so........ I’ve been shit with this lil project of mine. a month later, I’m trying to pick it back up. Today was realllllly good and I’m so thankful for it that I just needed to put it somewhere.

Started the day off with a little lie in which was nice (fell asleep quite early, too, so heyyooo). I didn’t work lunch and today was beautiful so I went to my fav coffeeshop in Kingston (CRAVE) to get some work done. My favourite table was open, too, so the gods were just all in my corner. And as I’m getting comfortable, my friend Lauren is like “yo, can I come study w you?” and of course I’m all for it because I love her and I already got a decent amount of work done. She arrives and whoa~ boyfriend is with her. This is the first time I’ve properly met him so it was lovely to just chat and he’s so lovely to her so I’m so happy about that. THEN THEN THEN when I get to work, I’m with all my favourite coworkers and it’s so quiet that we’re all really just chilling with my most favourite bosses ever. And for dinner, Ajusshi (boss) plays a lil game to decide the order of who gets to pick what for dinner. I come in third and choose the “shitty” dinner because my coworker said she was hungry and I was NOT about to leave her with just a california roll for dins so I chose it and left her the good stuff. GOD BLESS MY BOSSES tho because there was $10 taped to the underside of my california roll box AND Ajumma (also boss) gave me a tub of curry to take home as well. It was such a fun shift and my bosses make me smile so much; I’m really going to miss working here when I graduate.

Today was so good and I’m so very happy and I just needed to get it out. It’s the little things.

Another Tuesday, another 8:30AM seminar class. Another great day, though. I actually talked in this class which is amazing because I on average said maybe like.. 1 thing every other week last semester. Today, I spoke up multiple times and actually contributed thoughts. It’s getting easier.

Today I’m grateful for my day planner and the fact that I got so much done. Part of my lifestyle change thing for this year is to plan out my days so I make as much out of my time as possible. Back to back commitments from school to gym classes to volunteering with still a few hours dedicated to studying and school work. This organization is great and I feel so much less sluggish and way more relaxed knowing that I have my life together (kinda) for once. It’s been a good day, even if I can’t really feel my legs after that gym class haha.

I went to a 6:45AM spin class and I swear to God, I almost threw up and keeping it in was the real core workout. Will I go again next week? yes.

Today I’m grateful for today. For a Monday, it was pretty spectacular. These are the days I live for. Even with the physically challenging spin class super early in the morning, I still felt so lively and light for most of the day. Went to the archives w my seminar class which is always awesome, got put into project groups for a web exhibit curation assignment w a girl who actually interns at the archives and is interested in my topic idea, and I got to hang out with my best friend, Kelly. It was such a beautiful day and I’m very thankful for it.

another day of nothing much. I woke up at 5/5:30 to get the gym for 6AM but turns out it opened at 8AM so I fell back asleep and did not go to the gym LOL. after that failed attempt at health, it was just getting ready, working dinner, and then school work. *sigh* my goal is to make it to the 6:45AM cycling class tomorrow. wish me luck.

today I’m grateful for my stupidly overpriced day planner. I sat down to write in all my due dates and plan my schedule for the week and wow I’d be a mess without it. I also bought fitness plus and a barre pilates class in an attempt to get fit before my brother’s wedding so that’s throwing off my scheduling. it’s looking to be a busy semester but I’m lucky that this is the semester I get to plan for myself. it’ll be good. very busy but still really good.

another day of nothing much except work. I feel like this blog might get a bit boring and repetitive because really, my life revolves around school and work haha.

today i’m grateful for my mother (again... always). my bridesmaid dress arrived for pickup but I’m not in Toronto to get it (because I’m at school.. duh), so I called my mother and she immediately offers to pick it up after work for me this week. it’s my fault, because I got an email but didn’t think to check until my future sister-in-law messaged me about it so now instead of the week to pick it up, I only have a few days. if my mother didn’t offer to make time in her schedule so last minute to get it, I don’t know what I would do.

we went to the club today. it was weird.

today I’m grateful for the environment in Kingston that lets me walk to and from work and still have the energy to walk to the club, party, and walk back, AND have energy to talk and eat after. I think people take Kingston for granted because it’s definitely smaller than what most people are used to growing up. what we don’t realize is that this kind of living environment that is so convenient and relatively safe is not going to be the same in most places, wherever it may be that we end up.

