5. Well my life is so bountiful I don’t need a boyfriend to feel fulfilled. {Blair Waldorf, 2x18}
The best advice I have ever received is that everyone in the world will want to tell you no, to disregard and diminish your power, so you have to tell yourself yes!
Sunday Candy - Chance The Rapper
(Modern) Princess Tiana
Tiana - 10/2015
“I know what you’re thinking. It’s too good to be true. If I were in the market for one I’d snatch it from right under you. How ‘bout you give me fifty even and we call it a day?”
“Tempting offer, I tell you, it really is. But I’m gonna have to pass.”
‘Cause I slay.
“You caught me. I’m a mannerless yankee.”
“We all have our flaws, sweetpea. Just glad to see you’re so acceptin’ of yours. Or this one, at least.”
“–AND you’re welcome to not call me ‘sir.’”
“Oh, I’m sorry. Must be those Southern manners, you know? Or, actually, I suppose you wouldn’t.”
IMMEDIATELY, wendy recognized the face and managed to show the girl a tired smile. “yeah–me too. i don’t like this.” the brunette replied–mumbled, more so–as she put the beer bottle on the table, pushing it to the side slowly as she still tried to get rid off the terrible taste. “now i’ve tried that–it’s not going to happen again anytime soon.” she concluded, sighing. “anyway, how are you ?” she then asked, smiling back at tiana, softly.❞
Chuckling softly, Tiana nudged her Tupperware closer to Wendy, nodding at the accompanying fork. “Try a bite, guaranteed to rid you of the taste,” she said with a smirk. “Me? Oh, I’m alright. Just resting my old bones for a few minutes.” She clenched her fists, the joints cracking loudly and coaxing a wince out of the older woman. She’d skipped her fifteen minute break earlier because of the lunch rush... and come to think of it, hadn’t she done the same a day or so ago? Frankly, she was starting to lose track, but that was a thought to obsess later. For now, she could focus on someone else’s problems. “Where’d a sweet little thing like you get that bottle, anyhow?” she pondered aloud, her fingernails tapping lightly against the table in time with her words.
WENDY WAS USED TO BEING BY HERSELF, but as she sat on her usual spot in the small cafe, she couldn’t help but feel a bit lonely tonight. a bit hesitantly, she placed the beer bottle at her lips, taking a sip before shaking her head as the liquid ran down her throat. “ugh–gross, why would people even want to drink this.” she mumbled to herself, unaware of someone sliding next to her.❞
Not that Tiana would ever admit it out loud, but she always knew the only good thing about a six hour dead shift was the lovely half-hour break it came with. Swallowing down a yawn, she placed her empty tray on the cafe’s bar counter and reached behind it for her Tupperware container. Tiana turned as she untied her apron, surveying the cafe shrewdly. It was pretty quiet for the time of night, all the booths empty save the very last. Squinting at the occupant’s face until she could place a name to it, Tiana nodded smartly and strode toward it just in time to catch Wendy’s remarks. “Can’t say I’ve ever known the answer to that one, sugar,” Tiana announced as she took a seat in the cramped booth. “I’ve always been more of a sweet tea person myself.” She didn’t know Wendy too terribly well, but she was sure enough that she wasn’t old enough for the beer bottle clutched in her hand. She wouldn’t mention it, though; she was too tired for any drama tonight. All she really needed was a dinner companion.
