It depends on the story! Unless there's a really, really good reason to do otherwise, use the points of view needed to give the audience the information you want them to have without straining credibility to get that information to an existing pov character so you can communicate it to the audience.

Got another rejection. "Summons is mandatory. Failure to appear will result in contempt of court." My roommate thought this was hilarious. Roommate: Felix is going to jail. Me: This is serious. Roommate: Bring him to court. See what happens. Decided that was actually the only option left. Day of jury duty, put Felix in his carrier. Brought the entire paper trail of rejection letters. Checked in at the courthouse. Clerk: Name? Me: Felix Martinez. Clerk: (looked at the cat carrier) Is that Felix? Me: Yes. Clerk: (long stare) He's a cat. Me: I've been saying that for six weeks. Clerk: Why didn't you file an exemption? Me: I filed three. All rejected. Showed her the letters. She read through them, expression shifting from confusion to disbelief. Clerk: Someone rejected the veterinary documentation? Me: Twice. Clerk: (called her supervisor over) You need to see this. Supervisor read everything. Looked at Felix. Looked at me. Supervisor: How did a cat get registered to vote? Me: You tell me. Supervisor: This is a data error. Me: Took you six weeks to figure that out. They dismissed Felix immediately. Apologized for the inconvenience. Supervisor: We'll remove him from the voter registry. Me: Appreciate it. Supervisor: (pause) Out of curiosity, how would he have voted? Me: Probably whatever party supports universal treats. Got a formal apology letter a week later and a voter registration card. For me this time. Apparently I wasn't registered, but my cat was. No offence, but Rios, Jurati, Elnor, Raffi, and Soji all deserved to be on a much better series than Star Trek: Picard.
I hate to say it, but Picard would have been a better show without Patrick Stewart.
I don't think you can salvage the show itself, whether Patrick Stewart was in it or not. There were individual characters and subplots that were interesting, but much of the foundation of the show along with the main plot in each of the 3 seasons was just bad and that and the supporting material for those plots should have been nuked.
Nah. The show could have been salvaged. It just needed to **follow up on literally anything ever**.
Season 1 wasn't great. That's okay. Lots of Trek shows open with not-great first seasons. It ended in a good place, though... amazing cast gets a found family vibe and is on a neat little ship together to go on to the next adventure.
Season 2 could have followed up on that. Given this amazing cast an adventure to go on together. Instead it throws all that out and splits everyone up, instantly writes Dajh and Elnor out of any significant role, tells us that Raffi and Seven had an entire relationship start, happen, and end offscreen, and runs a plot with barely any connection to what we've seen before.
Again, this season ends in a place that could lead to interesting things. Yeah, we lost Rios, which sucks, and we'll need to do something to reestablish Elnor and Dajh in the cast, but the Jurati-Borg are such a cool idea and we could get something...
Nope. TNG reunion and the most shit season arc in Trek history. Season 3 of Picard permanently damaged my enthusiasm for Star Trek as a whole, and watching people continue all these years later to cream themselves for the idea of Terry Matalas getting to do more of that makes me kinda hate a fandom I've been part of since I was a child and TNG was on its first run.

Dear video essay creators. A video analysis is when you analyze a piece of media. No no look at me. A summary, no matter how thorough, is not an analysis. An analysis requires you to draw conclusions about the media such as authorial intent, real-world parallels, discussion about themes/worldbuilding/character motivation, and so much more. You have to stop summarizing something and saying that’s analysis. The Gaylors are doing more critical analysis than you. Is that who you want to lose to? The gaylors?

Not a popular opinion on tumblr I know but I would argue character death is good for stories, actually, and often a death with long narrative consequences is much better use of a character than having them linger with no more important plot beats to hit.
Character death isn’t writers being mean to viewers or something characters don’t “deserve,” it’s an important part of narrative and plotting to give stories stakes and emotional beats. The work making you have an emotion is in fact the point, not something to avoid.
The single best idea George R. R. Martin had was meaninglessly killing Ned Stark at the end of the first book. That plot point HIT, and it did everything it needed to. Raw narrative perfection.
... But the series goes on too long after, and "shocking death" becomes its only trick.
