apparently pinned posts are a thing now? so why not!
♥ hi! im thxne, but i usually go by nymphs/sarah! she/her pls! 25+ y/o.
♥ if i seem familiar, it's bc i made gifsets and edits YEARS ago. i don't think i'll be doing those anymore, but they're here if you want to see them.
♥ im primarily obsessed with mass effect, but i also play ffxiv, da, and a bunch of others.
♥ for mass effect, my canon is a dual shepard canon that i will happily elaborate on. they have an entire lore document which you can find here if you want to read it. (you can find remnants of their old designs in my edits, but i had to recreate them from memory when i got a good pc.)
♥ i write mostly mini fics and lore stuff now, but i hope to draw and share the lil brain worms i have.
if you have any questions or wanna get to know stuff better, feel free to send an ask! it's nice to meet you all again!
morinth could've had so much potential if she wasn't written off/forgotten about.
imagine a morinth going to the monastery to save her sisters. she knows what they think about her. she knows that they feel neutral/distrustful about her at best.
but she doesn't care about that. she has always cared about her sisters. her e-mails that she tried to send to them shows that (even if she did try to lie in them and say that samara was killed by the collectors and not herself). considering how intelligent morinth is, she more than likely knows they never went through, but wanted to send them anyway.
morinth meets shepard and co. where they would normally meet samara, acting as the classic stand in. i imagine she would be in her mother's justicar attire, wanting to impersonate her so her sisters would trust her and be more willing to accept her help. the mission would play out as normal, except morinth would talk in her normal voice to shepard over the radio and engage in casual dialogue vs samara's formal/respectful dialogue.
the part with falere and rila would play out the same, except there would be something morinth says or does to tip falere off. when they reach the exit to the monastery, falere would confront "samara" and ask if it's truly her or if it's morinth. this could play out in two ways:
1) morinth reveals herself as, well...herself. she tells falere what she said in her e-mail to them: that samara died on the suicide mission. falere would call bullshit, which would prompt a charm/intimidate persuasion check.
as shepard was the leader of the suicide mission, they could back up morinth's lie and shepard and morinth would tell falere that the reason morinth took on samara's identity was because of mistrust. should the check succeed, falere believes them and wonders what to do now that the monastery is destroyed. morinth tells her to "live her life" and promises to help shepard fight the reapers.
2) this would be if the check didn't exist or wasn't able to be met. falere refuses to believe anything morinth says and begins to try and kill morinth. morinth, of course, fights back, explaining how their mother would try and kill them all if she could. here, shepard would have to make a choice that is all too similar to what they made before: support morinth or support falere.
should falere be supported, morinth will be killed in a fashion similar to how samara would kill her if samara was chosen in me2. falere will then tell shepard to leave and that she will be staying on the planet. finding out her mother was dead, her sister's death, and having to kill her last remaining family, falere falls into a deep depression and is too weakened to fight the reapers on their return. as a result, in the final battle for earth, there would be a special banshee with falere's name.
should morinth be supported, falere will simply be knocked out, with morinth commenting on how she was always too emotional. shepard, morinth, and co leave the planet. after a few missions, shepard receives an e-mail from falere, telling the commander to rot and that she hopes they both suffer for murdering her mother. she also threatens that if she ever sees them again, she won't let them leave alive. there could also be a war asset loss here if some asari found out about shepard helping a loose ardat-yakshi.
ANYWAY long post but i have many thoughts about morinth and how her arc could've played out in me3 pls enjoy

alien headcanons bc i cant sleep. since im half asleep while writing these if they go against canon and dont make sense oh well!
these currently are about the asari (mostly asari pairing children), drell, and quarians!
