12 runs, 4 weeks & 42.5 miles!
Routine, routine, routine.. I cannot explain how beneficial it’s been for me over the last 4 weeks. 3 runs a week, 2 x 30 minutes, 1 x 50 minutes and a whole lot of fresh air.
I’d be lying if I said parts of the last month hadn’t been hard, just this Tuesday I had a complete meltdown at 2 miles, it was only the thought of the time it’d take to walk the mile and a half back to the car that made me pick the pace up and get through to the end.
The sense of achievement I felt last week though, when I completed a 5 mile run in the same time it took me 3 weeks ago to do 3 miles was outstanding. I really feel the progress you see on a weekly basis is what makes running so addictive and rewarding.
I still feel like there is absolute no way I’m going to be able to run over 26 miles but I have just over 5 months still to get there. It’s a hell of a challenge but I’m making steady progress.
My next task is finding out where I can run when I visit NYC for Thanks Giving, I’m going to be there for 5 days, 2 of which are my usual run days. I could use the hotel treadmill but I’d rather not. So I’m on the hunt for a friendly running group or two that I can tag along with? No advanced running, just a mixed ability bunch?? Any advice would be gratefully received!!
