Reblog to save a duck
Quack quack
It’s getting to be that time of year where more people are going outside to parks and stuff so i thought it would a good idea to reblog this again
Once I was feeding some ducks from a bag of birdseed I brought with me, and this woman next to me looked so confused and asked what I was feeding them
When I said it was birdseed she just went “oh- can they actually eat that? Is that safe?”
I didnt know how to respond like, at all, so I just pointed at the duck and said “bird”
She then had a look on her face like a new groove was just forcibly carved in her brain and said softly “oh my fucking god”

Literally sobbing. A judge, a US judge defended us. A judge brought up intersex people, uaing the term intersex, to *defend* us by not allowing our erasure. I'm having a lot of feelings right now
Somebody get Judge Reyes a bodyguard and some armor plates for under robes during court.
I'm serious, we need to protect every friend we have right now.
A judge openly defending intersex people with nearly-correct stats about us?? (It's more like 40 variations but he was rly close. Wow)
I've never seen shit like this tbh
-> Judge Ana Reyes was appointed by Biden as the first Latina and first openly LGBT judge to serve in a district court in DC
-> she said during the hearing that she's been getting an insane amount of hate mail because of this trial. PLEASE contact her and show her some support. Her email address is listed on her court webpage.
let us take a moment and grieve for all the lives lost. so many thousand people have been murdered by the zionist entity in the last fifteen months. palestinians in gaza have lost too much, from friends and family to their homes and livelihood.
this ceasefire is not an end to our solidarity with gaza. we will all be here waiting and praying for palestine to be wholly liberated from the occupation and watch her people be happy and free.
in the meantime, please keep donating to palestinian fundraisers. it is essential to support families planning on rebuilding.

I know you are tired of all the GFM links you see all day, but I am not a beggar. In short, I will tell you this. These may be my last words. I never imagined living such suffering. Losing my loved ones, living on the street, going to bed hungry... I am not a beggar, but I have lost everything I have... I am asking you to help me, I am not forcing you.
Your donation will save a life.

hello y'all, i know right now in the west where most of the tumblr userbase is it's christmas time: the season of giving, where people acrossthe world are buying many presents for their beloveds and decorations as well like christmas trees and lights in preparation for festivities. yet meanwhile, in the birthplace of christ himself, the man that this holiday celebrates, the palestinian people are suffering calamity and tragedy beyond anything any of us can comprehend. around the day people come to celebrate a mother's birth of a very special child, thousands of actual mothers and their children are experiencing the horrors of war.
one such mother and child is suad ahmed and her child khaled. khaled was born during the midst of this war, and as a result cannot grow in the safety and health a child deserves. he's currently very ill with a respiratory illness and his body, not even fully developed yet, fights so hard to live. i cannot imagine fighting for survival before even being a year old..
the best, most meaningful gift you can give to anyone this christmas, is support for the mother and child under war. this campaign is literally their lifeline, as all proceeds go to necessities like tents, clothing, food and water and baby formula. so please give what you can and share.

let's help her get to her short term goal!
Amir and his family have been displaced 7 times since this war began, and are under threat of being displaced again. Two days ago Israeli planes dropped leaflets over their camp saying they would be bombing the area. It is already incredibly difficult to live in these conditions even without the threat of being bombed. Please help Amir and his family by donating so they can continue purchasing basic necessities for their family! (verified, #174)

@saudadiste7: Very very scary that Neely's sickle cell trait was used by Penny's defense that he would have died anyway, unclear if the trait was even expressed, if you have "the wrong genes" they can straight up kill you and say it was God's will. I'm late for work, this floored me
@internetuserf12: Daniel Penny’s murder of Jordan Neely was justified on the basis that Jordan Neely had a pre-existing health condition(sickle cell). Please take a moment to comprehend(and research) how the U.S. legal system codifies eugenics.
This isn’t just eugenics. It’s vigilante eugenics backed by the courts. “Mr. Penny’s lawyers suggested that Mr. Neely had died because of a toxic combination of his synthetic marijuana use, sickle cell trait and mental illness.”
link to the article in the tweet.
It must be mentioned that the U.S. has a very long legal history of openly using eugenics, specifically, to covertly target Black folks, specifically. Please, consider reading the incredible works of Dorothy Roberts on the subject.

