“Deconstruction”

Yay Satomi is back! One of my attempts on a rough one-layer artwork, where you rely on brush strokes that create a nice piece of art, just like in impressionism. The key of this drawing was to try another technique, in which I completely failed and found myself unable to make something that looks rough, yet complete. Not because of skills, but because of my nature putting so much detail into everything. Well, I need to practise more. :P Another key was to draw directly on canvas without any sketch. All of the “fake” guiding lines were added later. I was pretty shocked how well you can draw without sketching first, as the drawing transforms with your brushstrokes. The progress was made in 3 steps, in each of them I pointed out main mistakes +added pros and cons of the current state of a drawing. This is to track my personal flaws and see how I corrected them.

The point of impressionism was to work fast. To be fair, this artwork unlike my many others was quite easy to finish, only 2 hours of pure time, which is hella IMPRESSIVE :DDD maybe it was the technique, maybe because I used only 2 colours. Who knows.

Name: Nigel / Mercy / Mercy of the Few

Pronouns: He/him

Bio: After the supposed extinction of his species, many lived on outside of captivity for years undetected. Through this line, the species dwindled again and again… until Nigel was born to a small family of thylacines out in the wild. As winter began to close in, he watched his sister, who had been chosen as the destiny child to continue the species, succumb to illness and perish. His mother was sure to do the same not long after, but not before titling Nigel as “Mercy of the Few”, making him promise to find any remaining females and court them so that thylacines may live on.

The problem remains that Nigel cannot find any females, and what’s more… he’s not interested in the opposite gender.

Occasionally, he sees visions and apparitions of his ancestors where he resides, and has kept himself hidden underground for most of his life in a cavern of winding tunnels and twisting pathways. For others, it is easy to get lost and die of starvation. For him, he has mastered the art of these paths and can traverse them in the blink of an eye.

(But I wanted them to fit my current style a bit better, that’s why i changed them up a little. I think they look better this way)
