Victor Gideon who's never been one for social interactions and so has very little experience comforting or calming down another person.
His only "experience" with this kind of thing involves using a trank on experiments that get too rowdy for their own good and could end up hurting themselves or staff unessasairly so to say he was out of his element with you was an understatement.
He's never gotten close enough with someone else to ever have needed to help calm them down or amend their sad state, he was always to busy with his work or hobbies and anytime he needed help he'd do it on his own often talking to his pet rat or snake (whichever pet he had at the time really) untill he felt better.
He couldn't just trank you, he wanted your trust, he NEEDED your trust. Trust wasnt built by taking away another's autonomy, if he showed you every time you freaked out that he was going to put you temporarily out of commission untill that fixed it the only trust you would have is trust that he would sedate you when things got hard.
He also didn't want to give the impression that he thought you incapable of handling yourself. You were the key to his masters work afterall of course you were strong and capable master wouldnt have built you any differently.
All this being said he only really knows what not to do, so when you end up huddled in the corrner of the room everytime he walks in, refusing to eat anything he gives you, and generaly looking at him with heavy distrust and hatred he falls back on the only thing he does know, the experiments and bedside manner.
He knocks before entering "your" space to let you know before he comes in. He stays in your view and sits with you in silence so you'd get use to his presence. He speaks softly and quietly like hes perfected after all these years to not scare others. He praises and compliments you every chance he gets mentioning how strong you are and how brave you are givin your situation. He eats with you even when he isn't hungry.
It disheartens him that he has to treat you like he would any other pacient at the care center he hates he has to draw on knowlage he has used for experiments no longer human. You deserve so much better than them because you are so much better than them.
He hopes soon youll be able to hold his hand when he talks softly to you and have you mindlessly run your fingers across his textured ones, hopes he will be able to lead you down hallways withought fear of you running off, hopes that you will truly be warmed up to him so you can grow closer.
