“Oh good, I really enjoyed where I stayed last time, so I look forward to seeing it again,” he gave her his best impression of an innocent smile. He liked to watch the waver in her demeanor when she was around him. Constantly walking the line of impropriety around her.
He fell into step next to her, standing closer than necessary, but they were obscured by the crowd. “I’ve missed you,” he said under his breath, looking straight ahead. “If this offcial visit hadn’t come up I was going to make one up, I wanted to see you for the holidays.”
Once they got inside his room he pulled her to him in a tight hug for a moment before pulling back slightly and kissing her, slow and shallow, reacquainting himself with her lips.
“Is that so?” His comments earned him a sharp look, but it lacked venom. Truth be told she was glad to see him, the thought of the holidays alone bothered her for the first time in her life and she didn’t know how to cope.
“Remember, this is still work.” It was all she could think to say, feeling the need to control the situation. Pointless, she knew, as Ian had a wonderful way of making her lose control.
Once inside, she couldn’t help herself. Kissing hims back with gusto she pulled him to her, not at all minding the fact they stood just a few feet from the hall. It was as far as she could manage without touching him.
