Third Sister awakens alone on Coruscant six years after her death. They locate Eighth Brother while trying to make sense of the disturbance in the Force from Sernpidal’s collision with its moon.

Reuniting with Seventh Sister, she investigates Seventh’s ties to the nascent First Order by meeting with Aiya Ren. Third remains hesitant to join after their death at Vader’s hand. She later meets the former Second Sister, Trilla Suduri, unaware that they shared the same fate.

In a chance meeting with Force-sensitive smuggler Hedala Fardi, Third attempts to encourage them to embrace the power of the Force.

At the Hapan Life Day celebration, Third Sister congratulates Eighth Brother for leaving the Empire behind and decides to join them. Moments later, he dies in the chaos of the Yuuzhan Vong attack. Her Sith gauntlet absorbs some of Eighth’s power, then she escapes with their lightsaber, their ship, and some Artusian crystals she steals with help from Eldra Kaitis.

Wary of what will become of the Inquisitors in a war with the Yuuzhan Vong, Third Sister encourages Seventh Sister to disengage from the First Order and seeks information from Imperial defectors Trilla and Alexsandr Kallus.

Like his Sith gauntlet, ever drawn to its missing twin, Third approaches Force-sensitive art collector Stassam Char for help locating Third Brother’s gauntlet.

   "That they do.“ He nods at their words, looking out to the vast open plain that stretched on beneath them from the balcony’s edge. A crowd was one of the most unknown sources of the galaxy, mainly because one could not read them very well. A crowd was a wild card. They were either with a person, cheering for their victories and hoping they would succeed in life or they were against a person, cheering for their demise. He wanted neither. Kylo didn’t care for whoever cheered him on in any direction. A crowd was simply a distraction. "Does one truly need the people’s vote in order to lead successfully?”

Third gathered a sense of vague indifference from Kylo Ren. Perhaps he was as bored by all the pomp and circumstance as they were. He certainly hadn’t been fazed by her warning, which was all the same to her. His safety, success, or failure were no concern of theirs. If Kylo got himself killed—by something as embarrassing as a peasant revolt or a knife in the back from one of his not-so-devoted peons—that simply made Third’s efforts to ignore the First Order even easier.

“To lead, I’m afraid one does. But to rule? No.”  She lounged against the balcony, leaning on her left arm. The pressure helped distract them from their Sith gauntlet’s ravenous whispers to seize Kylo’s strength in the Force.   (Not today.)   “If one were to attempt the latter, I would be rather curious to hear how one intends to do so.”

Third Sister had quickly become bored with the beasts of burden running loops around the track and the mundane tittering of high society. She had left the Aristocra behind and joined the Empire precisely to escape these idle pursuits. They spotted a stunning woman with clever eyes—too clever for the gaggle of politicians around her. With a flick of her wrist, Third toppled a serving droid with the Force, spilling its drink tray onto a particularly pompous-looking senator. 

“What an unfortunate turn of events. Drink? I assure this one won’t spill. I would never dream of committing such a crime against that charming outfit. You have impeccable taste, Miss...?”

it’s a little embarrassing that they almost look around for who she’s referring in the second it takes to realize oh shit, they mean him. i don’t know what you’re talking about, they nearly say, then catches himself, considering the options. he didn’t recognize their face, which meant one of two things - either they wanted to kill him, or was a friend. really, two options that didn’t narrow down his possible safe responses whatsoever. great. 

an uncomfortable silence has settled before he responds, resisting the extremely strong urge to take a step back, then another, then get out of there as fast as possible. “yeah, it would be.” the words aren’t challenging, stated as calmly as he possibly can as dark eyes meet this stranger’s own. “from what i’ve heard, i don’t think any of them would step foot on one of these hunks of junk.” ouch, finn. okay, way to insult her ride. and, like, any other figure on this station, all of whom were likely less than model citizens, considering the reputation of this system.

She doesn’t need the Force to sense her question has made him uncomfortable — even afraid, and if that doesn’t just bring a smirk to her lips.  “Is that so? Why, then, you simply must enlighten me. What else have you heard about the Knights of Ren?” 