today I had the ENTIRE day off and that never happens. almost didn’t know what to do with myself but thank god for friends who reach out when I don’t think to.

today I’m grateful for my friend Ashley Q. we went to high school together, even went on a trip to Europe together, but unfortunately didn’t become friends til like... second year ? such a waste. I spent a few hours with her this afternoon and life chats over sangria with her are definitely going to be one of the things I miss most after graduating.

one of my favourite parts about going to school here at Queen’s is the Oxfam club. I’ve been a member all 4 years and spent 3 on the exec team and they’re honestly some of the best people I’ve met. it was actually through Oxfam that I found some of my closes friends. tonight, we had our first exec meeting of the semester and I am so so so excited.

today I’m grateful for - you guessed it - Oxfam at Queen’s. I don’t know how I would have survived here if it wasn’t for this club and the people I’ve encountered through it.

this is the end of my school week and it’s only Tuesday haha. didn’t really do much today but that doesn’t mean I have nothing to be thankful for. even in this cold, wet, shitty Canadian winter weather.

today I’m grateful for Professor Antonio Nicaso. I had a night class with him on the social history of organized crime and even though it was only the first class and kind of an introduction to the course, it was clear that he is very passionate about the subject. I had him for another class last year and I’m glad to see he’s just as excited about teaching these subjects, if not more. it always makes classes more interesting and fosters a better learning environment when the instructor is not only extremely passionate about their topic but also just as willing to learn as they are to teach. Nicaso, I look forward to learning from you.

Today is my last “first day of the semester” of my history undergraduate career. And it was only technically 3 hours long haha.

Today I’m grateful for my best friend, Kelly. We met in second year after having a couple lectures together where we sat kinda near each other but never next to each other. I’m so thankful that she approached me first because I could not even imagine my life without her now. Today, especially, I’m grateful for her because I haven’t seen her since school let out last semester and it felt like forever. We only had about an hour to talk but it was so full of conversation and she just gets me, you know? There are people at home that I hang out with and I’m just drawn to my phone but with Kelly, conversation just flows so naturally that phones aren’t even a thing. I’m so glad she’s in my life <3

work work work work work. I’m so tired lol

today I’m grateful for my cousin, Kaidi. it’s been a long day because all i’ve done is work the lunch shift then come back to do school work then go back to work the dinner shift and it’s just very tiring. here’s where Kaidi comes in. I’m super tired and bleh because the weather’s a little chilly, too, and she snaps me a picture of my dad since he’s in the Philippines right now. it just brightened up my day because I don’t often talk with my cousins because of time differences and busy lifestyles but she thought of me and started conversation and it was really nice. i miss her and the rest of the family :(

today i’m grateful because my other housemate came back from holidays so we’re now a full house. it’s so lively and feels so homey.

I’m not really comfortable with calling Kingston ‘home’ because it just doesn’t feel right but with everyone back, it feels as homey as it can be.

It's still the middle of the day but I wanted to do this before I forgot. I got no sleep last night so I feel like I might KO early. Today I'm grateful for my bosses. I was worried because I got cut down two shifts which is totally fair since new hires need experience so money isn't exactly falling from the sky. I'm grateful, however, because they're having me work all day every day for the next 4 days and they're still as lovely as ever. I'm gonna be sad to have to leave them. I'm also grateful because this is my own personal Day6 day (heheh) and they blessed us w a new song.

This is harder than I thought lol all I ever do is complain apparently. Today I'm grateful for my housemate, Jess. She got in from Vancouver and instantly made this apartment feel warmer. I was worried about getting too used to living here alone again but no worries, I think I like having others around. She also brought me Taiwanese pineapple pastries and a lil phone stand 🙈

and I’m back in Kingston. yay.

today I’m grateful to have this apartment to myself. I share it with 2 beautiful ladies during the school year but I’m definitely the type that needs some alone time to adjust to being away from home again so this is good. school doesn’t start til the 9th and I don’t start working again (I work at a sushi place) til the 6th so I’ve got a couple days to just chill and organize everything so I’m not flustered once classes start.

ahh I leave for Kingston tomorrow (I go to school at Queen’s University). have i started packing? nope.

today I am grateful for my mother. we’ve kinda just chilled around the house since she got back from work. I know she’s having a hard time having to spend the New Years celebrations without my dad but she’s still just as lovely as ever. she also got all my stuff together so packing would be easier for me. thanks, ma. <3
