Got myself some new trainers.. can’t say they’re my usual colours but they seem to be doing the trick!
12 runs, 4 weeks & 42.5 miles!
Routine, routine, routine.. I cannot explain how beneficial it’s been for me over the last 4 weeks. 3 runs a week, 2 x 30 minutes, 1 x 50 minutes and a whole lot of fresh air.
I’d be lying if I said parts of the last month hadn’t been hard, just this Tuesday I had a complete meltdown at 2 miles, it was only the thought of the time it’d take to walk the mile and a half back to the car that made me pick the pace up and get through to the end.
The sense of achievement I felt last week though, when I completed a 5 mile run in the same time it took me 3 weeks ago to do 3 miles was outstanding. I really feel the progress you see on a weekly basis is what makes running so addictive and rewarding.
I still feel like there is absolute no way I’m going to be able to run over 26 miles but I have just over 5 months still to get there. It’s a hell of a challenge but I’m making steady progress.
My next task is finding out where I can run when I visit NYC for Thanks Giving, I’m going to be there for 5 days, 2 of which are my usual run days. I could use the hotel treadmill but I’d rather not. So I’m on the hunt for a friendly running group or two that I can tag along with? No advanced running, just a mixed ability bunch?? Any advice would be gratefully received!!
Hair washing hell..
I feel like I'm starting to find my stride with these runs, two weeks ago I felt like I was dying after 2 minutes. Today I ran for 30 minutes straight, If I'd of had to, I could of kept going.
My main issue, believe it or not, has nothing to do with the running itself, it's the constant hair washing! I'm lucky enough to have near on butt length hair, it's great, I'd never get it cut but my god washing and drying it is a ball ache. Hair wash day used to be Friday and Tuesday, twice a week, religiously. Since I've been running hair wash day has gone to pot, I'm out of sync and it's being washed 3 times a week minimum. This may not sound like a big deal to most but if you know, you know.
In other news I've set up my just giving page, my target is a modest £500, I'm hoping to smash that quite dramatically.

I'll try and post a bit more next week. Last week was hectic!
2 runs down.. 82 to go until Marathon day. (Holy sh*tballs, that’s a lot of running)
My sister found out today that she didn’t get a ballot place, nor did my boyfriend, so I’m in this on my own... (I may be forgetting the thousands of other people who were lucky enough to get ballot places).
If anyone on here is a seasoned marathon runner or just a runner in general?! please feel free to share all or any of your wonderful training, refuelling, how to keep motivated advice. I honestly need all the help I can get!
So... Virgin London Marathon 2018 anyone?
WOW.
I have very few words at the moment. Shock is my main emotion. I got a ballot space in the 2018 London Marathon, I wish I knew that stats on how hard that actually is. I’ve seen people tweeting that have been trying to get ballot places for 6 / 7 years and never managed it.
I’ve never run a marathon before, I’ve never run 10k before.. this is going to be a BIG challenge but a challenge that I am going to throw myself whole hog into. Go hard or go home right?
So I started my training today, I need to build my stamina before I start the 16 week pre marathon plan (28 weeks until race day). I did what I planned to do and I’m happy with that. I imagine I’m not going to find every run quite as pleasing as I did with todays. I’ve also ordered myself a giant wall planner so I can track my runs and countdown my weeks. I will do this and its going to be blooming awesome.
Lastly - Charity... would be wrong to run the marathon and not try and raise so money for a worthy cause wouldn’t it. I’ve decided to veto the big charities, they’ll have a lot of people running for them. The TVAA (Thames Valley Air Ambulance) is my charity of choice, I will post more information about them over the coming weeks. Once my donations page is up and running I will post a link to that as well.
For now, this is me today.. blowing out of my arse after my first ‘training’ run!
Watching these two brings me so much joy 💙 One day the man I see is going to be an incredible daddy.
I may be biased but I don't think much beats the UK when the suns shining ☀️
The 1st time in nearly 8 years all of my girls have been in one place 💕👰🏼💒🍸
Evidently, the American political system still has the capacity to rouse itself and restrict the display of offensive flags. Unfortunately, doing anything about guns, which kill more than thirty thousand people a year in the U.S., is still beyond the nation.
