Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes.

September 1st- Time for change. By December 31st I plan to be something-someone- completely new. This is no New Year;s resolution. This is not a weight loss challenge. This is a total “betterization of self”. There is no focus point or particularities. I want to become a better person in every which way that I can. That means physically, mentally, emotionally. Life is a work in progress and I decided to share my progress for anyone willing to follow along! I will be posting hopefully once a week with any new steps I’ve taken to better myself. 

Today I decided I’d enter the world of make up. This is a field I know very little about. My daily make up routine involves Nars eyeliner, Great Lash mascara and possibly a little bit of natural cover up by Lush. My lipstick game is on point though, but other than that I don’t do much to my face. 

I was feeling extra feminine today and decided I’d figure out to make myself look like all of those beautiful women on t.v. with flawless faces. So I went to the local drug store and bought some basic Cover girl matte foundation powder. Then I went to Sephora and I spent 46 damn dollars on a contouring and highlighting kit. (that I had no idea how to use).

I went home and watched some how to videos and went to work! Now I am no make up artist. I am no expert after watching youtube how to’s. However, I do feel a little bit more confident after trying this out. It was my very first attempt so it’s not perfect but I am happy with how it came out.

Perfectly Imperfect Me

I am not perfect. I was never intended to be. Neither were they, or he, or she. For we are only human, and beautifully such. To ask for perfection would simply be too much. How does one measure the perfectness of a human being? Is it in the cut if their hair or their shade of lipstick? Is it in their smile, however fake, yet always gleaming as if with something to prove? Is it the supermodel her exaggerated features and fame, or is it the exhausted mother of three who never misses a game? Perfection is not a constant. It is ever changing; ever so slightly out of reach. My perfection is not the same as yours. Perfection is undefinable. Yet why do we spend so much of our lives trying to find it? Worse, why do we strive for someone else's idea of perfect? Doing so only causes us to lose ourselves. The only perfect thing about humanity is how incredibly imperfect it truly is. So here I stand with all my flaws and imperfections and present to you Myself. For here I am. Perfectly imperfect. Perfectly human.
