For the love of my daughter

I have watched my daughter fight the Epilepsy battle for the last 7 years. She has had to put up with people thinking she is just staring off in to space when infact her brain has pushed pause. She has dealt with the effect of Grand Mal seizures and the brain fog that follows. Not knowing what happened or where she is for hours after. Watched a seizure that only lasts 45 seconds to a min and it seams like it lasts an eternity.Tonight I watched another seizure. This makes 6 in less than a month.  Then I watched her break down crying because she is so frustrated and she hurt so much. As a mother it breaks my heart and I want nothing more than to take this monster of a disorder from her. She will never experience the freedom that most teens her age have. We need a cure. We need a miracle.

Here is my depression - it comes and goes, kind of like water running up and down the beach. Sometimes it’s slow, sometimes it creeps up so slowly that I barely notice it. But sometimes it will rush in and it will destroy what’s near it. The feeling of wanting to drive off the road will fluctuate and the thought of skipping another meal will leave my mind as quickly as it came. Sometimes, most of the time, I find it hard to get out of bed, to focus in school, to care about much of anything. And on those days where I feel my best, even then, there is a part of me telling the happier side of me that it should not be.

22 years of marriage. That is a long time of heartbreak and bring driving into the ground. Of being a referee between you and our kids. It is like you can’t stand being wrong or you just have to argue every point. The saddest part is that you can’t even see the anger or how you feel everyone around you is wrong. I can’t not even say that I truly love you anymore or that I can even fathom being with you.

I propose that if they ( and I am included in the “they” because I too work in fast food) want that kind of wage, they need to be able to do basic math and communication skills. If someone hands you $10.15 and your total is $9.13 you should be able to figure out the change with out asking a manager!

Child with Epilepsy

For one minute I have to give up all control of keeping you out of harms way. Your body lies stiff like a board but you are still moving. Your lips turn blue for a few seconds and I know the life is slipping out of you. I try to move you so you can breath again. As your body comes back to life again you are so confused and I try to explain what just happened. All I feel is love and the want to take this thing that has invaded your body from you. As your mother I feel like I failed to keep you safe and I want you to live your life to the fullest.
