It perfectly masked the smell of blood, and sometimes piss, that were the consequences of Pansy’s breakups. He loved the ritual of slipping on a thick, plastic disposable apron, surgical face mask, shoe covers, and rubber elbow-length gloves before gathering all the materials needed from their storage closet to make Pansy’s ex-boyfriends disappear.

Draco curled his fingers over Harry’s hand on his knee and looked up at him. “You drive a hard bargain, Mr Potter, but I think I can meet those terms.” Draco nearly spilled himself into Harry’s lap and tilted his chin up, a teasing smile on his lips as his breath came out in short puffs against Harry’s lips. His smile widened when he felt Harry tighten his fingers around Draco’s hand. He pressed soft, gentle kisses to the corner of Harry’s mouth. “Is this what you want?” Draco breathed.
“More,” Harry growled.

Silver and porcelain clinked together as dish plates were passed around and glasses of wine and water were refilled. As they ate and drank, the atmosphere in the room became loose and merry.

Laughing, Derrick choked on his sip of wine at a joke Pansy told about their employer. “Our district manager is a beast, I swear,” he said. “Such a ghastly woman.”
Pansy rolled her eyes. “Of course she is. She’s from Shoreditch.”
Hermione cleared her throat. “What, exactly, does that have to do with anything?”
Pansy wrinkled her nose. “It’s a shit area? A shit area for a shit person.”
“Because it’s a poor area that’s being heavily gentrified?” Hermione asked in a tight voice.
Pansy picked up her glass of wine in a leisurely manner and fixed Hermione with a bored look. “What the hell does gentrified mean?”
Hermione opened and closed her mouth several times as she squinted at Pansy. Draco found Derrick staring at him, his mouth in a small “o”-shape. Draco bared his clenched teeth and raised both brows in secondhand embarrassment.

Harry felt like the Giant Squid, an innumerable amount of long tentacles always reaching out to touch Draco. Draco sometimes spent time running his hands up and down the flanks of Harry’s body, just checking for extra arms.
Harry’s always smiling and laughing.
Everywhere they go in Muggle London, all Harry has to do is smile and world weary-Londoners brighten up and ask what they can do for him. There’s powerful magic in his smile, there must be, because Draco’s fallen victim to its potency far too many times.
And it makes Draco so stupid. So, so bloody stupid.

what is a kinkmeme?
long ago on the ancient website of livejournal, people hosted prompt & fill events on comment boards called kinkmemes. anyone could anonymously post prompts that reflected their hearts' deepest desires, and anyone else could anonymously write for the prompts that spoke to them. after fans moved on from lj, kinkmemes moved onto dreamwidth, but dreamwidth did not really survive as a platform, and modern fandom platforms (ao3, tumblr) did not provide the same degree of freedom and anonymity required for kinkmemes to thrive, so gradually kinkmemes became less common…
but people want them back!

in a fandom world under threat of censorship, and filled with people battling everyday over fandom purity, i believe kinkmemes are a safe haven we sorely need!
and, in a fandom world where creators feel pressured by social media and algorithms to impose various standards on their own work, and to "perform well" and "compare stats" i believe kinkmemes will remind people where their drive to create comes from!
some kinkmemes do exist today, for select fandoms, on mostly ao3 and dreamwidth, but these do not live very long, and for several reasons…
firstly, while ao3 does support anonymous prompting and filling via their "challenges" system, posting on ao3 lacks the whimsical, ephemeral and spontaneous nature of posting via comment threads on lj or dw. ao3 is by nature an archive, and requires users to go through a rigorous process to title, tag, and summarize their fics. fics also gain "stats" (hits, kudos, and comments) which are all things that further complicate the process of posting.
secondly, dreamwidth is an ugly site, and nobody uses it. it is unfortunately actually the perfect site to host kinkmemes on, with all the original functionality needed as on lj, but people just… aren't on dreamwidth. there's no draw.
which is why i have created a new kind of kinkmeme - one that is hosted within a discord server!
🎉the Room of Wrecks Kinkmeme Server is a new discord-based HP kinkmeme that opens next week for prompts! 🎉
i believe discord is the perfect platform for the new gen of kinkmemes because everyone in fandom is on it, and it is an unrestrictive, spontaneous space. the main hurdle was anonymity, but Room of Wrecks (RoW) uses a custom bot that will enable users to send in prompts AND fills anonymously.
when users join the RoW server, there will be no notification to the server list, no "hello" message that exposes a new member, no limits on lurking. the only feature of discord that could not be changed via bot is the member list on the right hand side which displays to all, but hopefully, as long as a large enough population of people join the server to lurk, anonymity can still be maintained.

I think 50 shades of grey did so much damage to BDSM writing in fic and like not because I think fic writers were taking inspiration from it, but we did get a lot of detailed explanatory posts about all the different ways in which those guys were Doing It Wrong, which is not in and of itself a bad thing but since then everybody got so hung up on making sure everybody in their fics was nothing like 50 shades of grey and actually demonstrates that yes I do understand the principles of safe sane and consensual and the traffic light system and safewording and aftercare and checking in that now everybody fucks like a 101 handbook and I think we've only just recently started to recover from it. love me a dynamic where it's two repressed freak idiots who accidentally invent BDSM all on their own and have to come up with the strangest most deeply harmful ways of navigating that situation
