Recently, I have been revisiting a Danganronpa AU I created back in 2024-ish and am rewriting parts of it. The AU surrounds the V3 characters (mostly Kokichi and Shuichi) post-game, as they deal with the events that occurred in the game. Shuichi also likes to rave, so that's fun. All characters are based on their pre-game and in-game selves. Here are some current character bios! (Keep in mind that this AU is relatively new, so all of these profiles are subject to change.)
Name: Shuichi Saihara
Age: 18
Pronouns: He/Him
Gender: Trans-man
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: Among all the characters, Shuichi is currently the one whose personality differs the most from his in-game self. He is very trigger-happy and appears to be confident, but is much quieter and reserved around people he trusts. Shuichi frequents raves and is known for being fun to be around during parties. He works at a convenience store during the day and steals Danganronpa merch to burn in an alley for fun. He has also been sent to juvie for graffitiing a promotional billboard for another Danganronpa season. He is also Kokichi's roommate. Shuichi struggles with his identity and addictions.
Name: Kokichi Ouma
Age: 19
Pronouns: He/Him
Gender: cis-male
Sexuality: gay
Personality: Kokichi's personality is similar to his in-game persona in that he masks his true feelings around others due to his trust issues. The main difference is that Kokichi's energy is drained a lot quicker when he tries to mask, so he tends to avoid people and push them away as much as possible. The only person he trusts is Shuichi. Around Shuichi, he is still playful and a trickster, but he doesn't lie as much, and when he does, he seems too tired to care to make a poker face, so Shuichi easily reads him. Kokichi is in college, majoring in theater; however, he is considering dropping out since theater isn't as fun as he thought it would be. Kokichi babysits kids for money and enjoys playing and reading to them. He is considering applying for a job at a daycare. Kokichi is the main reason that he and Shuichi haven't gotten in significant trouble with the cops or the Danganronpa corporation; he is very perceptive and can tell when people are putting him or his roommate in danger. Kokichi is struggling with the grief from his nonexistent prank group.
Other: has ADHD
All the other characters are a WIP. Here are the current drafts:
Kaede has been struggling to get back on her feet after the game and is currently unemployed. She lives with her family, who are less than pleased to have her around. Kaede is trying to get into college to play music, as she still has the talent to play the piano from the games, but she is doing it more out of necessity than want. She was once in a relationship with Shuichi, but they have since broken up. The breakup was inevitable because why the fuck would you get in a relationship after a virtual reality game alters both of your personalities beyond comprehension? Things are bound to go wrong.
I'm not sure what Kaito would be doing, but he will be the character encouraging everyone to heal. Sorry, his description is lackluster. I need to flesh out other characters before fleshing him out.
I think it would be funny if Gonta became a security guard at one of the places Shuichi frequents for raves, but I think this idea is probably gonna be scrapped since I don't think someone who is freshly 18 can get a job like that. Gonta is probably living with his family somewhere, spending most of his days in the garden while he heals from the game. He probably doesn't like Kokichi very much for using him as a way to kill Miu.
I don't know what the other characters would be like in this AU.

I don’t think that’s exactly what she said but it was something like that
Honestly, I’m more hesitant to believe this is the case but it’s still a pretty bad implication in of itself and would be a devastating thing to happen if this were the case
Especially given that a main complaint I’ve seen with tsbs being that there aren’t enough diverse body typings for the female characters
Honestly, I don’t really have any intentions on smearing Kai’s name here with this or imply anything bad on her behalf, I just wanted to share this with others cus I thought it was worth pointing out
I remembered just seeing a TikTok post from Mitch’s ex friend and I wanted to share it because I and a lot of others have only ever heard Mitch’s side of the story and I really thought it would be nice to hear debates about this and to hear what others think of this