A prim chuckle escapes them as they follow the stranger’s gaze to the scrappy assortment of ships docked nearby. The flamboyant pink Belbullab starfighter she inherited from Eighth Brother draws the eye immediately, but if this stranger’s ship is anything like his garb it will blend in with the rest of the rabble. He’s radiating the kind of desperation to lay low that, ironically, makes him impossible to overlook.  “Pardon me for being so bold, but you seem just the teensiest bit on edge. Perhaps a drink would ease your nerves? Unless, of course, you have somewhere to be. I wouldn’t want to be presumptuous.”

“  I  did  not  believe  we  were  nearly  that  close.  “  he  said  dryly,  stepping  further  into  the  room,  looking  around  for  any  signs  of  an  ally  that  he  hadn’t  seen  during  his  surveillance.  Her  twin,  maybe.  “  I’m  flattered.  “  He  wasn’t  actually,  but  he  wouldn’t  tell  them  that.  “  I’m  a  man  of  habit.  The  ISB  certainly  told  us  not  to  trust  anyone  or  anything.  I  take  that  to  heart.  “  He  was  being  honest,  but  didn’t  tell  her  how  it  affected  him  now,  how  every  tick  or  quirk  that  came  from  The  Empire  was  just  another  reason  for  him  to  hate  Agent  Kallus.  “  I  also  knew  that  someone  with  training  similar  to  myself,  someone  who  was  interested  in  defecting,  would  likely  start  with  research.  Files  of  Imperial  atrocities,  Fulcrum  agents,  reasons  people  defected,  known  Rebel  sympathizers.  I  was  never  much  for  recruitment,  too  many  people  disliked  my  personality,  but  I  know  how  to  be  a  handler  for  spies.  “  

Alexsandr  didn’t  think  he  was  telling  her  anything  particularly  useful.  At  least,  nothing  that  could  be  used  against  him.  It  was  much  too  late  for  Imperials  to  be  shocked  by  his  current  alliances.  “  No,  I  am  not  here  to  stop  you.  I  am  here  to  inquire  about  why  you’re  doing  this.  Most  of  these  agents,  they’re  inactive.  Some  have  families  now,  some  are  dead.  If  you  are  trying  to  hunt  down  Fulcrum  agents,  you  know  just  as  well  as  I  that  it  would  not  be  in  these  files.  The  people  that  spied  for  The  Rebellion  would  not  be  that  easy  to  track.  “  He  leaned  against  a  table,  trying  to  look  nonchalant,  but  mostly  trying  to  rest  his  leg,  “  The  only  explanation  I  could  figure  out  was  that  the  person  looking  into  these  files  was  interested  in  defecting.  “  he  said.  Then,  he  remained  silent,  letting  the  words  settle  between  them  both.  

Third Sister tsked over a years-old ISB report.  “You wound me—”  They glanced at the filing officer’s name.  “—Alexsandr.”   (His first name could be Agent for all she cared.)   They reached out a hand, and though they were too far to touch, a faint movement in the Force pinched his cheek and ruffled one of those hilarious mutton chops.  “Poor, dear Agent Kallus. It is beyond me how anyone could dislike such a charming personality.”

Third gave him the rare gift of her attention as he reasoned out her interest in the old Imperial files. The man was clever, they would give him that.  “Defection is such a strong word.”  Her facetious tone belied a razor sharp gaze. They were treading into dangerous waters, now. Only Seventh and Eighth had heard even the faintest whisper of defection from her. But any risk of adding this traitor to the list could be easily remedied with a flick of her saber.  “And if one were to consider taking an indefinite leave, what sort of information might one be looking for in these files? After all, you are the expert.”  And the last time she had tried it, it ended with a scarlet saber through her chest.

the more interruptions that came about their day, the more that zarafet was tempted to simply present the illusion that she was not there. it was not as though there was anyone aboard who would have been able to see through it. the nightsister stopped, staring at the stranger in front of her. already, she was not a fan of the attitude offered, whatever the intention behind it might have been. but she doesn’t show it, nor did they offer a polite smile.

“there are many aboard the ship, as i’m sure you’re aware,” she replied with a cool tone. “zarafet.” as were many things about her, it was a name perfectly nondescript. 

