I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.

I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that there’s nothing I can do about it.

Unironically I despise cute posts about how people who organize their personal libraries by size/color/vibes are Evil and Monstrous. First of all it’s none of your damn business what someone ELSE does with their personal belongings and second of all what? People are supposed to use Dewey in their own home? Dewey hasn’t even DREAMED of the subject categories I require

#I have series grouped together in sequential order but anything else is a free for all based on where I can make enough space #also Dewey/LoC/etc are mostly for nonfiction and most people's personal libraries are probably a mix of fiction and nonfiction #like yeah you could technically organize fiction by Dewey #but unless you want to put everything in the 800s you're gonna have to get creative #and even then do you put Hunchback of Notre Dame under 940 (European history) or 720 (architecture)? It's still vibes!

another problem i have with looking for books that have no love and sex in them, is that people often tend to assume I want something kid friendly (or even worse, things for weird religious people). I am in my 30s, and don't want to be recommended things for children.

#sometimes I want some all-ages media but I'm 34 that's not what I'm usually in the mood for #also family movies/books/shows/etc often still have romantic subplots anyway
