Hi sorry self-indulgent iteration stuff
I wrote some of Draxums backstory me thinks
This was a rant I put on discord so excuse any spelling typos
- starts off similarly to canon rise draxum, he is a scientist on a mission to create super soldiers to better yokai society and wipe out humans.
He was never planning on treating his soldiers like children, as they weren’t supposed to be individuals but rather a team.
How he meets splinter is different though. He finds himself sneaking amongst humans, a motivator to destroy the human race I guess? And he finds Hamato Yoshi, who has heard of yokai from his Hamato legends and doesn’t entirely shy away from Draxum as a normal human would.
This intrigues draxum, as he hasn’t actually met a human face to face in hundreds of years. He befriends Yoshi, only to figure out what his deal is of course (he definitely does not find Yoshi attractive and yaoiful <a:blelelem:1471758389200687155> ). I think he would genuinely start to like Yoshi, and maybe MAYBE start to change his minds about humans.
He starts to face pressure from the council though, as they are the ones funding his soldier project and he can’t delay it any longer. He chooses to imprison Yoshi (a hard choice) and use Yoshi’s DNA to infuse with his own to fuse into carefully selected turtle babies to turn them into mutants.
The mutations are successful, however his imprisonment of Yoshi is not, and he escapes, exploding the lab in the process and taking 3/4 turtles with him.
The final turtle, lost beneath the rubble, is found by Draxum. The council is disgraced by Draxum’s failure, and he loses his noble status, so Draxum takes the lone turtle and runs to the vegetated district of the hidden city to hide away. (He always wore his stupid mask before then so he was able to run away without it and not be recognizable)
I’d like to think that Draxum only really decided to raise Donnie as his son because he remembered how Yoshi talked about wanting children in the future (they were never together, this was just like, a general talk about what they wanted in the future).
He names Donnie Donatello because Yoshi had a love for the renaissance