“Not so many that are like us, no?”  Third Sister gave the nightsister a knowing smile — the Empire had always been dominated by humans, and it seemed that the First Order would be no different. She lowered her voice and took a step forward into Zarafet’s space.  “Fewer still who do not retreat from an Inquisitor.”

Third's red and yellow gaze locked onto the nightsister’s as she gauged their reaction. Then they stepped back just far enough for a sardonic curtsy.  “Third Sister. Though I’ve no doubt you already know that. Tell me, dear, which of your superiors has sent you scurrying to spy on me? The Grand Admiral, perhaps? Or that vexatious little red-headed pet of hers?”

   “When you’ve experienced the things I have, then truthfully most things seem incredibly mundane. I fear I am just too exciting a person to be impressed easily. Perhaps you can perform that impossible task, of how shall I say? Entertaining me.” A grin spread across their face, they could feel the hunger in the other, their wanting to be more, they knew the Dark Side, not nearly as much as Stassam did, but enough, and once you got a taste, it’s sweet embrace only pulled you in further and further.

“Did we? I can hardly remember, that night turned out to be so electric.” They chuckled, their word choice a pun on the fact they quite liberally hit a member of these new species with quite a bit of force lightening. “Of course, of course purely academic. Just like my own interest in the Jedi and the Sith.” They brought their drink to their lips, eyes with a playful sparkle. “Harbor and store energy? Hmm that is rather interesting. Of course, I have to ask, what started this academic pursuit? A research paper of some kind?” 

“Then it would seem that we have something more than archaeology in common.”  They were goading her; Third’s gaze sharpened, but aloud all she gave was a light giggle.  “I so hate to disappoint you, my friend, but I am here for my own entertainment only. The pleasure that others inevitably derive from my charming company is purely incidental.”

Third paused at Stassam’s choice of words. He sensed their powerful aptitude with the Force, but was it enough to summon lightning to their fingertips? Third Sister, herself, had only managed the feat in a moment of overwhelming grief that night. If Stassam’s claim was true, they would do well to be more cautious... but that never had been their forte, and their gauntlet’s thirst for power compelled them to be reckless.  “Something altogether more practical.”  The glittering folds of her shawl stirred to reveal the gauntlet on her left hand, its silvery body inlaid with delicate ribbons of blood red.  “Interested in assisting me with further study?”

A smirk twitched around the edges of Third Sister's lips. "Now why ever might the world decide to do that?" Her gaze traced the lines of the strangers' scarred face. Their Sith gauntlet humming with interest at the other's presence in the Force, they strode closer and spoke with quiet amusement. "You haven't given it a good reason to, have you, my dear stranger? You could tell me, you know. Heavens know that I have."

"Well spoken, if not the most effective philosophy if one means to survive." Third Sister glanced the stranger up and down. Well-dressed, attractive—and bold, judging by her words. But what did she want? "Do you mean to introduce yourself, or simply to pass along wisdom of questionable value and then carry on your merry way?"

"I take it by your poor excuse for an introduction that you've crossed paths with my sister." Third Sister twirled her saber idly, not yet igniting or advancing for an attack. They were curious to see just what this Jedi would do. "Though if the mere two of us have you making such dramatic pronouncements, I shudder to imagine how poorly you would fare if you were to truly meet all of my siblings."

rey had taken the trip to takodana because it was one of the very few planets that still had some sort of communication ability, however limited. there were a few others, of course – but she would be stupid to risk a trip to coruscant, considering it was still under imperial control. she may have been a nobody in this timeline, but it was a foolish risk, and she worked very hard not to take those. and takodana was… special.

of course, once there, once her holonet device showed signs of working… she realized she didn’t know who to reach out to. everything felt so different, now – the world was familiar enough in its way, but the way she felt within it… it was wrong. she barely felt like she belonged in her own skin, let alone in this galaxy. what if all her friends were different, too?

rey stood on a hill overlooking maz kanata’s palace, holonet device hanging loosely in her fingers. even now, as used to the diverse galaxy as she was, the beauty of takodana and it’s abundance of botanical life took her breath away. “what am i doing?” she asked herself, voice barely over a whisper.

