Ummm, I love Supernatural, Star Trek, and Marvel movies and shows. I also Conlang, and mess around in Photoshop as an amateur graphic designer. Also, other stuff.

Making Landfall

Lands are quintessential part of MTG. Very very few decks can operate without them. Mainly because they supply us with mana.

But what about lands that don’t tap for mana? What effect could be so good that we’re willing to give up a land drop and slow ourselves down for it? So that is this weeks challenge. Create a land that can not, in any way, produce mana.

Actually, I’m going to take it even further.

Create a land that cannot produce mana, and does not have any mana symbols on it.

I’m going to have 2 categories this time.

Hum, this is explicitly against R&D rules. Lands MUST tap for mana or otherwise produce some mana in some form (and no land can be strictly better than a basic land, but this is less relevant here). I know, this is just a fan contest, we’re not bound to R&D rules, but if we want to design *Magic* cards, I believe we should adhere to *Magic* design rules, no?

…the warlord had arrogantly assumed from Aminatou’s childlike demeanor that simply threatening her would be enough to bully her into obedience. Now his forces were gone; drowned in the muddy bog that seemed to go on around him for miles. It wasn’t until the muck had reached the middle of his torso that he realized he had no way to stop his own sinking, and his rage turned to panic. 

“Please!” the warlord begged, “I could be a mighty ally for you! It’s said that you have the power to shift the fates and change one’s destiny. I see now that this defeat was my own doing, but I can change! Please save me from this terrible fate. Don’t let me die a humiliating death in this stinking, foul place!” 

Aminatou said nothing, but continued to move the water with her stick as she stood above the bog. 

“Listen to me!” the warlord screamed, desperation dripping from his voice. “Don’t you realize who I am? I can give you anything! Just save me, and I’ll do anything!” 

Aminatou looked at him with lazy eyes. “Anything?” 

“Yes! Yes!” cried the warlord, his shoulders disappearing below the slime. “ANYTHING!!” 

“Then pewish.”

This is not an exaggeration.  Your download speed would slow down to the point where Windows would make this kind of absurd estimate, and you’d sigh and leave the room for a while (because you couldn’t use the computer while it was doing this for fear it would crash and lose all your progress) and then you’d come back in 40 minutes and maybe it would now say 52 years or maybe it would say 3 minutes, who knew, not Windows.

Sorry if this is a newbie question but, what is the functional difference between a supertype and subtype?

A supertype comes before the card type, things like Legendary and Basic. They usually have some rules baggage.

A subtype comes after the card type and is usually descriptive. Creature types are subtypes. Subtypes usually don’t carry rules baggage.

Every single region has an accent. But, it's generally only people from somewhere else that can tell. It is 100% a matter of perspective.