Asari
i like to believe that asari pairings have unique traits passed down to their offspring! as for what they are, here are some thoughts:
asari/asari pairings produce children with stronger-than-usual biotics and tend to be more of a true blue than other pairing's children.
asari/quarian pairings produce children with weak immune systems, but not as weak as a quarian's. they get sick more often, but not to the point where they need to live in a suit.
asari/turian pairings produce children with a higher resistance to solar radiation. as with their turian parent, they also have traces of thulium in their skin, which makes their skin tougher and shinier, similar to a turian's carapace.
asari/salarian children tend to have a higher I.Q. and shorter lifespans than others. they also speak a lot quicker and imprint on the asari parent.
asari/krogan children are more aggressive than other children. they also live longer than a normal asari due to both the parents having long lifespans. they are also more resistent to nuclear radiation. the offspring of krogan and asari have a higher chance of having twins, triplets, etc..
asari/hanar kids are able to breathe underwater through their gills, thanks to the hanar parent. they may also have bioluminescent skin.
asari/vorcha children are not only allergic to dairy, but also have sharper teeth like their vorcha parent. they're also immune to *all* diseases/have a incredibly strong immune system.
asari/drell offspring are more sensitive to humidity and thus prefer dry climates like their drell parents. they can also remember almost every detail in their long, long life, but cannot slip into those memories.
asari/batarian children have more of a "guttural" voice than the others. their skin can have a faint yellow or brown mix to it that will either be shown through their markings or some other expression. they also tend to have better eyesight thanks to their batarian parent.
asari/volus children are able to breathe in ammonia-based environments. they are also shorter compared to other asari.
asari/elcor offspring have a strong sense of smell and have thicker skin. they can also understand elcor better than non-asari/elcor pairings.
asari/human kids are immune to many, if not all, human-based diseases (diseases that afflict other species they have an average immunity to). they also inherit the genetic diversity of their human parent, making it so they can have eye colors that asari typically don't have.
when it comes to asari, i also believe that they lay eggs or something similar and lay their eggs through the back of their head where all the tentacles meet. sounds crazy, i know, but they're aliens! cmon! it's sci-fi!
my last asari headcanon (SORRY THIS WAS SO LONG) is that they have no defined appearance, they all look different depending on the species looking at them.
--------------------
Drell
this section will be a LOT shorter than the asari i promy.
i believe drell have different skin tones depending on their gender at birth. mab drell tend to have cooler tones like blue, green, and purple while fab drell tend to have warmer tones like orange, yellow, and red.
drell with more vibrant skin tones have more potent venom to the point where it can cause more severe things than hallucinations, like vomiting or fainting (or both).
--------------------
Quarians
quarians have no teeth. hear me out.
tali has shown us that the suits have a hole used for things like straws and i'm sure it's a huge pain in the ass to take off the mask and eat solid foods. you risk infection and SURELY people would know what quarians looked like if they took off their masks to eat.
so they dont!
ever since quarians started living in their suits, they adjusted the way they eat. they grind everything down to a paste and suck it through a straw, never having to chew anything. this is how they feed their young in the bubble and all the way up til they die.
do they lose their teeth as a kid and never grow any back? in 300 years, did they just evolve to not need teeth anymore? did they ever have teeth to begin with? who knows!
i also believe their skin is sticky or has a tacky feel to it since they were able to carry seeds. maybe they have micro-hairs but i like to believe the only species that have hair are the humans.

thank you to everyone who expressed an interest and encouraged me to start this series! and thank you to garrus vakarian for agreeing to model. a lot of this I've already talked about in this turian anatomy hc post, but not all of it. I hope you like it!
please note that I am not a biologist or scientist of any kind. I've done my best to research and think things through, but I might not always be a hundred percent accurate, especially in my anatomical illustrations. that said, I'm really pleased with the skull shape I came up with :)
about the female turian: I reject most of the design the ME3 Omega DLC introduced as it is largely nonsensical and they clearly valued sex appeal over lore and anatomical consistency, which is a shame. this is what I go with instead! I've decided that while I think the curly plates are cute, they do make more sense as a rare family trait than as a sexually dimorphic one. the turian I show here doesn't have the trait, but others might, including males!