Third Sister’s visit to Takodana was meant to be a mere stopover to contact their sister with the planet’s comparatively functional communications systems — but wherever Seventh was, the signal couldn’t reach her. Third would simply have to trust that the oversized toddlers the First Order called leadership found a solution to their comms issues sooner rather than later. The prospect had put a drink order on the tip of her tongue when she sensed an unfamiliar presence in the Force, its power too alluring to ignore.

It did not take long to follow the ripples to their source, a lone young woman on a verdant cliffside.   (Such an unassuming figure for one whose presence radiated so strongly through the Force.)   Third’s Sith gauntlet vibrated with hunger for that power. Their curiosity kept their hand from grasping their lightsaber as they approached.  “The vast majority of life forms presently situated on this odd little rock came looking for a signal or a cocktail. But it would seem you’re interested in neither.”  She inclined her head toward the stranger’s ignored holonet device.  “I admit I’m intrigued. Precisely what are you looking for?”

“Ekkreth,”  she repeats. The name is not familiar, yet something about the man is. Something they cannot place, which cautions them to tread lightly.  “You may call me Ilsal.”  He’s not sure why he uses her brother’s name.  “Pardon me for being so forward, but I have the peculiar sense that our paths have crossed before.”

there had been a point among her life where such a comment would have set their off, been motivation to serve this barely-there inquisitor a reminder of how insignificant they were. but trilla didn’t. a breath drew in through her nose, a beat passing before a sarcastic smile was given. words were better than actions. “i always preferred being an only child,” a pause. “how’s that going for you?” it was a low blow, but intentional. the last thing she wanted was any friendliness to exist between them.

ah, yes. there was the question that they wanted nothing to do with and certainly would not share the truth on the matter. “myself.” trilla answered simply, an eclipsed version of the truth. “there’s not a more worthy cause out there, as far as i can see. is that going to be a problem?”

Third Sister knew better than to show how deep that cut. She buried her outrage behind a prim, closed-lip smile and made her riposte with aristocratic precision.  “Is Seventh worth so little to you, dear sister? Tsk. Disown me if you must, I assure you the feeling is mutual, but it’s rather imprudent of you to discount her so readily.”

They tilted their head at Trilla’s response.  “On the contrary, it would seem that we have more in common than you may be inclined to hear.”  Third's gaze returned to her nails.  “One wonders how such a blunt instrument as yourself squirmed their way out from under the Empire’s heel.”

“A Mandalorian?”  And one who appears strong with the Force, she does not say aloud. That is unusual... which makes them interesting. Third extends their hand palm-down to be kissed.  “Well, Tarre Visla, you may call me Third Sister. It is my sincerest pleasure to make your acquaintance. Now, if your business requires admittance to my charming territory here, I will be collecting a percentage of any materials or bounties you extract.”  Desperate scavengers hunting for scrap for their homeworlds’ broken communication relays have already proven quite the profitable venture, yet something tells Third that there is more to this Mandalorian than that.

finn  |||  an outer rim port

It’s meant to be a quick stop, a simple pause to refuel between isolated outposts whose criminal overlords could not enforce their rule in the disarray of the galactic comms outage. But as she waits for the tank to fill, a ripple in the Force attracts her attention. Everything else about this stranger indicates they’re just another unimportant smuggler. Yet something about the way the Force flows through them sparks recognition—not defined by the dark, but undeniably touched by it. Traces linger of an aura that they recognize from their brief meeting with Aiya Ren.

“My, my. What a peculiar place to find a Knight of Ren.”  A guess, perhaps, but Third is confident that it’s a good one.

Yet another remote temple. Yet another dead end. Third Sister has had little success in her search for the Sith gauntlet that pairs with the one on her left arm. Although perhaps their presence here is not wholly wasted. The gauntlet thrums at her side, stirring faint ripples of interest in the energy around her, like a panther purring. Another Force user is here—and a formidable one, by the power they sense. Though attuned to the light, like that of the Jedi, a subtle current of darkness runs through it.

“You have a curious energy about you, my dear stranger. I sense the Force has drawn our paths to cross here today by no mere coincidence. With whom do I have the pleasure?”
