Sadly, car manufacturers have much more controlled paint processes now (to reduce waste) and as a result there is much less overspray, and thus much less fordite being generated. Also cars are, mostly, much less colorful than they used to be. It's rather like authentic beach glass in a way. There are other sources of monolithic paint buildup (like Cadillac Ranch, example given above) but automotive paint is extremely hard and durable and so makes the best fordite.
