Y I K E S. iāve been afraid kalās going to die but it was kind of an irrational fear but now i know it can happen and i am FRIGHTENED.Ā
i wept at work during the dog and the dragon and i wept during the tien scene (and yes thereās a strange part of me that is waiting for tien to come back from the dead donāt come for me). iām glad heās feeling better i love him and i never stopped loving him this whole book--him andĀ lirinās dynamic was so interesting but honestly lirin can kiss my ass idc KISS MY A S SĀ
some weird things:Ā
one: it felt like....brandonās been....setting things up.......and never following through? which is so unlike for brandon and honestly this will probably come back to bite me in the ass in two books but.....that thing with tarah at the end of oathbringer? nothing. it felt like the pursuer was going to be a thing for a while? dead. a few other things that have suddenly escaped my mind? never really played out. so that was weird and a little disappointing.Ā
second: it felt like brandon did this weird thing where he would be likeĀ āoh no this thing is happening!ā and then.....skip to after it happened? Ā like when taravangian betrayed dalinar? and it happened a few other times. it was like brandon was so eager to get to other parts of the book that he just skipped over parts. but like, they were important parts! so it felt like i was missing parts of the book, but i wasnāt? idk whackĀ
third: that end was a little messy :( it was working for a bit, but then there was just so much skipping around it felt like all my threads got tangledĀ
which leads me to something i also had a problem with in oathbringer: brandonās been doing this weird thing where heāll have a character with a problem. Ā and where most people would have the character build to a climax, have one big epiphany, and then have the problem solved, instead he has them almost have a bunch of little epiphanies that just feel like they drag on until they solve the problem. and i get that life isnāt always One Epiphany, but it just feels like it goes on for so long and like they keep hashing out the problem when theyāve already fixed it? idk it just feels like it goes on WAY too long.Ā
last but not least: it felt like....characters werenāt entirely in character? adolin and shallan felt way off. Ā so did dalinar; he felt really unconcerned with the fact HIS WIFE WAS PRISONER IN OVERTAKEN URITHIRU. Ā idk they just didnāt feel like themselves; the narration was kind of off and especially adolin and shallan felt kind of juvenile.Ā
tldr; 7/10. Lot of good, but a little messy. Ā takes way too long to get really interesting. i still love my babies, and iām still excited for the next one. still really damn worried. i love this world and i love this series and i know they canāt all be word of radiance, this just wasnāt my favorite of the books. BUT I GOT MY WORDS AND EXPLOSION OF LIGHT BAYBEEEEEEE
brb just thinking about how every marvel movie cutscene i hold my breath because i think about how maybe thereās the slightest chance pietro will come back and then he never does and itās always so disappointing even though i know it doesnāt make sense
and then i had a series where wanda literally made a haven for all the dead people she lost and i REALLY THOUGHT atj was going to come back and then it was evan peters and i was like alright alright cool cool cool maybe the real pietro will make an appearance and i held my damn breath and he never did
AND THEN WE HAD A FLASHBACK TO STRYKER AND THE EXPERIMENTS and i REALLY THOUGHT weād at least get something there, i mean come on, and then we never did
and basically i held on for however many episodes with the falsest of hopes and never got it and DAMMIT I JUST WANT TO SEE AARON TAYLOR JOHNSON AS QUICKSILVER AGAIN
one of my favorite things (among many many others) in warbreaker was siriās growing enjoyment throughout the book of wearing bright colors and pretty clothes; i donāt know why, i just loved watching her metamorphosis
anyways so iād die for siri
