Dynamite Rave by Hyperactivity
2008
I don't think there's anything quite like the feeling I get from my hyperfixations. I've never been high, but I imagine this is what it feels like - such a powerful burst of energy and joy, I swear it makes me feel like I can do absolutely anything. I want to break things, bounce off the walls, scream until my voice grows hoarse, because this Thing, this piece of media, gives me so much joy and satisfaction that it makes me momentarily transcend my mortal shell.
Anyways I'm gonna go back to scrolling through emerald duo fanart now byeeeee
my concept of God right now is whoever or whatever, after this life of being misinterpreted, misunderstood, punished, and shamed for things that are not moral issues and that I am always burned out from trying to manage to an acceptable degree, will put a hand on my shoulder and say "I know you tried, you tried so hard. it was always enough."
“It shows insufficient knowledge and understanding of the Yoga Sutra if you come to the conclusion that the many mental faculties we have—those of observation, inference, memory, imagination, inactivity, and hyperactivity, for example—are detrimental and need to be eliminated. Yoga understands that these faculties are indeed necessary for living. However, exposed to the influences that constantly assail it, the mind develops its own way of working if it’s left to its own devices. In the end it becomes incapable of using the many faculties it possesses because it cannot find any stability and clarity… . In yoga we are simply trying to create the conditions in which the mind becomes as useful as possible for our actions.” The Heart of Yoga TKV Desikachar

This can often stem from people constantly telling us to sit still, chill tf out, watch TV or play video games instead of answering our body’s craving to get tf up and do shit. Worse, when we’re conditioned into a fear response based on judgment and punishment for being a little too active.
It can also stem from living in a frightening environment where we self-isolate intentionally, including but not limited to homes with unpredictably reactive parents, living with alcoholics, group homes or other authoritarian structured living situations, etc.
There are healthy ways to channel this. They often start with simply breathing, reflecting and mentally indexing all potential active or creative opportunities immediately or easily accessible to us.