and this tweet:
i found different articles sort of confirming it, in the almost the exact same wording they cite actually three things as contributing factors to his death
An autopsy by the city’s medical examiner’s office found that Garner died as a result of compression of the neck and body, and cited his history of asthma, heart disease, and obesity as contributing factors. The office ruled the death a homicide, which simply means the killing of one person by another. The question that the grand jury faced was whether this was a lawful killing. After its decision was announced, Pantaleo issued a statement in which he said, “I became a police officer to help people and to protect those who can’t protect themselves. It is never my intention to harm anyone and I feel very bad about the death of Mr. Garner.”
the new yorker 2014
i must believe it seems it is what convinced the jury it wasn't an unlawful killing and rather a tragedy where the police could not be at fault because how could they possibly know? it doesn't matter that force wasn't even needed, what matters is that the officer had a right to use it, what was contested was if he was at fault for that force killing someone who couldn't withstand it, they concluded eric garner was at fault for his own death, the right to violence is not only protected, any excess is simply seen as natural to the order of things because he was had three conditions predisposing his death.

[...] Rally at Hall building - The student movement grew more active at 2 p.m. for a “Support the Strike” rally organized by Solidarity for Palestine’s Honour and Resistance (SPHR), as an extension of the overall day of strikes. The demonstration started off with around 100 people, who were joined by several hundred students from Dawson College and McGill University 10 minutes into the rally.
Before the rally, SPHR and student associations had made their strike demands public. Their demands include: for Concordia to publicize their full investment portfolio; for the university to seize all employment partnerships with military companies; for the university to publically condemn the genocide in Gaza; for the university to prohibit police presence on campus; and for the administration to “stop its repression campaign on students.”
The demonstration began with chants from SPHR organizers demanding that the university divest. [...]
“Today, as we see, is a historic day for the student movement. 11,000 students are on strike at Concordia, 11,000 students saying they do not want to be complicit with Israel, 11,000 students demanding that Concordia cut ties with weapons companies,” [ex-general coordinator of SPHR and current Palestinian Youth Movement member] Abisaab said. “Concordia has ignored these demands.” [...]

Hey y’all especially those in swing states, eyes up:
Tesla CEO Elon Musk says he created America PAC, which collects data in swing states key to the 2024 election between Donald Trump and Kamal
The elongated muskrat has engaged in blatant election interference by putting out a fake voter registration page on Google ads with the clear intention to dupe voters into thinking they have actually registered to vote. It’s likely also a data harvesting tactic.
Hopefully this gets immediately flagged and taken down but we all know this fascist chucklefuck will not see consequences to his actions and this is something that would drag out in court. Spread the word. Only register to vote through state board or check vote.org for more resources. Do not register through anything else ESPECIALLY if it has some sort of clear motivation.
Scummy as fuck
Be Aware and Spread the Word
Palestinian men should not have to repeatedly hold up pictures of their family struggling through a genocide, for us to care about them. Fundraisers conducted by/for Palestinian men, should not have to repeatedly refer to their mothers, sisters, wives and children, to make us realize their humanity, their vulnerability. Enough. Isn't it enough after so many months? Hadn't it always been enough?
It makes me feel so fucking scummy when everytime I answer a fundraiser, I have to exclusively talk about their children, their wives or their elderly parents struggling. Do Palestinian men not struggle? Do they not get injured? Do they not suffer from chronic illnesses? Do they not get terrible rashes in summer? Do they not get dehydrated? Do they not get hungry? Do they not fall sick with hepatitis? Do they not despair? Are they not bombed? Are they not shot at? Do they not get rounded up like animals and stripped and blindfolded and tortured and assaulted? Are they not thrown in solitary confinement? Do they not have IOF dogs sicced on them? When will it be enough? What will be enough?
